Daily Caller: Chaos gripped the opening moments of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing Tuesday, as Democratic senators attempted to delay proceedings while protestors heckled Republican lawmakers.
As GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, gave his opening statement, Democrats urged the panel to adjourn and delay the hearing, in view of the release of 42,000 documents relating to Kavanaugh’s prior service in the executive branch on Monday night.
“We cannot possibly move forward, Mr. Chairman,” Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris of California said, arguing that the hearing should be delayed until those records were reviewed.
Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse argued the hearing should be deferred while the committee attempts to determine whether the Trump administration validly asserted executive privilege over certain documents Kavanaugh produced in the Bush White House. Grassley was informed by President George W. Bush’s presidential records representative Friday night that approximately 30,000 documents Kavanaugh generated as a White House lawyer would not be released given their supposed sensitivities

Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar, Richard Blumenthal, Cory Booker, Mazie Hirono, Chris Coons, and Patrick Leahy also urged Grassley to adjourn the hearing.
Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, the ranking member of the committee, noted that Kavanaugh’s nomination was submitted as former aides and campaign advisors to President Donald Trump were indicted or convicted, suggesting an embattled president should not make appointments to the high court.
Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin invoked the legacy of the failed nomination of Judge Merrick Garland, noting the GOP held his nomination in abeyance for nearly a year.
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn of Texas argued that Democratic senators would be removed for contempt of court if the hearing were taking place in a judicial setting, and elsewhere accused them of conducting the hearing by mob rule.
GOP Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, citing an NBC report, accused the Democratic leadership of coordinating Tuesday’s outbursts with liberal advocacy groups. Durbin subsequently confirmed the report.
The Democratic interventions were repeatedly supported by loud shouts, applause, and cheering from progressive activists in the back of the hearing, many of whom were forcibly removed by Capitol Police.
“Kavanaugh is a danger to the future of America,” one demonstrator said, fearing Kavanaugh would provide the fifth vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“This should be an impeachment hearing, not a confirmation hearing,” another said, referencing President Donald Trump.

Fox News’ Shannon Bream reported that Kavanaugh’s daughters were escorted out of the hearing room as the interruptions continued.
Grassley eventually proceeded by reading a portion of his opening statement addressing the concerns Democrats broached.
“The American people have unprecedented access and more materials to review for Judge Kavanaugh than they ever had for a Supreme Court nominee,” Grassley said. “And to support the review of Judge Kavanaugh’s historic volume of material, I’ve worked to ensure that more senators have more access to more material than ever.”
He added that Democratic complaints over the scope of document production were “boring,” as they have been repeated for much of the summer.
Kavanaugh was accompanied to the hearing by his family and senior members of the Trump administration.

The in a way that Democrats are acting in these scotus hearings is
reminescent of Charles Manson and his girls during the Manson trial.
The Democratic party is a sick cult akin to the Mayo Palombo type cult that kidnapped a Christian college student and ripped his brain from his skull by means of a machete. Did you listen to the Democrats and their Manson family chorus in the background? This is what is going to take over in 2018?

I’m not sure , why dems should not get time to go over 30,000 documents . give them 60 days . After that their objections won’t have any validity. Not doing so would only make their stand justified
Other issues like presidents ex-aides under prosecution by scumbag mueller does not hold water.

It does not take 30,000 documents to determine the man’s qualifications to be a SCJ. It does take 30,000 documents if they want to engage in a witch hunt similar to what they are doing in the Mueller Investigation.

I prefer to call their bluff by letting them know that they announced their objection of Kavanaugh months ago; and in the case of Kamila Harris she announced her objection before he was even nominated. So obviously there is nothing in more documents that will alter their vote.
As I see it, letting them know that the request for more documents is recognized as a stall technique would be calling their bluff. If you give them 60 more days you will have give them what they want, which is a stall for time.

That is correct why have a hearing when a group of 13 Progressives wrote to Schumer stating that his job is to assure that ALL Democrats vote against Kavanaugh? This is in addition to the disruption to the proceeding by Harris et. al. Is it not obvious that they will oppose anyone nominated by Trump. So why allow them to postpose the process?
