Homegrown Terror Threats Rise in the U.S. for Third Consecutive Month
6 arrested or convicted in August for working on behalf of ISIS

Story continues below advertisementJihadist threats from homegrown terrorists rose for the third consecutive month, with at least six people arrested or convicted in August of attempting to launch attacks on behalf of the Islamic State and other terror networks, according to a new congressional report.
The increase in jihadist incidents from July brings to 159 the total number of cases related to homegrown terrorism across 30 states since 2013, the House Homeland Security Committee found in its monthly report on terrorism in the United States.
“Cases of homegrown Islamist extremism in the U.S. continue to be an issue of concern,” according to the committee report, which tracked the first uptick in this type of activity in June following five months of stagnation.
Last month, ISIS released a new audio message purportedly from its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, calling for more attacks in the West. If verified, the recording is the first to feature al-Baghdadi in nearly a year and disproves Russian reports that its military killed him in an airstrike in Syria.
The Pentagon recently said ISIS remains a threat and is “well positioned” to rebuild despite substantial military defeats against the group that led to the collapse of its self-proclaimed “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. Rep. Michael McCaul (R., Texas), who chairs the Homeland Security Committee, has warned the group still has the capacity to conduct external operations against the United States and its allies.
On Aug. 10, a Chicago native now living in Israel was indicted for attempting to travel to join ISIS after traveling with two other people from Chicago to Egypt before reaching Turkey. Faress Muhammad Shraiteh, 21, was denied entry into Turkey, but the other two were granted entry and successfully reached ISIS.
Two weeks later, a 25-year-old man living in Florida was indicted by a grand jury for distributing information regarding explosives and attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist group.
At least one terror plot was foiled in Europe over the same period.
Shortly after authorities arrested a Russian citizen on suspicion of planning a terror attack in Germany on Aug. 22, an Afghan asylum seeker seriously injured two Americans in a stabbing attack in Amsterdam.
Violent extremists hoping to attack the United States from within remain a top concern for the FBI in 2018.

“homegrown” … Excuse me, Natalie? What is ‘homegrown’ about Jihadis?
Americans grow wheat, corn, alfalfa, barley, and raise cows, pigs, and chickens. Nothing Americans grow comes out as Jihad. Even American’s sins and crimes are not Islamic. If an American sin, shame, or sorrow is not connected to the Demokkkratic party, it is not American.
Americans are self-reliant, self-effacing, humble, strong, brave, courageous, intelligent, educated, rugged individualists who love their Country and respect our God: Everything weak-kneed, arrogant, conceited, proud, cowardly, brain-washed, socialist snowflakes are not.
What you mean, Natalie, are an invasive species identifying as Muslim that has entered the country with the help of traitors and occupied a zip code.

Well said. From my perspective these people who become terror inclined become so because they come from a culture that is very foreign to what we here in the states’ practice. That is the underlying problem, but “political correctness” keeps us from seeing that reality. Although all immigrants are generally welcomed here, they must come here respecting and fully accepting what America stands for. We are a people that are ruled by a Constitution that grants us certain liberties, which we consider sacrosanct, and we live under a secular, not theocratic government.. Those coming from the Muslim world arrive expecting theocratic control and their own legal system (Sharia). As a result, some of them turn to the terror conduct which is promoted in their belief system. Until we accept those are the “facts of life,” we are in for the fight of our lives as they move into politics and attempt to change what America is all about. At no previous time have immigrants come here expecting to bring their culture and belief system as a priority like these people. That is the problem we are dealing with, and one can only hope that down the road, our leaders fix that problem that this nation faces from these believers. Obviously, the liberals and the media refuse to see or speak to that reality.

Yes, entirely true. I have worked with many Muslims from foreign countries, and their morals, ethics, values, and judgment are terrifying to anyone with an ounce of common sense or the brain cells God gave to a mosquito. As Nefarious pointed out, we do have converts too, but I prefer calling them ‘domestic converts’ or ‘local converts’ or ‘converted residents.’ They’re always bad apples.
For example: We have one Muslim convert in our extended family, and … drum roll please … he is a convicted child molester who has managed to rack up 12 years behind bars. … Not anyone I would fraternize with or have over for dinner, much less agree with on any subject beyond bread, water, air, and a high electrified fence between the two of us.

Homegrown terrorists are usually the worst of the worst in prison that convert to Islam because it often lightens their sentence, and gives already dangerous people a feeling of belonging and a new mission to complete.
Homegrown terrorists are also often kids rebelling against their parents and seeking a religion that will really piss them off, they are jaded angst ridden and full of anger and hate, just waiting for a cause to put it all to evil use.
The average muslim will donate to terrorism, and carry out jihad through donations, and civil disobedience up until a time they hit a significant minority status of about 5%-10% of any population, before that they masquerade as loving peaceniks wanting to spread peace, loving homosexuals, and caring about minority rights.

True, but identifying prison converts and other such converts to ‘Islam’ as “homegrown” sounds as if it is inspired by American values, which it is not. Better labels would be “domestic, resident, or local.” Or explain it.
Every group has its bad apples, but I do not want to judged or labeled by the bad apples who share little more than a zip code with me and my neighbors. Using “homegrown” is an ‘admission’ to the drone reader that something is rotten ‘with’ America. That’s all I am expressing.

I do not disagree with you, homegrown are however those classified as American Born citizens. The way we arrest people in this country and the prison system promotes and rewards radicalisation it is surprising how few terror attacks we really have.

i am forced to deal w/them in my job¬ allow to ‘carry’. Some places I go,even the atmosphere has a bad feeling to it. They go way overbrd,showing how ‘friendly’they are.One even wanted me to teach his son(an evil looking dude)how to hunt.I ain`t about to go in woods w/one of them.Other day,one gave me a banana,I tossed it in dumpster at a store.We have over 200 somalies in I.C.,Ia. So many left and many idiots in the world still believe the Muslims are religion of peace, even last night on Sky News Australia channel 44 on TV, Paul Murray had three panelist saying that the Muslims need a chance. The Muslims have been given far more than a chance to be part of Australia and they show their respective with violent Apex Muslim gangs. Not just in Victoria, button other states.
We have to drive every Muslim out, even the converted from every Christian, and other faith countries that is not Muslim.
Every terrorist should meet his own date with the bombs they were going to set off, blow them to hell.
