A cure for cancer? Israeli scientists say they think they found one

A cure for cancer? Israeli scientists say they think they found one
A small team of Israeli scientists think they might have found the first complete cure for cancer.
“We believe we will offer in a year’s time a complete cure for cancer,” said Dan Aridor, of a new treatment being developed by his company, Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies Ltd. (AEBi), which was founded in 2000 in the ITEK incubator in the Weizmann Science Park. AEBi developed the SoAP platform, which provides functional leads to very difficult targets.
“Our cancer cure will be effective from day one, will last a duration of a few weeks and will have no or minimal side-effects at a much lower cost than most other treatments on the market,” Aridor said. “Our solution will be both generic and personal.”
It sounds fantastical, especially considering that an estimated 18.1 million new cancer cases are diagnosed worldwide each year, according to reports by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Further, every sixth death in the world is due to cancer, making it the second leading cause of death (second only to cardiovascular disease).
Aridor, chairman of the board of AEBi and CEO Dr. Ilan Morad, say their treatment, which they call MuTaTo (multi-target toxin) is essentially on the scale of a cancer antibiotic – a disruption technology of the highest order.
The potentially game-changing anti-cancer drug is based on SoAP technology, which belongs to the phage display group of technologies. It involves the introduction of DNA coding for a protein, such as an antibody, into a bacteriophage – a virus that infects bacteria. That protein is then displayed on the surface of the phage. Researchers can use these protein-displaying phages to screen for interactions with other proteins, DNA sequences and small molecules.
In 2018, a team of scientists won the Nobel Prize for their work on phage display in the directed evolution of new proteins – in particular, for the production of antibody therapeutics.
AEBi is doing something similar but with peptides, compounds of two or more amino acids linked in a chain. According to Morad, peptides have several advantages over antibodies, including that they are smaller, cheaper, and easier to produce and regulate.
When the company first started, Morad said, “We were doing what everyone else was doing, trying to discover individual novel peptides for specific cancers.” But shortly thereafter, Morad and his colleague, Dr. Hanan Itzhaki, decided they wanted to do something bigger.
To get started, Morad said they had to identify why other cancer-killing drugs and treatments don’t work or eventually fail. Then, they found a way to counter that effect.
For starters, most anti-cancer drugs attack a specific target on or in the cancer cell, he explained. Inhibiting the target usually affects a physiological pathway that promotes cancer. Mutations in the targets – or downstream in their physiological pathways – could make the targets not relevant to the cancer nature of the cell, and hence the drug attacking it is rendered ineffective.
In contrast, MuTaTo is using a combination of several cancer-targeting peptides for each cancer cell at the same time, combined with a strong peptide toxin that would kill cancer cells specifically. By using at least three targeting peptides on the same structure with a strong toxin, Morad said, “we made sure that the treatment will not be affected by mutations; cancer cells can mutate in such a way that targeted receptors are dropped by the cancer.”
“The probability of having multiple mutations that would modify all targeted receptors simultaneously decreases dramatically with the number of targets used,” Morad continued. “Instead of attacking receptors one at a time, we attack receptors three at a time – not even cancer can mutate three receptors at the same time.”
Furthermore, many cancer cells activate detoxification mechanisms when in stress from drugs. The cells pump out the drugs or modify them to be non-functional. But Morad said detoxification takes time. When the toxin is strong, it has a high probability of killing the cancer cell before detoxification occurs, which is what he is banking on.
Many cytotoxic anticancer treatments aim at fast-growing cells. But cancer stem cells are not fast growing, and they can escape these treatments. Then, when the treatment is over, they can generate cancer again.
“If it does not completely annihilate the cancer, the remaining cells can start to get mutations again, and then the cancer comes back, but this time it is drug resistant,” Morad said.
He explained that because cancer cells are born out of mutations that occur in cancer stem cells, most of the overexpressed proteins which are targeted on the cancer cell exist in the cancer stem cells. MuTaTo’s multiple-target attack ensures that they will be destroyed as well.
Finally, some cancer tumors erect shields which create access problems to large molecules, such as antibodies. MuTaTo acts like an octopus or a piece of spaghetti and can sneak into places where other large molecules cannot reach. Morad said the peptide parts of MuTaTo are very small (12 amino acids long) and lack a rigid structure.
“This should make the whole molecule non-immunogenic in most cases and would enable repeated administration of the drug,” he said.
Morad said their discovery could also reduce the sickening side-effects of most cancer treatments, which stem from drug treatments interacting with the wrong or additional targets, or the correct targets but on non-cancerous cells. He said MuTaTo’s having a combination of several highly specific cancer-targeting peptides on one scaffold for each type of cancer cell would increase the specificity to the cancer cell due to the avidity effect. In addition, in most cases, the non-cancer cells that have a protein in common with the cancer cells do not overexpress it.
“This makes a great difference between the two kinds of cells and should decrease the side effects dramatically,” Morad said.
He equated the concept of MuTaTo to the triple drug cocktail that has helped change AIDS from being an automatic death sentence to a chronic – but often manageable – disease.
Today, AIDS patients take protease inhibitors in combination with two other drugs called reverse transcriptase inhibitors. The drug combination disrupts HIV at different stages in its replication, restrains an enzyme crucial to an early stage of HIV duplication and holds back another enzyme that functions near the end of the HIV replication process.
“We used to give AIDS patients several drugs, but we would administer them one at a time,” Morad explained. “During the course of treatment, the virus mutated, and the AIDS started attacking again. Only when patients started using a cocktail, were they able to stop the disease.”
Now, he said, people with AIDS are HIV carriers, but they are not sick anymore.
The MuTaTo cancer treatment will eventually be personalized. Each patient will provide a piece of his biopsy to the lab, which would then analyze it to know which receptors are overexpressed. The individual would then be administered exactly the molecule cocktail needed to cure his disease.
However, unlike in the case of AIDS, where patients must take the cocktail throughout their lives, in the case of MuTaTo, the cells would be killed, and the patient could likely stop treatment after only a few weeks.The company is now writing patents on specific peptides, which will be a large bank of targeting toxin peptides wholly owned and hard to break, said Aridor.
Morad said that so far, the company has concluded its first exploratory mice experiment, which inhibited human cancer cell growth and had no effect at all on healthy mice cells, in addition to several in-vitro trials. AEBi is on the cusp of beginning a round of clinical trials which could be completed within a few years and would make the treatment available in specific cases.
Aridor added: “Our results are consistent and repeatable.”

Living in NJ, one of my industries I spent time with was the pharmaceuticals. I understand they need to recover the costs of research etc. but honestly the profit was very high… It’s tough to spend allot of time and money and then come up with nothing too. They are well paid and boy do they push the drugs. They will have these “seminars” for doctors and their families in wonderful destinations like Hawaii, all paid for to encourage more prescription use. There is no doubt that drug companies here would not he happy!

In the meantime, reduce or eliminate carcinogens from your body and environment. Remove chlorine and fluoride from the water you drink and bathe with. Ladies, what’s in those cosmetics you slather on your skin? Reduce exposure to RF radiation. Turn off that wireless router and smart devices. Keep your smart phone away from your body. Certainly, don’t put your smart phone in your back pocket or wear it on your belt. This will cause sterility in men and women and colon cancer in both. Putting a cell phone in your bra will cause breast cancer. Fight 5G because this is a quantum increase in RF radiation which is a known carcinogen. Eat healthy food.

Maybe they are on the right track but it looks like more work needs to be done. I don’t have a medical background so maybe I am misunderstanding this.
I don’t believe the cancer industry in the U.S.wants a cure. Call me cynical but too many jobs and drugs would go away if they find a cure. I wouldn’t want to know how much money we have dumped into cancer research. I hope these Israeli scientists are successful!

This is great news! Chemotherapy is now being frowned upon in medical journals as it kills the good cells.
There is a video by an Israeli doctor on the Jerusalem Post website and he is treating and controlling a patient’s metastic cancer not with chemo but with anti-cancer pills.
Israel is a leader in medical advancements!
Israel has made great advancements in breast cancer treatment and Israel gives better cancer treatment to patients than Canada. My friend had stage 3 breast cancer – a large tumour in one breast but it was contained and had not spread unfortunately in Canada they gave her months of chemotherapy which shrunk the tumour and also performed surgery to remove the small tumor from her breast but the chemo spread the cancer to her brain and spine.
The pharmaceutical companies will not be happy as they make a good living developing new drugs and make millions as they are not interested in finding a cure as it would put the pharmaceutical companies out of business.
Israel is a beacon light ! Meanwhile while Israel is hard at work finding cures for cancer the Muslim world is busy developing missiles in hopes of destroying Israel.
Long live Israel the only democracy in the Middle East today.

Chemo and radio therapy kills everything! It’s like putting poison in your body. You might win around or maybe two but it eventually comes back with a vengeance and gets you. They have had some success with bone marrow transplants.

You are correct about Big Phama. There is big money on the line. Name them: AMA, FDA and Big Pharma have colluded and have not found a cure for cancer, nor will they. There is too much money in their comfort zone of allopathic toxicity, dangerous radiation treatments and poor nutrition while millions needlessly die.
The Israeli doctors need to be aware of this. They may need protection if follow-up quality assurance data proves their claim is true.

It’s just amazing what fruit Israel keeps bearing.
God blesses Israel. This is a pattern throughout history.
If you want other stark recent examples, look at the number of Nobel prizes that Israelis have won (this article looks like at least one more!), or the Six Day War.
Praise the Lord for His chosen people, and may God bless America for standing by them!
As a side note: I doubt this’ll be the end of cancer, but at least it’ll be a very strong weapon in the fight against it (and perhaps the end of certain cancer variants? who knows!).

That depends some people put up a good fight when it comes to cancer and live many years surrounded by friends and family – it is worth it to fight. Some people go quickly when they have rounds and rounds of chemo. Avoid chemo – surgery a little light radiation and exercise and eating healthy and being optimistic and never giving up hope.

The will to live plays a big part but does have limitations.
Another couple friendly with my parents had nonHodgkins Lymphoma.. His doctor had him on experimental drugs. He lived a little over twelve years. He sent copies of his file to help my spouses sister on things to try. She was living in HK and too sick to travel when that was made available to her. When Obamacare kicked in his doctor had a meeting with him in September. From what I understand he was a good caring doctor but they could no longer keep him on the drugs they were giving him. It was too expensive and what allot of people don’t realize is research and other money ended for this kind of experimental treatment. So he got his life in order, enjoyed Christmas with his family and died the end of December. I didn’t know him well but he was a good man and did allot of good things in life. It was will power that kept him alive. He only wanted to enjoy one more Christmas with his family and friends.
My spouse’s doctor wasn’t interested in trying what kept him alive. Not taking plane trip back to the U.S. cost her her life. I felt terrible for her. Her husband was an executive with CISCO and the company even offered her the company plane and she didn’t take them up on the offer. She really believed she was going to beat it. Later she had no confidence in her doctor. It was pointless to change doctors since whoever she would have changed to would be consulting with him. He was considered a guru of sorts there. His ineptness stunned me. When she was first diagnosed with cancer, they couldn’t figure out which cancer that she had The blood work was sent to a lab in Connecticut to confirm which cancer it was.

My son was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. They tried chemo – various kinds – and ruled out radiation for some reason. Then they sent him to MD Anderson – where he was ‘cured’ with adult stem cell technology. It was quite impressive. We thought we were going to lose him, and then he was okay.
Sometime in the middle of the whole exercise, Obamacare kicked in and defunded the whole enterprise. MDA found a private foundation to fund my son’s treatment, but it was sort of outrageous – since they were sending cash to Iran. They got their grants back, but only due to an army of lawyers.

While the hopes are bold and indeed welcomed, I would caution those who think such things actually work out in the immediate timeframe suggested by the developers of this scientific research. There are many pitfalls and false trails in science and cancer research is no different. Yet, it is instructive that the search, the research and the possibilities are enormous. Also instructive are the people here who similarly express the hopes for the success of the research and admiration for those who follow others who’ve delivered such improvements, treatments and cures for humanity. There are too many research institutions that live off of grants to find a cure for cancer, and release something when the grant is about to end and say they need a few more years of funding. If a cure is found, the grants will dry up. I would not be surprised those who are close to a cure will have a lab accident destroying them and their research.

However, when I had cancer in 1997 I was strongly warned not to do natural or homeopathic by the cancer doctor….I cheated….I did some natural remedies in conjunction with chemo….I did great.

I lost both breasts to cancer 7 years apart. The chemo they gave me the first time caused a “secondary cancer” 7 years later. They don’t tell you when you get the chemo the first time it can give you another cancer.
My baby sister died a year and a half ago at age 58. She had Hodgkins Lymphoma with radiation and beat it. 24 years later it came back as Non-Hodgkins and killed her pretty quick.
In all my studies of cancer I learned real quick to never have any radiation because it can cause sarcoma tumors up to 30 years later. Some doctors tried to pressure me into having radiation and I steadfastly said no.
This news is going to be a real blow to the Cancer Treatment industry. Doctors and facilities that treat Heart disease and Cancer are the bread and butter of these medical disciplines. I remember reading a book one time where the writer said there would never be a cure for cancer because it’s too lucrative for those who treat it. He stated there was no money in the cure for cancer….only the treatment of cancer. Thank God the Israelis didn’t listen.
I hear a lot of people whine and grouse about the US assisting Israel to fight off Islam; especially the anti semites. This Israeli news is going to be the greatest gift to mankind in centuries. Imagine if we had let Islam wipe them off the face of the map…..Israel represents life and survival. Islam represents death and enslavement….I choose LIFE.

My spouses sister died of nonHodgkins Lymphoma. it spread all over, pancreas, brain and finally consumed her. We have hope for a bone marrow transplant but it was too far gone. Cancer is such a horrible disease. About a month after she died, I believe it was Businessweek, had an article about a drug that could cure nonHodgkins Lymphoma even in the late stage but two companies were fighting over the rights to the drug and this had to be resolved. I don’t remember the name of the drug or the companies. It just made me angry that if this was true, fighting for the patent rights was their priority. This was back in the early 2000’s. Whoever the companies were doesn’t matter. Magically the drug never materialized. When I knew the drug and companies involved, there was never any follow up in the news.
I honestly do not believe they want a cure for cancer in any form. Too many people benefit by not providing a cure. You could call it a cancer swamp. They love the research money, make large profits to a captive audience and too many occupations dependent on keeping cancer alive.

He died before we married and I never met him. Baylor University tries to optimize traditional and the holistic approach. I don’t know how effective they are.

It’s the battle of chemical vs more natural remedies. There is more money in chemicals.
Homeopathic natural remedies are not regulated and you do have to be careful.
Some are useful and some are not. I dabbled in that for awhile. I also have MS. My immune system is a mess. I didn’t abuse myself growing up and to the best of my knowledge no one else had my health problem on my side of the family.
Germany is big on that so I bought allot of books on it in English. I had mixed success. Nothing was cured but helpful on symptoms. I would say the best advice is to eat healthy, get exercise and proper sleep and no matter what is going on, know what is important to you in life and appreciate the blessings you do have.

However, I would add one thing you may not know about and has kept my cancer away since 2004.
IP-6 with inositol…..It quadruples your T-cells (natural killer cells). I also don’t get the flu or colds.
When I first started taking it not many people knew about it…..now you find that doctors take it and have their staff take it at least during flu season. They either don’t get the flu or if they do, it only lasts for a few days instead of 10 days.
The person who created it is Dr. Shamsuddin of, I believe, a university in Maryland. The original brand is Cell Forte’. You can buy cheaper versions of it, but I stick with the brand.
As stress levels build up for whatever causes, the T-Cells get overwhelmed and some things get past them. IP-6 gives a triple chance of things not getting through.
It’s made with corn or rice bran and inositol…..
You can get IP-6 from canned corn…popcorn…other natural sources, but not the inositol added….and you’d have to eat a lot of it to get the same effect.
There are zero negative effects from taking it…..unless you are allergic to corn or rice.
P.S. I am not an agent for IP-6, I don’t sell it or manufacture it….no connection to it whatsoever. Just passing along solid information.
I am a more vibrant, healthy person than my oldest daughter….she doesn’t take it. Go figure.
As for Germany….look up Dr. Johanna Budwig (sic). She discovered that if she pressed flax seeds and gave people the oil within 15 minutes of pressing (it loses its’ efficacy little by little). She was curing cancer with Flax seed oil. The Government hauled her up on charges while bringing their family members to her at night to cure!
Flax seed has to be cracked open or it passes through the body without benefit. And don’t buy the oil in bottles….no efficacy. Don’t buy pre-ground seeds….no efficacy. I use a coffee bean grinder, grind it up and then put it in milkshakes, on my salad, or any other way you want it. Just do it fresh each time. I get upset when I see pre-ground seeds and flax seed oil at health food stores….when I point that out to them they just shrug and move away.
Those two things have made me very healthy….my doctor complains that I rarely come in and it’s usually something minor….then he laughs and applauds what I’m doing. Hope this helps, Felix.

I will definitely look into Cell Forte’ .I am like a magnet for immune diseases. Yes, flax seed is familiar. Sunflower oil is also good over popcorn! I still make an effort but not as aggressive on researching and trying stuff out as I used to be.
Dr. Johanna Budwig is someone I will look into. A few years ago we were going to move and did not. Thank God we didn’t! Most things were packed up and that included my books on this stuff. Long story short the owners changed their minds. We would have over paid for the house. It was during the housing bubble time. They stayed packed up in boxes downstairs. I don’t think I have anything by Dr. Johanna Budwig.

My son had Hodgkin Lymphoma, but he was cured with adult stem cell technology. They tried chemo, but it didn’t work, and they discussed radiation, but ruled it out for reasons I cannot recall. This will be his fifth year, and so far he is doing well.

My daughter’s fifth grade teacher also had nonHodgkins lymphoma . She went into remission after using her adult stem cells but she didn’t make it. They had used chemo prior to this. She was older. I think age might have something to do with it. I hope your son thrives!
They have had NO SUCCESS using aborted baby fetal cells. The though was since they were immature, they could harness that and use it to cure other problems such as cancer. Instead they created TUMORS! I think God said – NO. You aren’t using aborted babies for that.

That is true also. But when poor people and illegals don’t buy insurance, the insurance companies raise the premiums on the people that do buy it.

That happens with car insurance as well. Not just medical. Basically, there isn’t enough competition, so the insurance companies can pretty much set their own prices. My late husband said many times, “Insurance companies are a bunch of who**s.” And they are, due to not enough competition and the competition should be allowed ACROSS STATE LINES, but it isn’t. That gives them more ability to stuff their pockets.

Right again. I think we are both on the same side, it’s just that you don’t like my hospital conspiracy theory. I know it is hard to lay blame on the major religions that own most of the hospitals. God will make sure they get what they deserve. Been nice talking with you, take care now.

No religion owns a hospital in my city, but there is one in Medford – Providence (which is Catholic), but I would go there before I went to the ones owned by ASANTE in s Oregon, which is a HUGE CONGLOMERATE and lies about being a non-profit. They’re also gobbling up all the physician offices and I REFUSE to go thru them for care any longer. They accept my “co-pay”, then turn around and charge me for the use of their BUILDING by charging at least another $100, usually more! The Governor’s Advocacy Office is aware of their wretched, dishonest practices, but can’t stop them. They are completely destroying health care in southern Oregon. I’m planning to move to another area in the spring BECAUSE of it.

Here we have Mayo buying up all the little hospitals, competing with Marshfield. I have to go to Mayo because it is the only one my insurance company will cover for me. my insurance won’t let me go anywhere else. (Blue cross and blue shield.)

I have Medicare “Advantage” insurance that will cover most doctors & hospitals, though it doesn’t pay as MUCH for those that are out of the system. ASANTE is really wretched because while you pay your co-pay, you get another bill. I was told that my co-pay covered the provider, but not the space the provider practices in. I asked them if maybe I should ask the provider to meet me at my car, rather than going into the building! They get away with that BS!

Israel has never stolen land. It has GIVEN some away, though. In 2005, all the Israelis in Gaza had to leave, so the Arabs could have the land. And yes, they have a right to build homes ANYWHERE in their own country! NOBODY has a right to tell them otherwise!
