U.S. Defense Secretary: ABC Report on Iran Is ‘Fiction’

12

U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis called out ABC for a story about America’s planned bombing of Iran as a piece of pure “fiction.”

Mattis was questioned by reporters about the notion, and in response, raised his eyebrows.

“I think it’s a complete — frankly, it’s — it’s fiction,” he said.

Once again, the media’s been caught in a lie.

More from News.com.au:

U.S. Defense Secretary General James Mattis has dismissed as “fiction” an Australian media report claiming American forces were prepared to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities as early as next month.

A bewildered Mattis was quizzed by US reporters in Washington DC on Friday about the ABC report.

The “exclusive” report quoted unnamed senior Australian government figures and claimed Australian defence facilities would likely play a role in identifying targets in Iran.

“I have no idea where the Australian news people got that information,” Mattis told reporters.

“I’m confident it is not something that’s being considered right now, and I think it’s a complete — frankly, it’s — it’s fiction.

“It’s the best I can give you.”

Mr Mattis’ Friday press conference opened with a question about the Australian news report.

“Can you assure the American people that the US is not preparing military strikes against Iran?” the reporter asked.

The report came after Mattis and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Australian Defence Minister Marise Payne and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop earlier in the week in California for annual AUSMIN talks.

It also followed heated words exchanged on Twitter and in Iranian news reports between US President Donald Trump and Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull also said he had “no reason” to believe the ABC report was true.

“I’m confident it is not something that’s being considered right now, and I think it’s a complete — frankly, it’s — it’s fiction.

Well it should not be.

It is my fervent hope that if Trump cannot negotiate Iran’s nuclear program into the dustbin of history, that he will bomb it into the dustbin of history. Few, if any, future presidents would have the cahones to do that.

In the fullness of time, I would like to see nukes eliminated from all arsenals. But allowing murderous dictatorships to have them is a recipe of destruction on a scale the world has not yet seen.

They want to emasculate Trump responses to Iran threats to us.
It’s not the “plan” to bomb Iran but if we HAVE to Trump will.

I think it is a good idea to have a plan in place to take action against Iran nuke sites.
But they have to be willing to put the plans in motion when needed.

From my perspective, I would hope that our government has plans to take out the nuclear facilitates in Iran and anywhere else. As to Iran, I would expect those plans would include the Israeli’s as well as Saudi Arabia. The Iranian leaders are clearly part of the axis of evil, and their terrorist conduct based on their belief system (Islam) has caused havoc within the Middle East. The maniacs that lead their country would have no reservation to use a nuclear bomb, as they are suicidal in their thinking that they are divinely inspired. Such rubbish. We can keep denying the existence of any plan for the world’s ears, but I hope that we have such a plan available for use at anytime.

To be honest, as much as I dislike Iran’s government, I am not sure if a full-scale war would be the right answer, or a very popular one…I mean, even many Republicans were against him attacking Syria.

Maybe the Iranian people will overthrow their government by themselves one day! It happened once before, it can happen again!

Of course the US isn’t considering attacking the Iranian Repugnant. After all, what would happen to all the sweet Iranian bribery income of traitors in the US federal, state and local governments if that were to happen?

Reverse psychology, by “spilling the beans” on a potential strike, they’re trying to stop it from happening in reality. They know it’d cause an uproar on the Left.

If they actually supported Trump (assuming a real strike was going to happen) they’d keep their mouths shut. Loose lips sink ships and that’s why these idiots keep blabbering away, to protect Iran’s ISIS terrorist regime.

The whole point about military secrets is so that the enemy never knows where/when you’ll strike. With friends like Lieberals, who needs enemies?

Why would the media ask SECDEF if the U.S. is planning to bomb Iran. Seriously. Even if the U.S. were in fact planning, why in the world ever admit it, let alone to stupid reporters beforehand. I don’t know what is more preposterous. The initial story about bombing, or the idea that the U.S. would be that forthcoming.
