Facebook Removes Anne Frank Center Holocaust Post For ‘Violating Standards’

Facebook removed a post from the Anne Frank Center that was about the Holocaust because the social media censors deemed it in violation of “standards.”

The social media company has subsequently apologized.

But how does that happen on the first place?

The post, on Facebook and Twitter — which Twitter let stand — was about the lack of state laws requiring Holocaust education.

More, from Breitbart:

Facebook removed a post from the Anne Frank Center about the Holocaust for “violating standards,” and subsequently apologized for the action.

Facebook removed a post from the Anne Frank Center about the importance of Holocaust education this week. The post, which focused on the lack of state laws that require Holocaust education, was allegedly removed for including photographs of naked Holocaust child victims. The The post, which was made to both Facebook and Twitter, was only removed by Facebook.

“These numbers are alarming, but this is why we do what we do. Currently only 10 states mandate Holocaust and Genocide Education. How do we counter ignorance about the Holocaust with knowledge, compassion, and understanding?” the post read.

After news of the post’s removal spread online, Facebook apologized and put it back up. “@AnneFrankCenter, we put your post back up and sent you a message on FB. We don’t allow nude images of children on FB, but we know this is an important image of historical significance and we’ve restored it,” Facebook said in response to the group on Twitter.

In a statement, the Anne Frank Center blasted Facebook not only for the removal of their post, but for their role in allowing several Holocaust denial pages to remain in operation.

Holocaust denial dehumanizes people. It makes thousands feel unsafe. It violates the very standards Facebook lays out for it users. Yet these hate-filled propaganda pages remain.

We have written to Facebook previously offering to work with them to tackle the spread of Holocaust denial and hate on its platform and to promote education.

Some users on social media used the situation to opine on the state of social media content moderation.

Earlier in August, Facebook deleted a campaign ad from Republican congressional candidate Elizabeth Heng because it included footage from the Cambodian genocide, which her parents survived.

“It is unbelievable that Facebook could have such blatant disregard for the history that so many people, including my own parents, have lived through,” Heng said at the time. “I’m sure it is shocking for some people to hear about this kind of injustice, but this is reality. This is why I wake up every single day with the fight and determination to have a voice and make a difference in my community.”

Fakebook’s blanket filtering of anything “displaying nudity” is to blame here no doubt.
It’s totally idiotic, they’ve banned people for posting photos of paintings and statues because they were interpreted as pornography.

Guess it’s part of their shariah complaince.

After facebook, twitter , even Google, youtube joins lslamofascist gang to support illegals and jihadis
suppress conservative free speech http://tinyurl.com/lgp28rs

saudi/qatar/OIC own part of twitter, Fox Network, fund CNN, MSNBC , buy out politicians , bureaucrats in education dept to push islam in schools/ colleges. Easiest way to brainwash and takeover country and shutdown free speech !

History will be forgotten if we do not teach the young. I did not like history until I had a really good political science teacher in high school. Mr. Cooper, his favorite saying, “might makes right”. We cannot let history be erased because we will not stand up for right. We can prevent this but it will take the might of all of us to defeat what is being unleashed onto to world.

Breaking: Jon Kyl to replace McCain until 2020
– Jon Kyl is a RINO

Show us the report you claim Kyl is writing to cover up Facebook bias. I already found several liberal organizations that wanted Kyl stopped from investigating Facebook bias so it appears you support left wing bias.

Having read other postings you have made I don’t think you are a left wing nut, so you must be just confused concerning Kyl.

Post up this report you claim Kyl is covering up for Facebook. Put up or shut up. You failed on your other Kyl scandal accusation.

It seems to me that this conduct is based on the underlying anti- Semitism that permeates societies seemingly everywhere. While I recognize that at one time presenting anyone without cloths on would have been pornographic, pictures that speak to a historical reality should never be allowed to fall into that type of category. It seems to me that though that might be the first reaction of someone seeing the picture, that others became involved in deciding what Facebook should do, and that those others were either without basic smarts or they acted with anti-Semitic behavior to shut down the post.

It’s book where people post about themselves.
They should call it the narcissism book.
😉
Twitter is even more fun! You can tweet and tell everyone that you are going out to dinner or maybe you didn’t like your breakfast and people will follow your every move with an opinion of course! 😉

Facebook does not care about JEWS, only MUSLIMS (a much more popular victim category for most people on the left).

Facebook is no more or less than a Leftist-Fascist propaganda factory. They, as are all of the left, fear and detest historical facts and will do its utmost to sanitize or censor history; more so, the historical facts that are not of their bigoted, antisemitic core of loathing. The so-called reasoning for this censorship is as vacuous as the drones addicted to this alleged social media site.

History within the educational system is optional in many school districts throughout the nation. Feeding history students, a rarity, a sterilized version of regurgitated leftist dogma where we, of Western Civilization, were and remain the Great Satan.

That facebook censored and removed the post about Anne Frank clearly shows that their algorithms are functioning properly. Doing exactly as planned and programmed to do. They’re just squawking like stuffed pigs because they got caught and called out about it…just like the NYslimes.

How many other non liberal extremist posts get censored and removed without getting caught??

The Diary of Anne Frank is a highly unusual book, IMO. It was written by someone who was a child, really. It was never meant to be read by anyone, yet it became a worldwide international best seller, and was made into a play and then a movie. It moved more people than Hitler ever did.

Shortly after the book was published a professor who read the book entirely said it was so engrossing he did not notice the movement of soldiers and trucks outside his apartment.

I am still miffed the Eaton Press does not include it in its greatest 100 books ever written list.

Anne Frank’s diary was required reading when I was a high school freshman. It’s a shame that any reference to her is considered an abomination by FB.

And it is a bigger shame that MZ is Jewish. He could be doing so much to tell the story Jewish history in Europe but instead has chosen to be Sharia compliant.

The holocaust of WWII is only a small part of the 2000 year history of the attempts of European Christians to exterminate the Jewish people. Unless Jewish history is included as part of the history of Europe, which it is, the true meaning of the Holocaust and the re-founding of the State of Israel will be lost.

I was about 30 years old before I realized my own ignorance of the history of the Jews in Europe. Upon first learning it from Michener’s The Source I began to devour works on Jewish history and in doing so became more and more angry of the knowledge of which I had been deprived from my Catholic education. I have always felt that accurate historical fiction, such as The Source, should be included in history classes.

I first read the diary of Anne Frank as a high school assignment. Some years later, I re-read it and got a bit curious. Turns out that my mother is essentially the same age as Anne Frank, which would make her about 91 years old now. Since then, when I come across info about the Anne Frank diary, in my mind I can see that being my mother. From pictures I’ve seen when my mother was that age, she sort of resembled Anne Frank. Had my grandparents not fled the pogroms in eastern europe for America about 50 years earlier, the story of Anne Frank could easily be about my mother.

Somehow, the history books just don’t report the late 19th and early 20th century pogroms against the Jews of eastern europe.

I am glad that your mother and her family got out.
My husband’s father was in France for the duration of WWII and luckily his family survived in part because their rabbi destroyed the congregation register. My husband was born in 1949 and they came here in 1952. His German uncle however lost his entire family.

Why would Facebook be censoring anything? If the government gets a warrant or a subpoena and demands information because they think someone posted something illegal, Facebook can comply with the order. Otherwise, how could it be any of their business what people post? How can it possibly be Facebook’s job to act like editors and publishers?

Something is rotten in Facebook, no doubt about it.
