Melbourne terror attack plot sus … ested in police raids

Three men arrested on suspicion of plotting a terror attack in Melbourne had tried to source a semi-automatic rifle to kill as many people as possible in a crowded space, police have alleged.
The men, who are aged between 21 and 30, are from the city’s northern suburbs, and had been under surveillance since March, police said.They said the men — two of whom are brothers — were inspired by the Islamic State terror group.
All three men have been charged with one count each of acting in preparation for, or planning of terrorist acts.
The men were arrested in counterterrorism raids this morning after their intentions of carrying out a mass killing “escalated” this week, Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said.
Mr Ashton said the men had not decided on a specific location for the attack.
“There was a view towards a crowded place where maximum people would be attending to be able to kill, we allege, a maximum amount of people as possible,” he said.
“[They were] certainly inspired by ISIS, we know that.”
The raids were conducted from 3:00am and involved more than 200 officers from Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and ASIO.
Mr Ashton declined to name the men, but said all three were Australian nationals whose passports were cancelled this year.
One of the men’s passports was cancelled in January, another in March and the third last month, he said.
“All three people are Australian nationals of Turkish background,” Mr Ashton said.

Trio ‘energised’ in past weekMr Ashton said the men had made attempts in the past few days to obtain a 0.22 semi-automatic rifle to carry out the attack, but would not confirm if attempts were made to obtain more than one rifle.
“Recently, over about the last week, they’ve become more energised so there’s certainly been a lot of publicity and talk about terrorism and certainly public place activity,” Mr Ashton said.
“We had the Bourke Street [car attack] trial on as well so there was certainly a lot of public awareness around mass casualties and terrorism over recent times.
“I don’t know whether that’s played a role or not. But certainly over the last week they’ve become energised about doing something more quickly.”
He said two of the men had no criminal history, while one had a minor record for failing to display L plates in 2007.
“Other than that there’s no criminal history or background, certainly no bail or anything like that applying in this case,” he said.
Mr Ashton said the trio’s use of encrypted communications made it difficult for police and intelligence agencies to discern their plans.
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has been pushing for new laws to make it easier for authorities to access messages sent through encrypted messaging apps.

Consequences ‘would have been chilling’AFP Assistant Commissioner Ian McCartney said if police and intelligence agencies had not acted decisively, many people might have been killed.
“We’ll allege the consequences would have been chilling, with … a potential significant loss of human life,” he said.
He said the charges the men would face carried a penalty of life in prison.
Assistant Commissioner McCartney said 90 people had been charged in relation to 40 counterterrorism investigations across Australia since September 2014, when the national threat level was raised.
He said the men’s passports were cancelled because of concerns they intended to travel to a “conflict zone”.
“At the time the decision was made, the concern was that they would travel offshore and may be involved in terrorist activity offshore,” Assistant Commissioner McCartney said.
He said it was important to note that authorities did not believe the attack was directed by ISIS.
“It’s an attack that’s been inspired by ISIS, driven by the propaganda machine, and unfortunately people are still listening to that propaganda machine.”
Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Ross Guenther said when radicalised people had their passports cancelled, they often turned their attention to organising attacks in their home country.
“When people are prevented from travelling or it’s difficult to get to the conflict zone, often the view will be, ‘Well I’ll change tack and commit an act in the country [in] which I live’. We’ve seen that all over the world,” Assistant Commissioner Guenther said.

No way! What a surprise, no one saw this coming! *rolls eyes* They know of thousands of other potential terrorists, so what are they waiting for? They insult and defame people like Avi Yemini, Pam and Robert Spencer who have been warning about Muslim terrorist plots for years and they do absolutely nothing about it.
The same is happening all over the West, Canada, USA, Europe, etc. And our politicians sit on their hands when they know vast numbers of Muslims are preparing to kill innocent citizens and they act all shocked when it happens and promise to do something about it, then go back to laughing with their buddies in their boardrooms.
They’ll only care the day the Muslims come after one of them. Here’s a crazy idea, how about detaining and deporting all Muslims that you suspect of plotting terrorism, including their Imams who are the chief instigators of these attacks?
How about coordinating with other countries to find out where the funding is coming from and arrest those terror financiers? How about arresting Muslims who give money to “charities” that we all know fund Hamas, AQ, ISIS and the Taliban?
This isn’t hard, if you pre-emptively go after all these potential terrorists, you’ll save lives and nip this problem in the bud before it gets out of control. Here’s another shocker, Islam is a cult of terrorism, hate, warfare against the unbelievers and that we need to ban Islam and deport all Muslims who are a threat and refuse to integrate.
Maybe one day the geniuses working in “intelligence” and police services will finally make that leap of logic, while they play Russian Roulette with our lives.

In this specific situation, I think it is relevant to remember that Australia has a muslim neibour, indonesia, who they trade with and oddly they send aid to, in order to build islamic schools. Indonesia is the largest concentration of muslim in the world at 252 million. It is interesting thou, that a muslim country as vast as indonesia is predominently third world and is being supported by a mere 24.2 million Australians.
As a final observation. I think it has now been proven beyond any doubt especially where the muslims are concerned that mixed race, religion, ethnicity multiculturalism does not work. muslims should live in muslim country’s and black lives matter people should live in black controlled country’s.

(Plus check out the movie Kingdom of Heaven, about one of the battles for Jerusalem, if you haven seen it )

Australia to cut immigration by 30,000 down from 190,000 to 160,000 a drop in a bucket when we should have cut it down to about 10,000. Australia has taken in over a million in last 6 years.

You hit the nail on the head. Just think how many innocent lives could be saved and resources used for more deserving things if the moslems were gone. Love the idea of what to use the mosques for, but I wouldn’t even want to house a dog in there before the place is exorcised and fumigated.

He was from Saudi Arabia. He was in the U.S. as a permanent resident hiding from Saudi Arabia. Jamal had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Washington Post claimed he was a journalist for them. Jamal was stupid. When he walked into that Saudi embassy he might as well have been going to Saudi Arabia where he was wanted. He was a dead man. An embassy has diplomatic immunity just as foreign diplomats do. He was going in the Saudi embassy to get proof of his divorce so he could remarry and more to Turkey.
Turkey and Saudi Arabia do not get along. Turkey wants the Iran deal to be resurrected and Saudi Arabia doesn’t. Saudi Arabia giving women over 30 the right to drive is watering down Sharia Law that Turkey advocates and so did Jamal who is connected to the hard line Muslim Brotherhood. The arms purchased from the U.S. by Saudi Arabia also makes them more powerful militarily than Turkey. I don’t think what they did was right to Jamal but frankly I really don’t care. That is they way Muslims are and it didn’t involve an American – Jamal was STUPID in walking into the Saudi embassy! He had no reason not to know better.
From what I can see, Trump is trying to offload the middle east Muslim problem on to Saudi Arabia as they try to loosen up Sharia Law and move beyond oil. With new technologies available the U.S. and other countries are not as dependent on oil for their wealth so Saudi Arabia is trying to reinvent itself to be a 5 star type of vacation paradise to maintain their wealth. As for selling them planes and stuff, if we don’t the EU will. One way or another Saudi Arabia will buy them. It might as well be the U.S that benefits. and tries to keep Iran in check.

If it were true that he was in America hiding from the Saudi gov, then how was he in the Saudi Arabia Embassy with his girlfriend waiting for him outside in the car? He was a ‘contributing’ journalist to the Washington Post. He was actively working with a group trying to overthrow the Saudi Monarchy. He was a Turkish spy. That’s why Turkey was demanding Trump get involved and investigate the death of this ‘journalist’, while it trampled journalists and dissidents in it’s own country.
From what I can see Trump is involving us in international espionage that we have no business being involved with, ESPECIALLY since Turkey and Saudi Arabia are islam, sharia law compliant countries that are NO friends to the United States. Saudi Arabia is where Osama Bin Laden was from. Saudi Arabia has been using it’s vast wealth and our addiction to it’s oil, to transform our country into a muslim nation, for decades, escalating it’s efforts after Obama bowed to their King. Turkey still has massive gatherings of it’s people, in which they burn the U.S flag and scream Death To America! Erdagon, the leader of Turkey still refers to America as the ‘Big Satan’ and Israel as the ‘Little Satan’.
Trump cannot continue to claim he is a champion of religious liberty while he continues to hold hands with these devils.

Forget the money. It’s not about money. If they get martyr money that is not the motivation.
They are willing to die for Allah for free! Muslims believe that if they die for Allah, killing infidels they will be guaranteed a place in paradise. Their “religion” is precarious and based on works. No kidding. When they take their last breathe they have to hope their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds. By committing jihad that doubt is gone. Giving your life is the ultimate sacrifice for Allah when you murder infidels along with you. So money isn’t the motivating factor . Their prime motivation is being guaranteed orgies in paradise. These people are fanatics and you never know when one or more will do this. This is what puts all of us at risk.
Watch for more attacks with Christmas coming up. View it this way, if you are going to die for Allah, don’t you want to murder as many of the infidel as possible? Malls, Christian events, concerts and any kind of western entertainment where there are large gatherings are magnets for these people. Muslims HATE Jews and Christians!

Kill as many people as possible in a crowded place? How about a major airport with many hundreds of passengers waiting to go through security. Everyone with packages and carry-on and so a suitcase bomb could easily be left behind in their midst and not be noticed. NO I am not the one suggesting it – an internet ISIS site brainstormed it first. Ironic while they conscientiously make people take off their shoes and empty bottles of soda, they create the perfect target for mass murder. I don’t fly anymore.
