“They want to turn Israel into ‘Palestine,'” Netanyahu says after Muslim Israeli nation-state law protest

23

What are these Arab Israelis protesting? They are protesting the Nation State Law, which states the obvious: that Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people. So what? Most people know this to be true. Has this law changed the fact that all Israeli citizens (regardless of religion, gender, sexual preference, etc.) receive full human rights? Of course not. Israel is the only country in the Middle East that can make this claim truthfully. Muslim and Arab citizens of Israel are entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, engineers, professors, and work in many other fields. Muslims are working in Israel’s vaunted hi-tech sector in much greater numbers as well. Israel is also spending a significant amount of money on education and infrastructure to improve the lives of its Muslim citizens. The Muslims living in Israel also represent 15 percent of the Knesset and have representation on Israel’s High Court.

So what are these Arab-Israelis protesting? It’s not about any racism, as these protestors claim. Israel is one of the most democratic and non-racist countries in the world. These mostly Muslim protestors are condemning Israel’s right to exist in any boundaries. As Prime Minister Netanyahu has indicated, the conflict in Israel is not over whether there should be a “Palestinian” state. The conflict in Israel is over the fact that there exists a Jewish state. That is the essence of the conflict: the right of Israel to remain as a Jewish state. Prime Minister Netanyahu rightfully indicated that “There is no greater testimony ‎that the nation-state law was necessary” after watching the Arab Israeli protests, and seeing the “Palestinian” terror flag being waved in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv. Prime Minister Netanyahu (as usual) is 100 percent correct.

Sadly, much of the Jewish leadership in the U.S has condemned Israel for the implementation of this law. This most recent betrayal of Israel by U.S. Jews is not surprising. These betrayals happen too often to be surprising. However, it does once again show that the U.S. Jewish leadership continues to dismiss the fact that Israel lives in the most dangerous neighborhood on the planet. The vast majority of U.S. Jews seems to have no conception of what it’s like to live next to Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad. Furthermore, U.S. Jews have no understanding of Islam, or any knowledge of the savage hate speech against Jews that is taught in the many mosques and schools in “Palestinian” society. This is just another example as to why the left-leaning political beliefs of most U.S. Jews are simply not compatible with Israel maintaining the security of its country and protecting its people.

“‘They want to turn Israel into Palestine,’ PM says after Arab nation-state law protest,” Israel Hayom, August 12, 2018:

A week after the Druze community and supporters of the Druze gathered in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv to protest the nation-state law, the same plaza outside city hall turned red, green, black and white on Saturday night as thousands of Israeli Arabs turned out to demonstrate against the law, waving Palestinian flags and chanting, “In spirit and blood we will redeem Palestine.”

The title of Saturday night’s protest was “The nation-state law will be overturned – yes to equality.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted footage of the ‎protest and wrote: “There is no greater testimony ‎that the nation-state law was necessary. We will ‎continue to fly the Israeli flag proudly and sing ‎‎[the national anthem] ‘Hatikva’ with great pride.”

Speaking ahead of the weekly meeting of the ‎coalition faction heads Sunday, Netanyahu said, ‎‎”Last night we were given clear proof of the ‎defiance against the very existence of the State of ‎Israel, which is why the nation-state law is ‎necessary. ‎

‎”We’ve seen how the Palestinian flag was flying in ‎the heart of Tel Aviv. We heard the calls to “redeem ‎Palestine in spirit and blood. Many protesters want ‎to repeal the Law of Return, do away with our flag ‎and our anthem – they want to do away with Israel as ‎the nation-state of the Jewish people and turn it ‎onto an Israeli-Palestinian state.”‎

This, Netanyahu stressed, “is exactly why we enacted ‎the nation-state law. The individual rights of ‎Israeli citizens are well-anchored in other Basic ‎Law and regular laws. Now it is clearer than ever ‎that we needed the nation-state law to ensure ‎Israel’s future as the nation-state of the Jewish ‎people. We enacted this law and we will preserve ‎it,” he said.‎…

Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev said that former Prime Minister Yithak Rabin “is surely ‎turning in his grave over the fact that the Left supports Arabs who flew Palestinian flags in ‎Rabin Square. I find that outrageous. I plan on asking Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit [to ‎weigh in on the matter] because we cannot agree to Palestinian flags flying in central Tel Aviv.”‎

Science and Technology Minister Ofir Akunis said, “If anyone still had any doubt about why the nation-state law was necessary, the images from the protest are clear proof that Israel needs the law.

“In the fact of the subversives who question that Israel is the national state of the Jewish people, with a blue and white flag and ‘Hatikva’ [as the national anthem], Basic Law: Israel as the Nation-State of the Jewish People is one of the most important laws enacted in Israel in the past few years,” Akunis said.

Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, one of the authors of the law, echoed Akunis, saying, “As I said this week in the Knesset: When [MK] Ahmad Tibi and [MK] Hanin Zoabi oppose the nation-state law together with these protesters with their Palestinian flags and calls of ‘in spirit and in blood…,’ I understand why they’re doing it. They truly oppose Zionism and the fact that Israel is the state of the Jewish people and was established as such by the U.N. But [Yesh Atid leader] Yair Lapid and [Zionist Union MK] Tzipi Livni? Why do they oppose it?”

Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz added, “Ahmad Tibi and Ayman Odeh and their friends are protesting the Jewish nation and in favor of an Arab-Palestinian nation. It’s not the wording of the law that bothers them, it’s the existence of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.”

The Druze while moderately better than the other muslims (no reported suicide bombers, terrorists), are still not really loyal to Israel, they are loyal to whomever they think will be in power.

Agree. He should put it vote among all voters. once majority support it , then he can over ride all opposition to it.

Trump was conned by Abbas initially but when he found out the truth boy was he mad as hell at the jihadi http://bit.ly/2rOmfyJ

That’s when he decided enough is enough and that inspite of huge opposition led to shifting of Embassy to Jerusalem and No more funding to the jihadis.

I’m not sure if Druze count as real “Muslims” though, at least I doubt most Muslims would consider them as brethren.

Also, I do think that many Druze do serve quite loyally in the IDF, from some accounts.

Druze are only loyal to whomever is in power, they are fair-weathered when it comes to true loyalty, I do not remember calling them Muslims, though they do have some of their beliefs.

These traitors just proved why Israel must be a Jewish state only. Any Arabs expressing disloyalty to Israel should be expelled the same day. There is a freedom to disagree with your gov’t and then there’s being an enemy within, that’s what many of these Arabs are.

As the eminent historian Will Durant stated: “The Islamic conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precious good, whose delicate complex of order and freedom, culture and peace, can at any moment be overthrown by barbarians invading from without or multiplying within.”

Not with you on expelling citizens- would you apply the same standard to Jews to express disloyalty to the state? Personlly I think Israel is bigger than that, and strong enough to prevail against those who, within the parameters of the law, are disloyal to the state? BTW, that would place many of the haredi at risk of expulsion.

But loved your quote from Durant. Could you provide a reference? I would, however, call the Durants excellent popularizers of history, not eminent within the tribe of historians.

Disloyalty in words is one thing, disloyalty in actions is another thing. They have proven time and again they are willing to kill Israelis by all means necessary, and if their are Jews in Israel who wish to do the same, the penalty of being deported should be followed though.

Liatris—-note that I made a distinction between opposing your state/govt and being disloyal which I consider synonymous with treason. If you’re waving ‘Palestinian’ flags what does that mean? That you love Israel or that you’re an enemy infiltrator? That’s what the Durant post was about.

And actually Will Durant is a highly respected historian who has been called ’eminent’ by other intellectuals. Who are these “Durants” you’re talking about and what does that have to do with the quote? Nothing. If you want to know more about the quote, then Google it like I did.

Rick-

A somewhat snippy reply to a well-intentioned comment.

Will and his wife Ariel co-authored the massive “Story of Civilization”. She actually co-authored more of the volumes than she was credited for (not uncommon when Will started his career). I don’t know what you read of or about the Durants (clearly you are not a close follower), but among professional historians, you don’t get a lot of credit for writing for the general reader. You gain professional credibility for expertise and ground-breaking reseach in a small area, not writing an epic story of civilization. For example, tracing the history and the diffusion of the stirrup. I suspect an expert on any subject within the Durants’ “Story …” could pick it apart.

I might compare your “being disloyal” with people who want to secede from a particular country. As long as they do not resort to violent or fraudulent means, they should not be punished. So, if a suitable majority of the people of Wyoming want to leave the US of A, I’d say let ’em.

IDGAF about what you think you know about Will Durant, I posted his excellent quote because it was relevant to what is happening in Israel and western nations today because of Islam.

Then you reply with this irrelevant, wall of text that nobody cares about or asked for. And my response was as “snippy” as yours. You’re splitting hairs over the word ‘disloyalty’ with me but you knew what I meant since you stated something similar in your post.

I don’t have the patience for annoying, tedious morons like you so you’re blocked from now on.

‘They want to turn Israel into Palestine,’ PM says after Arab nation-state law protest

Well, duh!, Bibi.

Of course, Netanyahu is fully aware of this this, so it comes under the category of pointing out the obvious to useful, if well-intentioned, idiots.

Since a two-state solution has been all but ruled out, do you think a one-state solution would be possible some time in the future?

Only if the muslims return to Arabia.

I am suspicious of a one state solution. I fear it would spell the end of a Jewish state. On my bookshelf lies a book I plan to read,- but haven’t yet- Caroline Glick’s The Israeli Solution in which she makes the case that a one state solution is in the best interests of Arab and Jew. Well I’m from Missouri, but she knows a heck of a lot more than I do.

This author who uses the name “KFreedom” is a very prolific supporter of the nation of Israel, and I do commend him/her(?) for that. This article is on point, but it does not carry itself to the logical conclusion that no two state agreement will ever be reachable with the Arabs. What is said in the article is accurate, and the Nation State Law passed by Israel has no real affect on those who are not Jewish. The facts are clear that Israel is a democratically run state with almost the same rules of governing as we have here in the states, although they essentially elect people to their governing body who then choose the leader as Prime Minister, similar to Britain’s government. They have freedoms which are essentially a copy of our Constitution and particularly the Bill of Rights. Therefore, this “attack” on Israel for passing the Nation State Law is bogus. Today, the fact that the Arabs are using this law to petition the U.N. to remove Israel from the U.N. is continuing evidence that the Arab world can never be expected to be able to create a two state situation. The answer now is that those of the Arab world who cannot abide the continuing existence of Israel should be removed to other Arab nations after a determination is made to provide Israel with defensible borders, which should include Gaza and the West Bank (to the Jordan river). That is what I see as the most pragmatic approach to an unsolvable problem.

My concern is Israel’s fate in the post, Prime Minister Netanyahu. Bibi will continue the battle politically and otherwise to maintain Israel’s sovereignty and the security of its citizens. His one sole ally is President Trump; indeed there are Eastern European nations also on Israel’s list of allies. I am tired, as are numerous others, of Israel, continuously attacked for solidifying through legislation that it is a Jewish State. The Islamic States, on the other hand, are despotic and discriminatory of infidels; not so in Israel. Israel, nonetheless, is berated, criticized for its nationalist mandate by the obnoxious, antisemitic a-holes polluting the world via so-called Globalization.

Those protesters should have simply been rounded up by the military and driven across the border into Palestine territory.

There is no ‘palestinian territory’, because ‘palestine’ doesnt exist!
They are all illegal arab squatters on Israeli soil.
You are right about them being rounded up by the military, just send the b’stards back to arabia!

Will never happen on Bibi’s watch. Hopefully, someone such as Naftali Bennett will follow him, and I don’t see him handing our homeland over to a bunch of illegal arab squatters either.
