Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia agree to keep trying to maintain trade with Iran

“Mindful of the urgency and the need for tangible results, the participants welcomed practical proposals to maintain and develop payment channels, notably the initiative to establish a special purpose vehicle to facilitate payments related to Iran’s exports, including oil,” said European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini. So the EU thinks that there is some “urgency” to “maintain and develop payment channels,” i.e., to keep European money flowing into Iran. Why are Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia so eager to fund Iran’s nuclear program and violent repression of its own people? These short-sighted and venal states deserve the condemnation of all free people for this, and if the Iranian mullahs succeed in firing off nuclear weapons against Israel or anyone else, the blood will be on their hands.

“Major powers, Iran agree to keep trying to maintain trade,” Reuters, September 25, 2018 (thanks to Mark):

The remaining parties to the Iran nuclear deal said on Monday they agreed to continue work to create a special mechanism to maintain trade with Iran, including in oil, following the US withdrawal from the 2015 pact.

“Mindful of the urgency and the need for tangible results, the participants welcomed practical proposals to maintain and develop payment channels, notably the initiative to establish a special purpose vehicle to facilitate payments related to Iran’s exports, including oil,” European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told reporters after a meeting of senior officials from Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and Iran.

Agree. Iran shud not get funds. But blocking sale of oil is only jacking price of oil with no real end goal is foolish idea.

Its like police are sent to kill an armed terrorist among crowd and instead of aiming at him , you go spray bullets all around killing innocent civilians. Present snctions is just as ridiculous.

Its better to target the mullahs and not ordinary iranians and rest of the world. A oil for food and medicines would allow basic necessities and prevent funds for jihadis and keep oil prices lower.

Or…oil prices will shoot up beyond $120/barrel after Nov sanctions kicks in

I don’t know much about the oil business, but I don’t understand if our production is so high….why are our prices for gas here in the USA so high?
Why are we sending our oil somewhere instead of keeping our prices down? And if we’re are the highest producing right now….why is our gas so expensive?

Supply and demand. With sanctions on Iran, and Saudi Arabia unlikely, despite assurances to the contrary, to increase production, supply will be even more. Oil companies desire profit first. $100/gallon before the election is an expectation, and Democrats will use that against Trump and his Republican-backed candidates.

Price of oil is based on international prices. US prices are low compared to other countries including china, india 2 biggest importers of oil and gas

I have to respond to your assertion that the price of crude is based on int’l prices. The price oil is traded at is indeed the same for all buyers and sellers but the price in Europe at the pump is mostly cost shifted social spending onto the shoulders of those who consume oil. If the oil companies charged $7.00/gal there would be a revolution in the US.

What difference does it make? We are still paying the same price at the pump as we were when oil was $140 a barrel. To he** with iran. Keep the sanctions going, and impose them on the above named countries also. As long as they want to keep doing business with iran they are helping the jihadis.

Then enjoy the high price ! Its expected to go even higher above $120 a barrel , when total shutdown of exports starts !
you really think it will work ? Did sanctions on Cuba for how many decades has it been made them give up ? LOL !
Iranian mullahs are even bigger fundamentalists than communist cubans.

If I’m not mistaken, it has been as high as 145 a barrel in years past. At least now wages have increased a bit to help with the higher cost. We have no right to try and change other countries and how they are run. That should be up to the people who have to put up with it, sort of like it is supposed to be here. cuba and iran be damed.

britain, china, france germany and russia you forgot to add canada. None of these countries are our friends, so why are we still propping them up financially? They can all ask iran for help and see what they get.

If these countries pursue trade deals with Iran, anyone who buys French wine drives a BMW or Mercedes we need to start calling them terrorist sympathizers shame them for buying products from these countries

From the gang of despots and their whores (China, Russia, France & Germany) I expect nothing, but from the UK which is “ruled” by what are supposed to be conservative Tories, I expected after India / Japan / South Korea and most other oil importers severed their commercial ties with Iran if not common sense, some ‘around the corner’ (the 4th of November US oil embargo on Iran coming into play) political foresight and at least a distancing from this hopeless, anti American coalition

Trump should slap TMay for this pro Iranian treachery

Trump does not honor the JCPOA because Israel does not like it, then he threatens and blackmails every country with tariffs because they do not agree with his crazy views. – The EU, China, Russia, all free sovereign countries who dare go against his mad wishes and legally trade with Iran. Tariffs on China and Turkey for buying Russian military equipment, Germany for daring to buy Russian gas instead of US gas. Ireland because they may ban goods illegally produced in occupied territories, North Korea for developing nuclear weapons, Russia and Iran for being legally in Syria helping to prevent illegal US attacks on that country. Every single country in the world threatened if they do not conform to his wishes.

Trump is excellent. Nothing about his reasoning are “crazy views”. You’re the one who is totally delusional and crazy. The enormous damages created to trade and security around the world by the disgusting socialists in the EU, Obama and Clinton’s – is being dismantled. It’s for everyone’s good. Of course, you can move to Russia if you don’t like a more decent world.

Everyone we helped are now stabbing US in the back. From a Negro Moslem to a united Europe. It is said that Germany will one day attack America. Or perhaps a United Europe.

If this is true I still see it a far off. Decades away….. Doesn’t make sense. But neither did having a Negro “President”.

So there is hope for this prophecy to come true.

But Britain, France and Germany are willingly trading with a country which sponsors terrorism throughout the world and is responsible for killing their citizens.

The headline lists all of the countries that we should now consider the enemies of America….We already know what they are doing to their own citizens….we can’t let them do it to us….
And the only way to stop them is make sure we vote in the Midterms to stop the Dims and RINOs from working with them to destroy us…
When I see the stories about what these countries are doing to their own people I flash back to the time in history of when Hitler and Stalin were rising….right before the wars started……very frightening.
