Car Ramming Germany: Car deliberately swerves into crowded bus stop (1 DEAD, 14 WOUNDED)

54

A car deliberately swerved and rammed into a group of waiting people at a bus stop in Recklinghausen on Thursday just before 3 pm, killing an 88-year-old senior citizen and injuring 14 other people, according to police reports. The injured are between 17 and 67 years old. Some media reports are mentioning a possible suicide attempt — typical media and law enforcement whitewash. The driver is fine. Who rams into a crowd of people to “commit suicide”? A wall — yes.  A crowd of flesh and bone — that sounds most like  jihad.

The man (32) from Herten had raced on Thursday at 14.52 clock with his Ford Focus in a crowd in front of a bus stop. A senior (88) died, 14 people between 16 and 67 years had to be cared for by helpers.

Why the man drove into the crowd was still unclear on Thursday evening. According to police, there are first indications of an extended suicide. “We’ll follow him,” said a police spokeswoman. However, further causes of accidents can not be ruled out.

According to information from the police, the man with a silver Ford Focus on Hertener Straße was heading for the city center when he came off the carriageway between the confluence of Von-Bruchhausen-Straße and the roundabout and came to the other side. There the man from Herten drove into the crowd waiting at a bus shelter. According to the fire department, the bus stop was almost full.

The task force was in action from just before 3:00 pm to 4:15 pm and described the situation as “very confusing” at first. Among other things, employees of a neighboring orthodontic practice helped with the care of the injured. After the accident, the road had to be closed for forensics, causing a traffic chaos around the city center of Recklinghausen.

The driver suffered  injuries in the accident, but was not trapped in his vehicle. He came to the hospital. Five more people also came to surrounding clinics. The 88-year-old elderly woman was initially taken to a hospital, where she died. Three injured were treated at the accident site.

As the fire department further communicated, were five emergency physicians, five ambulances and two ambulances of the cities Recklinghausen, Herten, Datteln, Castrop-Rauxel, Haltern am See, Gladbeck and Marl at the scene of the accident.
