The body of the girl called Hameya, whom authorities estimate was aged between seven and 10, was found on Sunday night, Naqibullah Amini, police spokesman for the northwestern province of Badghis, said.Hameya’s husband was on the run from police and her father had been detained for questioning, Amini added.’

Provincial governor’s spokesman Jamshid Shahabi said Hameya was married under a tradition known as ‘badal’, when girls are exchanged between two families as brides.
Badal enables both families to reduce the cost of marriage by avoiding paying a dowry.
After the other girl in the arrangement was killed by her own husband, Hameya’s husband began to torture her in revenge and eventually killed her, Shahabi said.
Hameya’s husband, whom officials said was aged between 20 and 30, already had at least one wife, according to Lailuma Noorzad, head of the provincial women’s affairs department.
Hameya had been married for six months, officials said.
The legal marriage age in Afghanistan is 16 for girls and 18 for boys, according to the United Nations.
But the traditional practice of marrying children still persists in the conservative and patriarchal country, largely due to poverty and insecurity.
At least one in three Afghan [Muslim] girls is married before they turn 18, the United Nations Children’s Fund said in a recent report.
Badal enables both families to reduce the cost of marriage by avoiding paying a dowry.

Suresh, this is astounding! This is Theresa May’s Britain and the BBC is not screaming out the news and exposing her for the utter piece of rubbish she is! When South Africa had apartheid I remember well all the talk in Canada – where I lived a few years and completed university studies – and from Britain, Australia and the U.S, there was a steady stream of vilification of South Africa because of it racists ‘apartheid’ policies and the ‘repressive government’. Well after university I returned to SA. In 1977 a black activist, Steve Biko died disgracefully in prison at the hands of the police. For the next ten years, through newspapers, I kept up a steady stream of criticism of the system and government policies. My phone line was bugged and mail opened, but barely a thing I wrote was not published by newspapers and police never broke into my home or threaten me – although I must consider myself lucky for not landing up ‘inside’. Compare my experience with Theresa May’s Britain as this disgusting woman sells out to Islam. In 1987 I returned to Canada, but that was by then a very different Canada. Its utterly gutless media wouldn’t publish my correcting comments in their lying columns about South Africa, and it won’t publish comments that are critical of Canada. Considers it disgraceful Human Rights Commission kangaroo courts that punish individuals – like Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant – for telling the truth about Islam and Canada’s and the general whitewashing of Islam and violent Muslim behaviour, and ask yourself where one had more freedom, South Africa under the National Party, or Britain and Canada. The West has lost its mind.

The mindset of most muslims is that girls are a burden and a continuing source of future shame… There is no love for their children in Islam. In fact Islam condones and commands parents to kill their rebellious offspring.. Even on the rumour that a child is being ‘naughty’ is enough for the parents or grandparents to kill them… For a girl child in Islamic society is livestock.. A future breeder of sons and nothing more.

In Tennessee with parental consent, a 14 year old can marry an adult. And the mountainous regions extend from northern Alabama, to West Virginia.. it is very tribal, families feud across the rivers into Alabama. Many marry within the same family, fetal alcohol syndrome is the result of pregnant women drinking illegal whiskey called ” white lightning”.
This combines with incest to produce a child like the banjo player in ” Deliverance”…
There’s similarities between the Appalachian tribes and the Afghanistan tribes in that the latter adopted “Khat” and Opium but banned alcohol.
