‘This is Huge’: U.S. Ambassador Grenell Quietly Blocks $400 Million Transfer From Germany to Iran

22

U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell quietly urged Germany to halt Iran from withdrawing $400 million in bank accounts in Berlin.

The move seems to support America’s just-imposed sanctions against the regime.

Richard Grenell is being praised for his quiet handling of Germany.

And that means Iran’s going to be in even greater financial trouble than expected. America’s sanctions are forcing European nations to choose between doing business with Iran — a tiny economy — or the United States.

And Germany, it seems, chooses the latter.

From Biz Pac Review:

A transfer of nearly $400 million in cash to Iran has been blocked by Germany’s central bank in what appears to be a response to efforts by the U.S. ambassador to Germany.

Last month, Ambassador Richard Grenell urged Berlin to prevent Iran’s withdrawal of large sums of cash from German bank accounts in an effort to offset U.S. sanctions that took effect following Washington’s withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

“We encourage the highest levels of the German government to intervene and stop the plan,” Grenell said, according to Reuters.

Deutsche Bundesbank, Germany’s powerful central bank, announced a new financial policy that would effectively bar the transfer of funds to Iran.

According to The Jerusalem Post:

The mass circulation daily BILD newspaper reported on Wednesday that the bank expanded its business conditions to include a section on “cash payment transfers” in order to reject financial transfers of partners of the Deutsche Bundesbank.

BILD reported in July that Iran’s regime seeks to use the European-Iranian trade bank in the northern German city of Hamburg – with the approval of the German government – to transfer the nearly $400 million in cash to circumvent pending US sanctions.

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government – widely considered one of the mos pro-Iran regime friendly European governments – has not commented on whether it will allow the roughly $400 million in cash to be sent to Iran to undercut the US sanctions campaign.

A member of the European System of Central Banks, Deutsche Bundesbank is a powerful influence within the European Union.

Grenell reportedly urged the German government to block the cash payment to Iran and it remains to be seen if the Merkel administration will undermine U.S. efforts and allow the $400 million in cash to be sent to Iran.

Keep up the pressure.

Dems were paid by Iranian lobbyists to support Nuke deal http://tinyurl.com/mcake4d

And their holdovers still support it.

You know what would work better? If Trump stuck to his promise to eliminate ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’ Well we know the Iranian regime are terrorists, like Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, etc…so why not eliminate them? The world would be much better off without these murderous lunatics.

Sanctions are a way of pretending to do something without achieving anything. Obama made the Mullahs very wealthy and they will easily survive a decline in their economy, only the ordinary Iranians will suffer. Trump has been good in some ways but weak in others, like this and his dealings with Turkey.

It’d be better to bomb the crap out of Iran and install a pro-West regime. If he was really keen he’d work on removing Islam from western nations entirely. All we do is keep kicking the can down the road while Muslims increase their numbers and rape/kill more innocent people every day.

Why would any dying atheist Western country be sending large amounts of cash to a totalitarian, theocratic, religious apartheid, terrorist supporting muslum state unless said corrupt governments are getting large kickbacks from such transfers?

Yep, kickbacks, graft, it makes the political world go round, and eventually explode. I ask myself the same question and arrive at the same answer, greed and treason.

It’s Iran’s own money, but the bank would be love seeing it stopped, they wouldn’t like seeing that much money withdrawn??

Huh, no surprise, the Germans have always been “fond” of the Iranians, and vice versa:

Iran has many very decent and intelligent people but are unfortunately ruled by a bunch of brutal fanatics and their Allah screaming cohorts.

It is reassuring hearing that someone within the inner-sanctum doesn’t talk the talk but walks the walk. Great job US Ambassador, Grenell. Now to take the traitors in the EU and others who are filtering millions into this bilious regime, Iran.

If not place sanctions upon the EU and others… make the worms squirm.

It would be interesting to know if the FBI have traced the money laundered through Pilatus Bank in Malta to Iran as the director is Iranian. There are various accounts in that bank that came to attention of the FBI but the EGRANT account came up tops with links to Malta Prime Minister’s wife.

That shifty bitch will make sure that those filthy mullahs will get the money through some back door deal. I just hope that Trumps response would be a total trade ban with Germany until that bitch and her present government has been removed.

Exactly, it is only a matter of time until German financial institutions are Muslim controlled.
