Top House Committee Investigating Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey For Lying To Congress About Censoring Conservatives

Finally, the USG is stepping in to protect our First Amendment rights in the public square. This should be good. You bring the popcorn, I’ll get the bubbly.

Top House Committee Investigating Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey For Lying To Congress

The House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over telecommunications companies like Twitter, is now investigating Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for providing false testimony before the committee in September.

November 27, 2018 By Sean Davis

A top House committee that oversees the U.S. telecommunications industry is now investigating Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for lying to Congress during a hearing about Twitter’s controversial history of arbitrarily censoring content published by the site, an aide for the House Energy and Commerce committee told The Federalist.

Story continues below advertisement

“The committee is aware of Twitter’s actions and is currently reviewing Mr. Dorsey’s testimony,” the aide said after Twitter suddenly banned Jesse Kelly, a Marine combat veteran, writer, and popular radio talk show host, without explanation.

As The Federalist reported on Monday, Dorsey was not truthful about his or his company’s response to death threats against prominent conservatives — including against Meghan McCain shortly after the death of her father, former Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) — nor was he truthful about whether Twitter policies discriminated against users based on their politics. It is a federal crime to provide false testimony to Congress.

During testimony before the committee, which has broad authority to oversee and regulate telecommunications companies and social media publishers like Twitter, Dorsey repeatedly claimed that neither Twitter’s policies nor its algorithms took users’ political views into account when censoring content published by the site.

“I want to start by making something very clear,” Dorsey testified on September 5, 2018. “We don’t consider political viewpoints, perspectives, or party affiliation in any of our policies or enforcement decisions, period.”

“Our policies and our algorithms don’t take into consideration any affiliation, philosophy, or viewpoint,” Dorsey claimed again later in the hearing.

A review of Twitter’s so-called hateful conduct policy, however, shows that the company has explicitly codified political views into its policies. For example, the social media publisher states that it will ban users if they accurately refer to the biological sex of “transgendered” individuals who believe without evidence that biological men can become biological women, and vice versa.

“We prohibit targeting individuals with repeated slurs, tropes or other content that intends to dehumanize, degrade or reinforce negative or harmful stereotypes about a protected category,” Twitter’s policy states. “This includes targeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender individuals.”

“Deadnaming” is the use of an individual’s name on his or her original birth certificate that generally corresponds with the individual’s immutable biological sex, and “misgendering” is the accurate reference to an individual’s biological sex. Contrary to Dorsey’s claim before Congress that Twitter’s content and user censorship policies don’t take political viewpoints into account, a policy that discriminates against those who convey indisputably accurate scientific and historical information is by its very nature exclusively political.

The House Energy and Commerce committee aide also told The Federalist that Twitter and Dorsey have also refused to even respond to numerous questions for the record posed by the committee following the hearing.

“Twitter has not yet provided responses to members’ questions for the record, despite an October 15th deadline,” the aide said. “It is important that Congress receive this requested information to ensure we are able to properly perform our oversight responsibilities.”

The aide suggested that Twitter had not been honest or transparent with Congress about the social media publisher’s policies regarding censorship of the social media publisher’s content and users.

“We believe Twitter and other tech companies should be forthright with Congress and the American people in an effort to shed light on often opaque rules and processes,” the aide noted. “Transparency and trust are essential components of our increasingly digital communication channels.”

Twitter did not respond to inquiries from The Federalist about whether Dorsey planned to amend his false testimony, why the company had refused to provide answers to questions for the record from the House Energy and Commerce committee, and why it banned Kelly from the site.

“We prohibit targeting individuals with repeated slurs, tropes or other content that intends to dehumanize, degrade or reinforce negative or harmful stereotypes about a protected category. . . . This includes targeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender individuals.

Great. So Twitter is as much an enforcer of radical fringe Greenwich Village/San Francisco/Fire Island “values” as they and their fellow Silicon Valley denizens are of Sharia law. How is this type of censorship different from “prohibiting ‘Islamophobia’ “? Muslims, likewise, are considered “protected” . . . plus, the likes of Twitter, Facebook et al., seem to have no problem with dehumanizing unborn babies and degrading motherhood and children . . .

Never had a twitter account only because I know I’d be banned in no time.
I’d say something like ISLAM = EVIL and that would be the end of me.
I don’t feel like going through mental gymnastics to be politically correct.

On BB you can have trolls wasting time and always flagging comments.
Using the word SOROS on BB gets you instantly moderated. I don’t understand that.
It didn’t used to be this way……………

I also noticed that if you mention SOROS in a comment, you automatically get this:
“Hold on, this is waiting to be approved by Breitbart News Network.”
I haven’t had a problem yet with using the word Muslims on BB – just SOROS!
I should go back and see if the comment is removed on BB.
I won’t stop using his name. If need be, I will use spaces S O R O S or S*O*R*O*S* or some other way to state his vile name.

I was curious so I went back and checked my comments on Disqus on Breitbart.
There is nothing wrong or untruthful in what I stated. I just entered the name SOROS for another comment and sure enough it is removed when questioned.

It IS the word SOROS that bothers Breitbart.
I just put this out there again, today :

SOROS is funding this globally!
He demands OPEN BORDERS!

Later it will be “removed” like the others. What gives on BB?

They get water to shower with, food, medical supplies and MOVIES as they make their way up on vehicles. No kidding. The U.N. is involved and so is SOROS.

I wonder if George is aware that Disqus has blacklisted his Jewish surname from hundreds of blogs. Someone who knows George should contact him about what Disqus is doing, because it’s a very anti-Semitic way of “fighting hate speech”

Twitter permanently banned me and thousands of other accounts (mostly Conservatives and Atheists) who told the truth about Islam.

This was a long time in coming, I hope he ends up in a jail cell for his censorship and that they force Twitter to comply with the 1st Amend and unban all of our accounts that were wrongly censored.

I also hope they don’t let him walk away with a slap on the wrist. Social media has become an essential tool to allow billions of people to rapidly communicate their ideas. They should operate as a neutral public platform (which they promised to do but reneged).

The same should be done with Facebook, Google and Youtube. Incidentally I used to get a lot of recommended videos about Islam and now most of them have disappeared, so I believe YT is massively censoring negative information about Islam in the background.

It is essential people are educated because we are in a war against this very deadly death cult and if you don’t know about the threat, you are not prepared to defend yourself from it.

Why Leftists feel they must protect a dangerous ideology that is responsible for massive rape, murder and terrorism globally and which will eventually come after them too, is beyond me, regardless they need to be forced to comply with western values, esp. freedom of speech which is the cornerstone of all our other freedoms.

Yep, Jack Dorsey is definitely a moslem butt kisser! It’s really disgusting! And I got booted from talking about Eisenhower’s “Operation Wetback”! Apparently the “Wetback” was on their algorithm! Yet it wasn’t MY operation, it was a past president’s!

Agree. After facebook, twitter , even Google, youtube joins lslamofascist gang to support illegals and jihadis suppress conservative free speech http://tinyurl.com/lgp28rs

saudi/qatar/OIC own part of twitter, Fox Network, fund CNN, MSNBC , buy out politicians , bureaucrats in education dept to push islam in schools/ colleges. Easiest way to brainwash and takeover country and shutdown free speech !

If Dorsey gets punished at all, it will be because he did something and fell out of favor with the global elites. He may have to be the sacrifice they offer. It wont mean a thing and the others (Google, FB ,etc.) will just continue this practice.

The problem is that come January the Democrats will be taking over the House and all these telecommunication companies will get even worse. You have to remember that it was a Democrat in the House, who was joined later by other Democrats in the House and Senate along with the liberal media that have encouraged and supported violence against any citizen who dares to disagree with the Democrats. It was a Democrat in the house who threatened to murder any citizen that dared to obey the law and the Constitution. Something needs to be done, but we know that it will only get worse with the Democrats!

I run across some anti muz stuff/vids and post it to my FB timeline and presto within hours it sort of goes away. Took my awhile to realize what is going on. I agree with Pamela. Social media is the new public square. Free speech must be protected in the public square. If the HECC does not act quickly when the dummys take over in Jan this will all go away never to seen or heard of again.
