The European Commission calls for European Investment Bank to defy US sanctions and fund Iran, and is supported in this by British Government

54

”It’s beyond comprehension that the European Union, including the British Government are prepared to open up lending again to Iran, especially as we know that their nuclear ambitions are far from over. The Trump Administration will take a very dim view of this.” Yes, that is true. But in Britain they’re too busy readying a snarling Trump blimp to fly over London while the President is visiting to think about trivial matters such as funding Iran’s nuclear program and violent repression of its own people. The European Commission and the Theresa May government in Britain deserve the condemnation of all free people for this, and if the Iranian mullahs succeed in firing off nuclear weapons, the blood will be on their hands.

“‘Beyond comprehension’ that European Commission wants EIB to lend money to US-sanctioned Iran – Nigel Farage,” UKIP Press release, July 4, 2018:

The European Commission has called for the European Investment Bank to fund US-sanctioned Iran and is supported in this by the British Government. Because all international loans are denominated in US dollars, it would mean the EIB could be shut out of the lending market and pushed into default.

Story continues below advertisement

The European Parliament today heavily rejected an UKIP objection to a delegated act from the European Commission allowing the EIB to lend money to Iran.

At an EP Budget Committee 28th May 2018, the EIB rep (quotes below) says raising funding on the international market was a life and death issue for the EIB. And if the EIB lent money as the European Commission wants, to Iran, the EIB would be shut out of the dollar market and effectively pushed into default.

The UK representation in Brussels has clarified that the British government has supported the European Commission in calling for the EIB to lend money to Iran.

UKIP MEP Nigel Farage said:

”It’s beyond comprehension that the European Union, including the British Government are prepared to open up lending again to Iran, especially as we know that their nuclear ambitions are far from over.

The Trump Administration will take a very dim view of this.“

Unless objected to by Council or European Parliament, the delegated act proposal will be adopted by Commission on 6th August 2018….

Any sovereign nation, that wants to do business, give aid and succor to Iran, should be free to do so. The United States of America should be free to NOT do ANY business with any nation that gives aid and succor to Iran. They do what they desire. We do what is necessary. The US should begin by closing a few embassies.

More significantly, the U.S. should stop providing free military defense and protection to these smug, pompous Europeans who don’t even appreciate or like Americans!!! Trillions of American dollars rebuilding Europe and protecting Europe to this very day, and for what??? Since the 1980’s, I’ve spent a lot of time working with Europeans, and TRUST ME, all they do is mock us, make fun of us and belittle us to no end! It infuriates me that after all we’ve done for them and continue to do for them, they are sooooooo ungrateful!

I was an expat for quite some time. I was forced to work with froggies and Botany Bay Rejects. I came to blows with two owssies … they tried a two to one on me. It did not fare well for them. The froggies knew better than to confront me. I thought that I’d seen my share of lazy incompetents … work with froggies or owssies and you’ll find out what lazy truly means … makes you appreciate an American bum.

I don’t understand why they still call it the GB government…..they need to just go ahead and call it the mudslime government as they seem to be appeasing the mudslimes, and have forgotten what a GB government used to be…..at least mostly fair….and open to

change….which is why it is a mudslime government now.

Russia may find that quite interesting with no US present. I can’t see the pussies in the Eu military having any will to stand up to the force of the Russian army. Putin would be very happy to roll right over these EU cowards

Such is the new normal. Europe is ready to throw the USA under the bus so long as Trump or someone of his thinking is leading it.

This anti-Americanism has been a European obsession long before Trump. In spite of all we’ve done and continue to do for Europe, they don’t appreciate it and constantly try to undermine the U.S. even though at the same time, they benefit greatly from America.

Define appreciation. Not supporting Trump is not a lack of appreciation, especially when he is trying to impose Israel’s will on them.

I said that this has been going on long before Trump; it is not anti-Trump, it is anti-America. And of course, your Israel obsession.

Re appreciation:
America has spent many trillions rebuilding Europe and protecting Europe. This American generosity is not appreciated and is something Europeans take for granted. Europe’s high standards of living and generous welfare programs and public works projects are funded largely by not having to spend money on defense since America (and the American tax payer) provides it for free. Had it not been for America, the Iron Curtain would have extended far beyond Eastern Europe and it would likely still exist today. Russia has made territorial claims that they have not been able to realize thanks to America.

I don’t have time to sit here and go into detail, but perhaps other commenters can help out, or you could just tell me how I’m wrong.

That’s not anti-American, especially when in certain countries, they’re barred from building up an armed force that is significant; this is especially the case in Germany. One would have to abrogate the treaties ending WW2 to permit a buildup on their own.

Germany is only one country. All of Europe benefits from America. European countries realize that they don’t need to spend much on military because America will rush to their defense if something happened, such as Russia grabbing all that North Sea oil. And, it has nothing to do with Israel.

Oh yes, Bibi, of course!!! And the Saudis and the other Sunni Gulf Arabs. I get it that you hate Israel, but Iran’s nuke ambitions represent a danger and destabilization factor that extends far beyond the M.E. Anyway, I clearly understand that you are guided by your hatred of Israel and that your worldview is shaped by your belief that everything is a Zionist conspiracy, so there’s really no point in having a discussion with you.

That you think I hate Israel is funny. There are enough signs to realize that Iran is really a Russian puppet state who is a threat to the Gulf, rather than to Israel. Explain Russia’s UN Security Council veto if not for that.

Trump and all western democracies have the right to defend any democratic country being attacked. What do you think WW11 was about. Interestingly, islam and Nazism are very similar, they both have a political ideology for world domination by force.

Your comments come right out of the playbook of the Israel haters. You state that Trump is trying to impose Israel’s will on Europe and then go on to claim that Trump is Bibi’s agent. More of the typical tropes claiming Jewish control of the world spewed by the Zionist conspiracy crowd. It may come as a surprise to you, but things can and do happen outside the realm of Israel. Iran’s hegemonic desires don’t only involve, nor are they targeted exclusively at Israel. Sadly, your myopic, Israel-obsessed worldview apparently limits the range of your thinking.

Europeans have always hated the Americans. They say/feel that we are too aggressive, to rich, think too highly of ourselves….in other words, too big for our britches. Since I was a young person, just able to vote, I’ve always maintained the U.S. should be an isolationist country. We have or could have everything we need to keep the population happy, fed and secure. All we need to do it keep a strong military and leave the ‘good works’ to someone else.

Sort of like we do in our own personal lives. We help/give to whom and what we can, it is NOT to be expected as it is in the world now. The whole world seems unable to provide for their own countries. We have enough here that need the help we give to foreign countries. You can’t buy friendship from other countries, any more than you can in real life. The more one gives, the more they want and expect.

I hope this is understood in America, but nobody gets to vote for the EU Commissioners, all are appointed, neither can the people dismiss them or hold them to account, it’s a bit like you being ruled by the UN despite what you think.

The regime of teaser May is a pro EU cabal, it’s acting against the wishes of the electorate over so many issues and ignorance of the issues is the key. Misinformed people don’t know what to think, so they stop thinking.

Europe cannot do business with Iran
– Trump made it impossible
– any company doing business with Iran
– cannot do business with the USA
– 50+ major companies have already left Iran
– none of the majors can afford to give up the US market
– Trump has also reminded countries that they are also affected
– a whole country can be denied access to the US market
– eg. S Korea is stopping Iran oil shipments
