The car burst into flames as it when it ploughed into the town hall. the police recently received a threat that might be linked to the incident.
The driver clearly acted deliberately, as he drove through the lawn and around poles and benches to reach the town council building.

ONE man is dead after he ploughed a car filled with gas canisters into a Dutch town hall.

Police say the car burst into flames as it collided with Bemmel town hall, around 60 miles south of Amsterdam.
The driver has yet to be formally identified though officers are said to have “strong suspicions” as to who it was.
A spokesperson for the fire brigade told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad (AD) the police recently received a threat that might be linked to the incident

Town mayor Marianna Schuurmans said she was not aware such a threat had been received.
She told local media: “That news surprised me.
“I will have to wait for the police investigation. What I find awful is that someone was killed. My thoughts go out to the family.”
Authorities said they are investigating the cause of the incident.
