This is exactly what is needed for the American Jewish community. Public schools have become breeding grounds for anti-Jewish and anti-Israel hate. Radical and violent Left-wing groups such as Students for Justice in Palestine dominate school campuses, and have made life for Jewish students unsafe.
This bill should also go a long way in protecting the First Amendment rights of pro-Israel Jewish students as well, who have been bullied, abused, and marginalized when expressing their pro-Israel views.
If AIPAC was smart they would be focusing on lobbying other state legislators to enact similar legislation. That would be a much better option than lobbying members of Congress, since Congress is infested with anti-Semites and Israel-haters such as Bernie Sanders, Diane Feinstein, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and many others.

Kudos to Florida’s Trumpesque Governor, Ron DeSantis, who will sign this legislation into law very quickly.
Florida passes anti-Semitism bill for public schools, Fox News, April 29, 2019:
A bill prohibiting anti-Semitism in Florida’s public schools and universities is going to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The Senate unanimously passed the bill Monday, two days after a gunman opened fire in a California synagogue, killing one and injuring three others.
Lawmakers mentioned the shooting before passing the bill, which would mandate that discrimination against Jewish people be treated the same as acts of racial discrimination in public schools.
The bill also includes an extensive definition of anti-Semitism, including speech that makes dehumanizing or stereotypical allegations about the Jewish community.The anti-Semitism definition also includes expressing hatred for Jews, calling for the killing or harming of a Jewish person, criticizing the collective power of the Jewish community, or accusing Jewish people or Israel of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.

If you remove Palestine from the grip of the European Jew, then the power the American Jew will go tumbling down. That’s why world Jewry is going to want to hold on to Palestine for dear life. But Palestine was land that was stolen at gunpoint and that’s why as long as the European Jew remains on that land he will always be rejected as a foreigner. Who dares to tell me the European Jew is not foreign to that land?

I always liked Governor, DeSantis, both a straight shooting conservative / republican (not a Traitor RINO!) AND a doer!!
I foresee a very bright future in national, American politics for Governor, DeSantis
Considering Florida has the second largest Jewish population (2nd only to NY), DeSantis is known to be a staunch Trump allay (wouldn’t be surprised if this initiative is coordinated with the WH) and Florida being a key election state (due to its size), this move is an important move for attracting at least some of the Floridian Jewish votes come 2020 in the face of the Democratic party utter betrayal of it’s Jewish constituents re dealing with overt / rampant Islamic Antisemitism that is metastasizing within the Democratic party itself

Yes, DeSantis won in Florida, but by the “skin of his teeth.”
His Marxist Democrat opponent Andrew Gillum lost by only one-half of one percent of the vote, even though Gillum was a supporter of the Jew-hating Council of American-Islamic Relations.
So more work needs to be done in that state.

If anyone had suggested to me thirty years ago that an initiative like this would be needed to protect Jewish people in America, I would have asked “what are you on “?
Until a left wing pro muslim group is strong enough to do away with this, it should prove useful in combating rising Islamic hatred in schools there. Every little helps.

So true! You can’t legislate away a hatred. This bill tells you what you can’t do; and it will morph into something that turns many against any one else.Favorable in it’s intent, but will be unfavorable in it’s result. Anyway: we dodged a bullet getting Santis.

this is just the first step in bringing rational conduct back to this country. The next step is to fush the judicial government authorities to prosecute all those who use their claims of freedom of speech to promote their hate for anything Jewish. Obviously, i am referring to people like Farrakhan, and the Mullahs and Imams who use their bully pulpit within their Mosques to preach the vile direction within their belief system that promotes hate of everything Jewish and non- Muslim, and essentially triggers violence against these non-violent people. “Free speech” does not protect those who promote or trigger violence against any group, whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim, or any other, and we must get our prosecutors to take appropriate action against those speakers, which would include anyone, even those elected to office. Until we get that set in motion will we always be one step behind…
