2020 Democrat hopefuls keep distance from Israel anti-boycott bill

This is not a surprise. These leading Democrat Senators have presidential aspirations, and they know they will not be able to win the Democrat Party’s nomination for President should they support legislation against the bigoted and racist BDS movement.

How sad that the vast majority of U.S Jews support (with votes and money) the anti-Semitic Democrat party. Worse, U.S Jews continue to fight, slander, and vilify the pro-Jewish and pro-Israel President Trump. Incredible.

“2020 Democratic hopefuls keep distance from Israel anti-boycott bill,” by Michael Wilner, Jerusalem Post, November 18, 2018

WASHINGTON – A bipartisan bill combating the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement making its way through Congress has earned the support of a majority of senators, save for a handful that share one thing in common: plans to run for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

No senator who has expressed an interest in running for president this cycle – Senators Kamala Harris of California, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York – has joined 57 of their colleagues to cosponsor the Israel Anti-Boycott Act.

The bill would shield Israel and Israeli businesses by criminally penalizing US persons seeking to participate in international boycotts of the state, and marks the most significant federal effort to legislate against the BDS movement to date. It follows on a model adopted by several US states, including New York, Texas, California and Florida, to prohibit discrimination on the basis of national origin….

Why should American’s face prison for boycotting Israeli products? This is what this bill is all about and this is what Geller supports. She is way off base.

Other states have passed anti BDS legislation.
Why would you want to allow religious discrimination against Jews by boycotting them?
Are you a Muslim?

Yes I know under pressure from the Israel lobby other states have passed this un-American law. That fact that most of the house and senate support this bill just proves how much Israel and its US Lobby control the United States.

It is not “religious discrimination” to boycott Israel over its actions in Gaza and the west bank. In fact many Jews support the boycott. The Israel lobby is trying to conflate opposition to Israel with “antisemitism” and it looks like they are having some success based on your comment.

If they succeed in passing this BDS law next I predict they will pass a law making it a crime to say anything critical of Israel. Is this the United States you want to live in?

It is religious discrimination. It is very AMERICAN to not discriminate in this manner.
As a MUSLIM, you know that. The parasitic Muslim squatters in the west bank need to go back to their Muslim countries where they belong.

Your MUSLIM cheer leading fools no one here as YOU try to conflate and evade religious discrimination. Your predictions are a joke.

Those anti-BDS laws are also facially unconstitutional, and several have had enforcement enjoined by the courts.

This proposal is one that would fall under: popular but unconstitutional, as there is no legitimate government interest served by punishing a mere opinion that isn’t also providing material aid and comfort to formally designated terrorists. I would vote no on this measure.

There are antisemites in BOTH major parties. The Democrats have no monopoly on bias and stupidity.
