Alan Dershowitz Has Become A Pariah Among His Former Martha’s Vineyard Friends For Defending President Trump

27

Alan Dershowitz, the outspoken Harvard Law professor and Fox News contributor, has become a pariah among longtime liberal friends on Martha’s Vineyard, where he spends his summers.

Dershowitz, a frequent guest on “The Sean Hannity Show,” explains the finer points of the law to us and has been a steady defender of Trump’s constitutional rights. To those on the left, who believe Trump has no constitutional rights, he is seen as a turncoat.

He has also been highly critical of the Mueller investigation, which has further alienated him from many former friends on the island. For example, as a guest on “Fox and Friends,” Dershowitz discussed the drop in the public approval rating of the investigation from 48% in March to 41% in June.

Story continues below advertisement

(following emphasis mine)

First, he pointed out that this poll was conducted even before the IG report was released, a point which didn’t exactly endear him to liberals. Then, he said that the appointment of a special counsel was completely unnecessary in this case. An IG or a Congressional investigation would have been preferable; there was “no need to use the criminal justice system as a weapon.” I’m sure his friends didn’t like that either.

Dershowitz then described how a typical special counsel would conduct an investigation. They would:

would go after the low hanging fruit first, then try to flip them, get them to cooperate, get them to sing, sometimes they not only sing, they compose. The first rule in America is if you’re going to commit a crime, do it with someone who’s more important than you are so you can turn them in and they can’t turn you in and that’s how a special counsel operates. You try to get to the very top through a domino theory…The appointment of a special counsel creates new crimes – obstruction of justice, tampering with witnesses…The FBI shouldn’t get involved with elections.

Although Dershowitz voted for Hillary Clinton and contributed “handsomely” to her campaign, he has been unafraid to call out the deceptive remarks of those on the left. He was recently interviewed on WABC Radio’s “Curtis and Cosby” show and said his “principled defense of civil liberties that could benefit Trump was too much to swallow for his social circle.” He added:

These are people who have asked me for help over the years, who have asked me for support when their kid gets busted on a marijuana charge, or on possession of alcohol, I’m the first one they call. But as soon as I defend the rights of Donald Trump or anybody else they disagree with, I’m a pariah.

The idea that some of these people aren’t talking to me is not a punishment, it’s a great reward. I am so pleased. It’s a red badge of courage for me that there are some people who prefer to shut down debate and not talk to me.

So they are shunning me and trying to ban me from their social life on Martha’s Vineyard.

I suppose shunning Dershowitz is better than harassing him. Nobody has listened to Maxine Waters and heckled him at a restaurant or a movie theater. I guess the folks who summer on Martha’s Vineyard are a little different than the millennial activists that inhabit Washington. Same sentiments, different tactics.

Dershowitz, a lifelong Democrat, discussed how far the party has come from “the days when it was a great centrist party, when it united people rather than divided people.”

He won’t let radicals like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders steal the spirit of the Democratic Party and doubled-down on his attack on fellow liberals who “shunned” him at Martha’s Vineyard.

“I won’t let the Democrats steal my party from me. I want to regain the center,”

He will remain a Democrat as “as long as there’s some chance the Democratic Party can return to normalcy.”

“I want to make sure that the radical left, the woman who got elected in the Bronx and Queens to Congress on the Democratic ticket, that they and Sanders and others don’t represent the Democratic Party.”

“Friends”, we use that descriptor far too loosely. When “friends” do this to you they are doing you a favor by being honest, probably for the first time. Now their title can be adjusted to fit reality…

Frenemies?

At some point Dershowitz has to get off the fence.

He can begin by abandoning the Martha’s Vineyard crowd and their political establishment. That would be a start.

When it comes to pariahs in this world, Dershowitz cannot compare with pariah treatment received by our Pamela Geller. When he publically speaks up in her favor, that will be a change.

Appearances on Fox are no real measure of change from where he is politically to where some say he is going, i.e., more to the right.

Well, they already believe the hijab is a symbol of “freedom”, so it is not shocking that they would be attracted to Islam’s other aspects as well.

He really isn’t defending Trump, but defending a principle, but they are too dumb to understand that.

But Mr. Deshowitz, unlike other liberals, WATCHES EUROPE!
he sees what open-borders has done to the local Jewish communities. and how the UK Democrats (Labor) have been taken over by anti-semites!

He also sees that London is now run by Louis Farrakhan’s lawyer – SADIQ “the SADIST” KHAN!

Funny since, here in the US, the Democrat Party is now co-runned by Keith Ellison – follower of Louis Farrakhan!

We have to get our votes in this year 2018!

In the last year of the Muslim Marxist Obama’s “rule”, Farrakhan came out publicly and ORDEREd his Muslim followers to go out in the streets and KILL EVERY WHITE PERSON THEY SAW.

Not one Dimm, not the Muslim Marxist Obama, and not one Republican came out and denounced what he said! Neither did anyone hear of the FBI, DOJ,CIA, Homeland Security, or any other law enforcement come out to investigate him! Not one.

But let any Freedom fighter stand up and say people should rise up and kill “invaders” in our country and they would never see the light of day outside of a prison the rest of his/her life.

I was going to say the same thing……the Left are so stupid and uneducated….Dershowitz IS NOT DEFENDING TRUMP….he is defending the CONSTITUTION!
This right here shows us just how uneducated and indoctrinated our country has become….
….in some ways you have to feel pity for these people….they are fostering ideals of those who want to take over America….and they are so comfortable in their “eliteness” that they think they would still be elite under a totalitarian rule in America…..history could show them that is a false idea…..but then they don’t read or study anymore….
Here is one of my favorite quotes from Voltaire: TO LEARN WHO RULES YOU, FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CRITICIZE.

I don’t know what it will take for him to LEAVE the DEMS.
Surely he should be able to see the DEMS are ANTI JEWISH? Where was he when P.M Netanyahu was so terribly mistreated by Obama? Did he miss that? Is Dershowitz a JINO, (Jewish in name only)? He is left leaning politically and often legally. I can’t imagine how SPYING on Trump, not a foreigner, and not telling him about a potential problem would be legally acceptable – but Dershowitz was somewhat persuaded it would be okay…like swamp critters, Ryan and Trey Gowdy.

Dershowitz Is ‘Halfway Persuaded’
the FBI Acted Properly With Trump Campaign Informant
http://insider.foxnews.com/2018/05/30/dershowitz-halfway-persuaded-fbi-acted-properly-trump-campaign-informant

Dershowitz vowed to leave the DEM party if Keith Ellison won being head of the DNC. Okay Perez got it but Ellison a Muslim hating Jew got the deputy position, 2nd in command of the DNC.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news for him but he will continue to be shunned by DEMS. Whether DEMS are in the open or not about it, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, IS the direction of the DEMS. DEMS want OPEN BORDERS, MASS IMMIGRATION, chain migration, NO merit based immigration, lawlessness, more Muslims, VISAS to replace the educated etc.. What more does it take for him to SEE what is going on?

Those in the media and politics who seek to subvert the constitutional liberties of freedom of expression of others need to be reminded that those are the very same constitutional liberties that allow a free media and uninhibited political discourse to even exist in the first place.

…good luck with that….the word “free” to a Dimm means free to vilify others….threaten others you don’t agree with…free to organize and back Antifa to come to your freedom rally and bust heads…..Freedom has different meanings to the enemies of America and her people….it’s called THEM using our own laws to beat US down with …..

You will never please the left unless you do something crooked and evil. They are the sons of SATAN – their father. They are demons and crap on you all the time.

I just call them Demoncraps, for short. Any resemblance to the party called Democrats is purely coincidental. 😉

Amen….I can put on a white coat, but that doesn’t make me a doctor…..The Democrat Party has been down through the years under many flags…..KKK, UNION ORGANIZERS, COMMUNISTS, FASCISTS, LIBERALS, AND NOW ANTIFA….

There is but one flag all of them have been under since America was established….the destruction and enslavement of America no matter how many times they change course…..ENEMIES of America and Her People…..Enemies of Freedom….Period.

“Principled defense of civil liberties” is what liberalism is ABOUT. I’ve been a Dershowitz fan since forever, and still am. That doesn’t mean I like Trump, but the people who want to railroad Trump without due process are NOT “liberals” — they are openly inspired by the same us-versus-them, identity-politics tribalism as the Trumpists are, just with a different “in” group. Genuine conservatives and genuine liberals used to share a belief in the foundational civil liberties of the US — and still do. They both want what’s best for America — we just have a different vision about how to get there.
