WATCH President Donald Trump officially recognizes Israel’s sovereignty over Golan Heights

9

Watching two of the greatest leaders in the world side by side is joyful. What President Trump has done for Israel’s security is extraordinary, courageous, and historic. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has accurately stated that Israel has never had a better friend then President Donald Trump, and probably never will.

“And you have shown it once again today, Mr. President, with your official proclamation recognizing Israel’s sovereignty on the Golan Heights.”

In a powerful detour from political platitudes, the Israeli prime minister waxed Biblical, comparing the American president to Persian King Cyrus.

“In the long sweep of Jewish history there have been a handful of proclamations by non-Jewish leaders on behalf of our people in our land: Cyrus the Great, the great Persian King, Lord Balfour, President Harry S. Truman, and President Donald J. Trump.”

“And you, Mr. President, you’ve done it not once, but twice with your bold proclamation on Jerusalem, and your bold proclamation on the Golan,” he said.

“On behalf of the people of Israel, thank you President Trump. Thank you for your leadership, thank you for your friendship, and thank you for all you have done to make the alliance between America and Israel stronger and greater than ever. Thank you, Mr. President.”

Donald Trump signs document recognising Israel’s sovereignty over Golan Heights, Jewish News, March 26, 2019:

President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation recognising Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, reversing more than a half-century of US policy.

Standing alongside Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Mr. Trump made formal a move he announced in a tweet last week.

The president said it was time for the US to take the step after 52 years of Israeli control of the strategic highlands on the border with Syria.

Mr. Netanyahu had pressed for such recognition for months. Mr. Trump’s action on Monday gives him a political boost weeks before what is expected to be a close Israeli election.

Israel captured the Golan from Syria in the 1967 Mideast war but its sovereignty over the territory is not recognised by the international community.

“Today, aggressive action by Iran and terrorist groups in southern Syria, including Hezbollah, continue to make the Golan Heights a potential launching ground for attacks against Israel – very violent attacks,” Mr. Trump said.

Historic. You think of all the past US Presidents that could have/should have/would have, but didn’t aid Israel. Donald Trump has been the best President for the Jewish community. Period.

Hmmm, Nixon implemented the second largest military airlift in US history to supply Israel during the Yom Kippur War. The IAF lost a lot of US manufactured Douglas A-4 Skyhawks during the Yom Kippur War.

Yes, Nixon possibly saved Israel from annihilation during the 1973 (Yom Kippur) sneak attack/war by Arab states…. I forgot.

I must admit, whenever this president makes a move that involves Israel my heart is warmed. Whenever Barry and Hillary made a move that involved Israel my blood pressure went up!
