Commissioner Ian Stewart told reporters today the accused man had gone to “extraordinary lengths” to create a perception of “risk, threat and fear.” That is the very definition of terror.
The incident began just before 9pm yesterday in the terminal’s food court, when the man allegedly pulled out a knife and placed a metal object on a table, claiming it was a bomb. “That’s when he produced a second knife,” witness Jake Starkey said. “He stuck his arms out making sure everyone could see that he had the knives. And big carving knives as well, they weren’t little. ”

Queensland state police said they evacuated Brisbane Airport’s international terminal late Saturday after finding a “suspicious device”.
The device the man produced and claimed was a bomb.
One of Australia’s busiest international airports was locked down after a man brandished a knife and made a bomb threat at a food court, prompting travellers to flee in panic, officials said Sunday.
Queensland state police said they evacuated Brisbane Airport’s international terminal late Saturday after finding a “suspicious device” when they responded to reports of the 50-year-old man, who spoke Arabic, threatening a woman.
Terrorism was later ruled out as the cause and the man was charged with domestic violence offences, falsely claiming to destroy or damage an aviation facility, and making a hoax bomb threat.
The device was found to be “inert”, but Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart said its complex appearance “indicates just the extraordinary lengths that a person has gone to to create perception of risk, threat and fear”.
The device looked like a small, black safe with wires sticking out of it, according to a photograph released by police.
The man, who was taken into custody by police, is due to face court on Monday. The terminal was reopened after two hours.
There have been growing fears of terror-linked attacks by radicals inspired by Islamic State and other groups, with a foiled effort to target an Etihad flight with a crude bomb in Sydney in 2017.

Only when most people can admit the truth that Muslims and Islam are a threat to western civilization will anything be done about it. Till then the denial and ignorance will continue and the hills of victims injured or murdered by Muslim fanatics will keep piling up.
we need to build an alternate airline system that doesn’t allow muslim-looking people to enter the airport, uses armed intelligence officers to use profiling to detain and search anyone they want to at the airport, gets rid of all metal detectors and the moronic tsa, and allows all animals who aren’t obvious helpers of handicapped people to be taken outside and used for target practice

But it is horrifying to see the number of Asians, Muslims now in Australia and yes Australia would have grooming gangs as well. I am not much of a writter but do try and that’s what we all need is to try. Truth must get out there and be the eyes and ears on many issues and link them together.

There there folks, we shut down a major international airport, terrified people about a bomb… And after all that it was a domestic violence incident….Nothing to see hear, move along….. Typical.. But then what can you expect when a proposition that “It’s okay to be white” was voted down in parliament…So are the MAJORITY of Australians not legitimate people any more? If that’s the case, then they SHOULD NOT pay any taxes…That is only right and proper.. If the government delegitimizes White Australians, then white Australians DON’T have to pay tax, as they are non people..

It may not look like much, but the scruffy port is a strategic gateway to the South China Sea, where China is challenging the United States, and it serves as a host base for the United States Marines, who train here six months a year.
Critics contend that the Chinese bought a front-row seat to spy on American and Australian naval operations.
“There is a deep Chinese interest, driving interest, in understanding how Western military forces operate, right down to the fine details associated with how a ship operates, how it is loaded and unloaded, the types of signals a ship will emit through a variety of sensors and systems,” Peter Jennings, a former Australian defense official who is now the executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, told a parliamentary inquiry.
China has invested in more than two dozen foreign ports around the world, including a port in Djibouti adjacent to an American military base. But the 99-year Darwin lease was the first time the Chinese had bought into a port of a close American ally hosting American troops.
The Australian government did not consult with Washington, and the parliamentary inquiry showed that the corruption-plagued and unpopular government of the Northern Territory, of which Darwin is the capital, had rushed to lease the port to raise money for new projects before an election.
The lease to the Chinese company, a shipping and energy conglomerate called Landbridge Group, highlighted the competing pressures in Australia between its more than 70-year alliance with the United States and its flourishing trade ties with China.
Australia’s attitude to China swings between greed and fear, people here say. On one hand, huge sales of minerals, property and food to China have kept the country recession proof, and have proved lucrative for the powerful Australian business community and the government.
On the other, the government relies on its deep defense ties with Washington, including close intelligence cooperation, to keep the sparsely populated country safe.
Despite its unimpressive real estate, the port here, which was hit with more Japanese bombs in 1942 than Pearl Harbor, has long had strategic value.
… American officials say they believe the lease by Landbridge was a strategic deal, not a commercial one. They cited the length of the lease and the fact that Landbridge paid 20 percent more than the two closest bidders.
Among the specific worries, Mr. Jennings said, is that fuel storage tanks used by the American military are inside the area leased to Landbridge. Future construction by the Australian navy for new facilities would be limited to parts of the harbor not under the company’s management, he said.
Australians appear to be worried as well. In an illustration of its pique, the United States commissioned a poll of Australians that found nearly half believed the lease posed “a lot of risk” to national security, and nine in 10 said it involved at least some risk.
… In an interview in Beijing, Mr. Ye said the investment fit into the company’s strategy to expand its shipping and energy interests and served China’s foreign policy goal known as One Belt, One Road.

We , the long suffering silent majority , are sick of hearing about their mental issues , which comes from inbreeding. Never before has one section of our migrants caused so much angst. OBVIOUSLY this creep purposely intended to inflict terror — that’s what “terrorism” is.
But the media are often clueless in reporting what it means when a police spokesman announces that some such act is “not terrorism.”
I don’t know Australian law, but if it is at all similar to US law, LABELING an act as “terrorism” — or more specifically, “international terrorism,” means A DIFFERENT LAYER OF POLICE JURISDICTION GETS INVOLVED.
That does not mean they are minimizing the terror that was caused. Usually, it means the local constabulary announces “we can handle it” and do not need to call in a higher-level, perhaps federal, investigative force to root out terrorist cells with international connections. Arabic or not, inspired by ISIS videos on Youtube or not, this was apparently one lone crazy guy, not an entire terror cadre. Calling him “crazy” does not excuse his terrorism — IMO any terrorist is by definition crazy. Nor does it excuse the ideologues whose propaganda probably encouraged him to do it — they are if anything even worse than the actual terror perpetrators, and ought to be sanctioned and punished severely as well as shunned socially and internationally. But the police decision to apply the “terrorist” label still boils down to whether there was any indication this guy was working in concert with someone else to do the actual act.
