Gohmert is right. The Southern Poverty Law Center is the left’s censorship arm and has no business helping YouTube decide which videos to keep and which to boot as part of its “Trusted Flaggers” program. The SPLC, of course, is the same group that just listed numerous conservative media outlets as hate groups. The “Trusted Flagger” role that the SPLC has explains why there has been so much deletion of conservatives’ videos. And YouTube is not unique in this. The social media giants are using their hard-left authoritarian goons to police speech across the board. Facebook uses Media Matters. And Google worked with an imam to scrub their search results of anything critical of Islam. This is a continuing escalation of what is now fast becoming a totalitarian state. It’s Orwellian, under the guise of policing “hate speech.”
And what’s being done?
Nothing but denial from the left and indifference from conservative leaders other than Gohmert.

On Tuesday, multiple Republican congressmen ripped into Google for listing the far-Left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as a “trusted flagger” on its platform YouTube. Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) ripped into Google CEO Sundar Pichai for trusting an organization that brands conservative and Christian groups “hate groups” along with the Ku Klux Klan.
“You have a trusted flagger, you had indicated, called the Southern Poverty Law Center,” Gohmert told Pichai. “The Southern Poverty Law Center really has stirred up more hate than about any other group I know.”
Gohmert referenced the 2012 terrorist attack against the Family Research Council (FRC), in which a man used the SPLC’s “hate map” to target the FRC’s office in Washington, D.C. He showed up with semi-automatic weapons and a bag of Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches to kill everyone in the building and place a sandwich by their heads.
The SPLC “stirred up one guy to the point that he went to the Family Research Council and I know those people,” the congressman said. “And they’re Christians. And they believe — and I believe — that Christianity is really more based on love than about any other religion in history. God so loved the world, He sent His Son, His Son so loved the world, He gave His life.”
“Yet [the SPLC] stirred up hate against the Family Research Center [sic] and a guy goes in shooting,” Gohmert added.
The congressman also referenced the case of Maajid Nawaz, a Muslim reformer the SPLC falsely branded an “anti-Islamic extremist.” The SPLC settled a defamation lawsuit from Nawaz, paying him and his Quilliam Foundation $3.375 million.
“Now, you consider them a trusted flagger, yet they keep creating problems for people that are not haters,” Gohmert said. “They had to pay out $3.375 million. My problem is, when you put your moniker on them of trusted flagger, why aren’t you paying $3.375 to Mr. Maajid Nawaz? That’s my problem.”
“You trust people that have stirred up a lot of hate,” the congressman alleged.
He further argued that Google’s leadership is blind to its own liberal bias. “You’re so surrounded by liberality that hates conservatism, hates people that really love our Constitution and the freedom it’s afforded people like you, that you don’t even recognize it,” Gohmert said. “It’s like a blind man not even knowing what light looks like, because you’re surrounded by darkness.”
The congressman concluded by referencing a video of Google’s leadership lamenting Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 election. “Your cofounder, Mr. [Sergey Mikhaylovich] Brin said, quote, ‘Most people here are pretty upset and pretty sad.’ A lot of us have seen the video. We saw how upset the top people at Google were.”
“For you to come in here and say, ‘There is no political bias in Google’ tells us, you either are being dishonest, and I don’t want to think that, or you don’t have a clue how politically biased Google is,” Gohmert concluded….

A simple solution for non regulation. Have google install a read at own risk button can still monitor hate speech example convert or die like the mooslimms continue posting.

Instead of people being told “who decides what ethics is” people should contemplate about what true ethics is & create a credible system to protect it.

What would Louie Gohmert suggest as a better alternative? As for the claim that the SPLC has stirred up hate, I’d crack up at that claim. That Floyd Corkins misused SPLC information is not the SPLC’s fault.
As for political bias, one can separate life off the job from life on the job.

Forces that are sick and deranged beyond measure are playing a joke on us and are waiting to see just how much nonsense we are willing to put up with. While the SPLC can sucker idiots out of their money to support them all they can, putting them in positions of responsibility and or authority speaks to the character of those who ventured to that folly. I’m old, but even as a child I knew SPLC was full of loons. This smacks even the most brushed over instincts with the truth of ” This is nuts!”

There are crazies and nutjobs on both the Left and the Right. The beautiful thing about the US Constitution is that everyone has a legally protected right to voice their opinions (freedom of speech).
I believe this open-mindedness, this willingness to hear any idea, no matter how unpopular or wacko it sounds is what made the US the richest and most powerful nation on Earth. It’s because that crazy outlandish idea might just be the truth or the right view that sets us free.
This should never be taken for granted, very few nations (including western ones) protect freedom of speech as America does or used to at least. Just look at Pakistan, they jailed an innocent woman Asia Bibi because she’s a Christian and based on a lie that she insulted Islam and Mohammad-and note that telling the truth about this wretched evil cult gets you jail and or death.
Is that the kind of world we want to live in? Thousands of these inbred Muslim savages went hunting for her door to door to kill her, even though the courts found her to be innocent. They’ve also gone after the judges/lawyers. This is where you end up if you don’t value freedom and truth.
So I applaud Gohmert for going after Google/Youtube. He’s exactly right, these people are in a Liberal echo chamber and entirely reject any ideas that exist outside their tiny bubble. You’d think they created a platform knowing full well that people with many disparate political views would be sharing their ideas and that they’d be enlightened and accommodating towards them.
Instead they took the predictable, boring and fascist path to censorship of views they don’t like. It’s odd to me that in the 21st century with our advanced level of technology we’re voluntarily blocking our fellow citizens from hearing ideas/truths which they’re uncomfortable with, in America of all places.
As if ‘bad’ ideas are too scary for grown adults to handle so we need the paternalism of the Left to learn how to think ‘rightly’ on any given subject. Meanwhile even more sickening and laughable is that Twitter is censoring people while citing laws from the terrorist state of Pakistan. It’s worse than a Twilight Zone episode.
I truly hope that it doesn’t end here and that Trump/Congress decides that our freedom of speech is far too precious and important to trust to radical progressive Left wing fanatics and that there must be oversight/regulation on all social media sites to guarantee the freedom of speech for everyone-stopping short where it crosses into criminal behavior like making threats of violence.
Universal free speech should always be protected but even more so during a time of war as the enemy will be spreading their lies and propaganda to undermine our efforts to fight them and defend ourselves and now is one of those times.

I love Louie. He is the only politician that I trust. I was disappointed when he didn’t enter the race for POTUS. Louie loves the country as founded, is highly intelligent, and is a man of his word.

I agree that God is working through President Trump. My opinion about Louie running was formed prior to our POTUS entering the fray. That doesn’t diminish my opinion of Gohmert at all. It just means that after hearing President Trump I also realized that God chose him to work through and supported him ever since. I do hope that Louie considers a future run in 2004. Don’t underestimate Louie’s intelligence.. Prior to my ditching cable I watched Louie speak for a very long time on c-span while he was on the floor. He is very savvy too and he never flip flopped. Louie is as pro Constitution as any American can be and a good man.

The SPLC IS A HATE GROUP and its tax-exempt status should be immediately removed and anyone supporting the organization put under intense scrutiny and investigation. Let me remind you that the SPLC is used by the DOJ and the FBI as a source as well as Google and Facebook.

Southern Poverty Law Center has more than 90 million dollars in offshore equity funds. It is one of the most aggressive fund raisers, and also is classified as a non-profit.
Probably it should lose its non-profit status, since it is a strongly politicized organization which defames conservatives and conservative groups, often politically oriented groups, so it is essentially engaged in political activity.
