Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered some strong words of praise for President Donald Trump in a brief July 4 speech, saying this White House has it right on Iran and that Europe ought to follow in U.S. footsteps.

“We’re grateful for America’s alliance with Israel,” he said, at the newly opened American Embassy in Jerusalem.

Netanyahu then cheered America’s departure from the Iran deal, and said this act should serve as a model for the rest of the world.

From the Algemeiner:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid tribute to the historic alliance between Israel and the US at a July 4 reception at the newly-opened American Embassy in Jerusalem.

“We’re grateful for America’s independence,” Netanyahu declared. “We’re grateful for America’s strength. We’re grateful for America’s alliance with Israel.”

Netanyahu also singled out US President Donald Trump for special praise. “You remember that Iran nuclear deal? Remember that?” the Prime Minister asked. “President Trump decided to leave this bad deal and he did the greatest thing for the security of the world and for the security of Israel.”

Commenting on the arrest of an alleged Iranian terror network operating in France by French, Belgian and German authorities, Netanyahu remarked: “This Iranian terror plot was planned on the soil of Europe on the same week that the European leaders are supposed to meet the President of Iran about circumventing the sanctions on Iran.”

Netanyahu called on European nations to break relations with Iran.

“Here’s my message to the European leaders: Stop funding the very regime that is sponsoring terrorism against you and against so many others,” he said. “Stop appeasing Iran.”

Netanyahu reminded the audience at the reception hosted by US Ambassador David Friedman that he US and Israel shared “common values that are clear.”

“It’s freedom, liberty, democracy. These aren’t hollow slogans,” Netanyahu said. “They are the bedrock of Western civilization. They’re the secret of America’s success and of Israel’s success. They’re the secret of our ingenuity – Israel’s and America – the big leaders of technology in the world.”

Even those of us with considerable reservations about Trump as POTUS and as a man can appreciate his unravelling of the disastrous Middle East diplomatic legacy of Obama.

Unfortunately, the next Democrat president it likely to be worse than Obama. I cannot see a bright future for Western concepts of liberty, for whom so many in history, and even today, have made such enormous sacrifices.

I fear indeed for our civilization’s future…and I hope to God that we have not disappointed Him too much as it is.

G-d, being holy and just, could have judged the USA and all nations with His full fury, but it seems that, in His grace and mercy, He is giving us one more chance. It also seems that, because we have an American President who is blessing Israel, He will begin to bless America for an additional period.
