Obama’s Cybersecurity Coordinator Confirms Susan Rice Ordered Him to ‘Stand Down’ On Russian Meddling

17

Michael Daniel, who served as cybersecurity chief under Barack Obama’s administration, said that Susan Rice, then-national security director, specifically ordered him to “stand down” and back off any investigations into Russia meddling in the 2016 election.

Curious how the left always points fingers for doing what itself is guilty of doing, yes?

Daniel made the remarks during testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

And the Washington Examiner has more:

Michael Daniel confirmed Wednesday that former national security adviser Susan Rice ordered him and his staff to “stand down” in 2016 in regard to Russian attempts to meddle in the 2016 election.

Daniel, special assistant to former President Barack Obama and White House cybersecurity coordinator, told members of the Senate Intelligence Committee that quotes attributed to him in the book, Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, were an “accurate rendering of the conversation” he had with Rice and his staff.

Daniel’s staff reportedly responded to the order in “disbelief.”

Over the past year, the Obama administration has been criticized for allegedly being aware of Russian attempts to influence the election yet primarily remaining silent on the subject.

The Washington Post reported that Obama himself — along with three top aides — was given direct evidence from the CIA of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s cyber campaign to influence the election.

The Obama administration reportedly knew of Russia’s actions for months ahead of the 2016 election, but failed to take retaliatory action until December.

“It is the hardest thing about my entire time in government to defend,” a former senior Obama administration official involved in White House deliberations on Russia said of the administration’s inaction. “I feel like we sort of choked.”

I think Pamela presents a mis-leading picture here. Daniel indicated that they were told to back off certain, unspecified, cyber measures, but that the feds did assist states with their own efforts. Nor, in the snippet she posted, did Daniel mention Susan Rice by name. Unfortunately, the full story cannot be discussed in open session.

During a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, Sen. James Risch, R-Idaho, asked Daniel about a passage in the book Russian Roluette. The passage was about a staffer from Daniel’s team, Daniel Prieto, retelling the time that Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice told Daniel and his team to halt their efforts and to “stand down” in countering Russia’s cyberattacks.Of course Liatris ,an Obama lover misleads as all Obama lovers do.

No, I did not mislead.

Despite her sensational headline, the Geller Report staff presented no evidence in this article for Rice’s involvement. Nor did Daniel suggest the feds backed off entirely- quite the contrary, he indicated they did things that he could not discuss in open session.

She should do better and I for one expect better of her.

By the way, I am no admirer of Obama, you little moron. People like you and Achmed do not bestir themselves to think: you merely emote.

Agreed. I remember seeing that session on Fox News and it neutralized my blood pressure medication.

Yes, it does, so thank you for the reference.

I am confident that unlike the idiots who responded to me previously, you realize that I did not deny Rice gave the standown order (although it appears not to have been a comprehensive order that effecively ignored the Russians’ activities).

Rather, I questioned whether or not Pamela had made the case that her headline promised. I concluded she hadn’t- for which, in a total non-sequitor, some dolt accused me of being an “Obama lover”.

Wow, being an “obama lover” is the worst possible insult anyone could make.

Reason why he was told to stand down was there was no Russian meddling , they just wanted to use it against Trump , smear him to get votes for hildabeast !

And Trump uses that fake accusation to impose sanctions and deport diplomat to show he is not beholden to Russia !

As dumb as it gets.

Late Wednesday afternoon the House Intelligence and Oversight Committee voted articles of impeachment against acting AG Rod Rosenstein. As the old saying goes, “The plot thickens.”

Nothing will happen because they can’t get the votes from the corrupted congress. There is no longer “oversight” of our government officials. They are running wild.

Everything you need to know about the Obhammud administration and the counterfeit president at its helm can be explained by their denying their own long unbroken string of failures, while at the same time, trying to take credit for Trump’s successes such as the booming economy.
