The Mainstream Media Lies To Americans Every Day, What Happens When Those Lies Become The Truth?

15

Last weekend, New York Times writers, Kenneth Vogel and Matthew Rosenberg, provided a textbook example of how the mainstream media actively supports, and provides cover for, the agendas and lies of Democratic legislators and government officials by presenting and shaping the news in a way that helps advance the liberal narrative. The problem is, that because so many people form their world views by reading and listening to skewed versions of the news, these lies become the truth for many Americans.

Many of you may have read this article which was entitled “Agents Tried to Flip Russian Oligarchs. The Fallout Spread to Trump.”

The premise of the article is that, between 2014 and 2016, the FBI and the DOJ had tried to recruit Russian billionaire and Putin ally, Oleg Deripaska, as an intelligence asset. Bruce Ohr and Christopher Steele were involved in this operation.

Story continues below advertisement

The purpose of the article appears to be a deliberate attempt to justify the many meetings that took place between Bruce Ohr and Christopher Steele. It was likely written to mitigate the damage caused by Bruce Ohr’s testimony before Congress last week. The authors attempt to convince readers that these meetings were mostly about the Deripaska case. Some of the later ones, they tell us, may have been about the Trump dossier, as they try to downplay their importance.

While Mr. Steele did discuss the research that resulted in the dossier with Mr. Ohr during the final months of the campaign, current and former officials said that Mr. Deripaska was the subject of many of the contacts between the two men between 2014 and 2016.

Regarding Deripaska, the FBI/DOJ offered to help him obtain US visas and try to “address his legal problems. In exchange, they were hoping for information on Russian organized crime and, (oh yeah maybe) later on, possible Russian aid to President Trump’s 2016 campaign.”

The plan was to turn six Russian oligarchs into informants and they had a zero success rate. Mr. Deripaska told American investigators that:

He disagreed with their theories about Russian organized crime and Kremlin collusion in the campaign, a person familiar with the exchanges said. The person added that Mr. Deripaska even notified the Kremlin about the American efforts to cultivate him.

The story reads like propaganda. The most egregious part is actually the caption appearing under a photo of Bruce Ohr. It reads “One of the players in the effort to cultivate Mr. Deripaska was Bruce G. Ohr, the Justice Department official who has recently become a target of attacks by Mr. Trump over his ties to the former British spy Christopher Steele.”

Think about that. Ohr has become a target of attacks by Mr. Trump? Suddenly the hunter becomes the hunted.

The authors ridicule the conservative view of the Mueller investigation,

casting it as part of a vast, long-running conspiracy by a “deep state” bent on undermining Mr. Trump. In their telling, Mr. Ohr and his wife — who worked as a contractor at the same research firm that produced the dossier — are villainous central players in a cabal out to destroy the president.

Glenn Simpson, the founder of Fusion GPS, has testified under oath that Ohr’s wife, Nellie, a Russia expert who is fluent in Russian, was hired specifically to work on the dossier project. She was not merely “working at the same research firm that produced the dossier.”

Ohr and Steele held an inconsequential meeting with Deripaska in September 2015 and he would not agree to a second meeting. However, in September 2016, FBI agents appeared without warning at his New York apartment.

By then, they (the FBI) were already investigating possible ties between Russia and the Trump campaign, and they pressed Mr. Deripaska about whether his former business partner, Mr. Manafort, had served as a link to the Kremlin during his time as Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman.

It was not only the F.B.I. that was concerned about Russian interference in the final months of the campaign. American spy agencies were sounding an alarm after months of intelligence reports about contacts between Trump associates and Russians, and Moscow’s hacking of Democratic Party emails. (American intelligence agencies would later conclude that the interference was real and that Russia had acted to boost Mr. Trump’s candidacy.)

By combining the two allegations in one sentence, contacts between Trump associates and Russians and Moscow’s hacking of Democratic Party emails, they are deliberately misleading readers into believing that both statements are true. They want their readers to believe that Trump was in on it, yet no evidence of collusion has surfaced after two years of investigations.

There was also a growing debate at the highest levels of the Obama administration about how to respond without being seen as trying to tip the presidential election toward Hillary Clinton.

Come ON! More like, how do we accomplish this without getting caught?

Mr. Deripaska, though, told the F.B.I. agents that while he had no love for Mr. Manafort, with whom he was in a bitter business dispute, he found their theories about his role on the campaign “preposterous.” He also disputed that there were any connections between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to the person familiar with the exchange. The Justice Department’s efforts to cultivate Mr. Deripaska appear to have fizzled soon after, amid worsening relations between the United States and Russia.

Deripaska, who would most likely have had knowledge of any arrangements between the Trump campaign and Russia, would have had much to gain by disclosing it (help with US visas and his legal problems with US government). Also, he strongly disliked Manafort.

The article drags on with more tedious details of activity between the DOJ and Deripaska trying to establish a rationale for all the meetings and communications between Ohr and Steele.

This article is a perfect illustration of how the mainstream media and Democratic officials work as a team to undermine the Trump administration. And this is only one article in one newspaper on one day. We can extrapolate to estimate the impact this practice has had over the course of Trump’s candidacy and presidency. These journalists are not keeping the American people informed. They are presenting a distorted version of the news, which is lying. Through the use of propaganda, the mainstream media supports the agendas of liberal lawmakers and officials. And this distortion of the truth is the cause of much of the political divisions in our society today.

I understand the proper context of this verse in how it relates to Christians but would it be so improper to extend that to include the “delusion” of Marxism and Islam being sold to us? There sure is allot of unrighteousnes going on out there!

2Thes.2:11-12
[11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I don’t care so much about myself, but as a parent, I worry about the future for my kids.

There’s plenty to worry about, but teaching kids morality and individuality is enough for them to figure these things out themselves (sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof). There will always be succor when asked for.

They will also understand that some people are not good, and to move past them.

I do lament the poor parent that entrusts a godless State to raise their children for them. But their realization will dawn when their State indoctrinated offspring get to decide on an early end-of-life option.

Great and interesting article. The attempt by these reporters to vilify Trump and his associates, and the attempt to justify Ohr’s contacts, at least to me, and I hope most others, falls on deaf ears. It is outrageous that the media, which is granted the constitutional liberties of a free press, continue to shape the news to satisfy their anti-Trump agenda. It’s mortifying to me, as I am concerned that this improper conduct will adversely affect the thinking of those not able to separate fact from fiction and real news from opinion. Unfortunately, there is no way to stop the media from this awful conduct. I am hoping that the next election will result in those, like me, who understand the negative intent of the Democratic Party and the media, and they will keep the liberals and Democrats out of elected office.

I know this is a late response to a comment, but stumbled upon this article when I searched, “mainstream media lie of the day”, I searched that phrase in google, yahoo, start page and duck duck go, and the only search engine that didn’t return articles mostly speaking of Trump lies (versus what I clearly searched) was duck duck go. Regardless, this article outlines what I recognize in almost every mainstream media article I read – willful misleading. If they were after the truth at the NYT’s they would’ve been intellectually honest and gone after the “more there” potential of the dubious connections between Ohr, his wife, Steele, Fusion GPS, the DNC etc. Hell, there’s more “there” there than what they’re insinuating otherwise, but no, instead they Dem-splain away the fact that their “side” are the ones getting caught “colluding” to undermine a candidate in an election, and twist their getting caught around to be more “proof” that they’re on to something with the collusion thing and while they’re at it, throw some lies into the article as truths.

Hard to believe that anything American agents are doing in Russia is unknown to the Russians.

Lying is a form of contempt. And why tyrants justify its use on you. They think you are their slaves not worthy of truth from them.

It would be below their dignity to tell you any truth.

And this is why we have bloody and violent revolutions from time to time. You put the asses in for the New World Odor and now you find it disagreeable?.
