Trump Helps Israel to Overcome New Russian Hostility in Syria

17

The Israeli air force is extremely active in Iran-controlled Syria. Hezbollah will often attempt to transfer deadly weapons from Syria into Lebanon. As a result, the Israeli air force will frequently (and rightfully) bomb Hezbollah targets in Syria. Recently, a Russian military plane was mistakenly shot down by a Syrian anti-aircraft missile. The incompetent Syrian military confused the Russian plane with an Israeli fighter jet. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to place the advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missile system in Syria, which could potentially prevent the Israeli air force from stopping Hezbollah weapons transfers from Syria into Lebanon.

Israel has been extremely concerned about the deadly S-300 SAM batteries reaching Syria and Iran. In response, Israel decided to purchase 50 of the American made F-35 (stealth) fighter jets, which are capable of evading and destroying any of the Russian anti-aircraft missiles. However, Israel has only received 12 of the jets. The full delivery of the 50 F-35 fighter jets will not occur until 2021.

Fortunately, Israel has President Trump. Unlike the pro-jihad President Obama, who would have let Israel twist in the wind, President Trump has personally ordered that the delivery of additional F-35 jets to Israel be expedited. Therefore, Israel will be able to defend itself against this new threat effectively and immediately.

Story continues below advertisement

Trump will expedite the delivery of more F-35 fighter jets to Israel in response to Russia transferring S- 300 SAM batteries to Syria.

AIPAC rarely (if ever) credits President Trump personally for his pro-Israel policies. AIPAC is clearly concerned about offending many of its anti-Trump (anti-Zionist) donors. Perhaps the folks at AIPAC are also concerned that President Trump is making their organization irrelevant.

ANALYSIS: Trump Helps Israel to Overcome New Russian Hostility in Syria

Israel Today, October 7, 2018:

Russia this week completed delivery of its advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missile shield to Syria following promises to do so two weeks ago when the Syrian army mistakenly downed an Ilyushin IL-20 reconnaissance airplane and falsely put the blame for the disaster on the Israeli Air Force (IAF).

On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry released a video showing the night-time delivery of the S-300 system which was flown to the Hmeimim airbase in the Latakia province in northwest Syria.

“We have finished personnel recruitment and have begun to train them,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said after the delivery of the S-300, referring to the fact that the Syrian army isn’t yet capable of operating the system.

“In conformity with the presidential decision, we have begun to carry out a number of measures to reinforce Syria’s air defense systems in order to ensure better protection for our servicemen,” Shoigu said according to the state-controlled Tass news agency.

“We have completed the delivery of S-300 systems. It included 49 pieces of equipment, including radars, control vehicles and four launchers,” the Russian DM added.

The Russians estimate it will take another three months before the Syrian army, which is today an Iranian proxy force, will be able to use the sophisticated missile shield.

Israel Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu earlier warned that giving the S-300 to Syria was “irresponsible,” and vowed to continue airstrikes against Iran-related targets in Syria.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo later called the move “a serious escalation” and said the deployment of the shield “presents greater risk to all of those in the affected areas and to stability in the Middle East.”

General Joseph Votel, the chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, also reacted to the delivery of the S-300 batteries to the Syrian military, calling it a “needless escalation”.

He added that the deployment “appears to be an effort to cover for Iranian and Syrian regimes’ nefarious activities in Syria.“

The delivery of the S-300 anti-aircraft batteries certainly constitutes a game-changer in the now seven-year-old Syrian civil war, but Israel and the United States are already adjusting their strategy to counter the new threat.

Tzachi Hanegbi, Israel’s minister for regional cooperation and a member of the country’s security cabinet, said on Thursday that the IAF will be able to beat the S-300.

“You know that we have stealth fighters, the best planes in the world. These batteries (S-300) are not even able to detect them,” Hanegbi told the Israeli paper Haaretz.

He was referring to the eight US-manufactured F-35I stealth warplanes currently in the possession of the IAF, and which are considered the best fighter jets in the world today.

The F-35I stealth warplanes are equipped with the AESA radar system, which suppresses signals from advanced missile shields such as the S-300.

Israel has purchased 50 of the F-35I Joint Strike Fighters (which operate under the name “Adir” in Israel) at a cost of $125 million each. The Jewish state was scheduled to receive the last of those planes no later than 2021.

That has changed now, according to Israeli media.

US President Donald Trump has reportedly ordered the immediate supply of additional F-35I jets after his meeting with Netanyahu on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly gathering last week.

These F-35I planes will be drawn from active US Air Force squadrons and will arrive in Israel soon.

At the same time, the US Air Force will deploy an additional squadron of its own F-35 stealth jets in the Middle East.

Until now, the American air force only had a squadron of F-35B warplanes aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex, which is stationed in the Western Pacific and carries out combat missions in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

The Trump Administration this week decided to deploy an additional squadron of F-35 fighter jets at the Al Dhafra air base south of Abu Dhabi.

Together, the Israeli and American F-35 stealth warplanes will be able to neutralize the threat posed by the S-300 anti-aircraft missile shield, and, as General Votel put it, continue their mission “in this environment.”

Trump’s courage is like no others that I have seen in my lifetime. He has become a life saver, and I expect the Russian’s are now rethinking their own attitude towards both Israel and the U.S. I have every reason to expect that Israel will soon make its point, with the U.S.’s approval, and take out these missile systems. I am hoping that the Russian people might raise an objection to Putin’s escalation, and help force Russia to reconsider its adversarial position towards Israel in the middle east, after recognizing that they are backing the wrong side. I can hope!

I have some news for the Russians. The serum army will NEVER be capable of “operating the system”.

Brilliant and bold move by Trump. In one stroke he wiped out any threat the S-300 system represented to Israel and US forces in Syria. What’s also hilarious is that the US acquired their own S-300 in the past which they’ve thoroughly studied, tested and learned to defeat.

Russia needs to take a step back and ask themselves if they really want to be on the same side as the terrorist Iranian Regime, Hezbollah and the Syrian Regime in this war, they are on the wrong side of history and one day they might realize they’ve bitten off more than they could chew. Additionally they only spend about $66 billion on their military, their GDP is just $1.2 trillion and they’re going up against a nation that spends $600 billion on its military and has a $20 trillion economy.

If I was Putin, I’d bow out of this high stakes poker game while my reputation, nation and head was still intact. This could easily spiral out of control and turn into a global war. Either way I’m glad to see the US step up to defend Israel. Not to mention there’s an excellent article outlining Trump/Bolton’s new aggressive policy towards defeating Islamic terrorism, definitely a great read:

why blame Russia ?

you have stupid reasons used to place sanctions on Russia like “Russian interfered in US elections” !
or….Russian interference in syria ! If Russia has not stopped Obama/saudi/Turkey Sunni jihadi and ISIS
syria would be bigger mess with Terrorists running the show with another 240,000 dead not to speak of sex slaves by the 10,000’s like in Libya

And you club them with Iran jihadis with sanctions ! Then you wonder why they support Iran ?!

It will be interesting to watch F-35 go against S-300 (Less advanced than S-400) and see who wins

Putin has basically answered: yes, willing to goad the USA into spending money there when the USA is massively divided. He’s hoping Israel makes a mistake. Remember, it’s not just Russia, but Russia and China.

Well Israel’s survival is on the line and they won’t back down no matter what, which means the US stays in the game, even if they’re just arming and funding Israel.

When the dust settles Israel will still be standing, Syria will be demolished and the Russians will slink back to Russia and lick their wounds like they did in Afghanistan in the Cold War.

The only way the US /Israel could lose is if Russia breaks out the nukes but that means they’ll be destroyed too, they won’t go that far.

I think you watched too many Superman cartoons or something, that won’t happen.

You remember the Cuban missile crisis? US/Russia were at the brink of war but the Russians backed down.

The Russians have more to lose and little to gain in their current conflict. They won’t be stupid enough to use nukes.

All foreign nations should just stay out of Syria, it is far too messy and complicated at this point.

I partly agree with you but at the same time we can’t now allow Syria to be turned into a terrorist state from which they’d launch attacks against us. They need to install pro-western governments in these Islamic states and begin to wipe out the terrorist cells, or we might have to go back again in the future.

I find it interesting that a Russian made Syrian artillery missile system shot down a RUSSIAN plane. Evidently, despite Russia’s claims of having an advance military…..it’s actually not that advanced. A Russian missile system should have been programmed to NOT shoot down it’s own aircraft.

I thought the Israelis were gonna nail it on delivery. The best way, actually. Now they’ll be facing an activated one.

Anyway, I always wanted to see what the SS-300 and the more advanced SS-400 could do. The Russians always exaggerate their military abilities to make the West fear them.

Remember the MIG Foxbat that flew over Israel at an unheard of supersonic speed awhile back? It put the West on notice but later found out it could only do that by destroying its engine in the process.
