Islamic Apartheid: No Football for Christians in Egypt @WorldCup

33

They call it the “beautiful game”; it may not be our cup of tea, but Association Football has much of the world gripped at present, with the World Cup taking place in Russia.

Egypt has its national team competing, but it appears access to the game is not as open there as it should be.

Remember how South Africa used to be shunned at sports events because of Apartheid?

Why don’t other supremacist regimes meet with similar exclusions?

Oh, of course, everyone is expected to make the customary exceptions for Islam.

It’s not just Christians. The Jewish state is consistently kept out of World Cup, since neighboring Muslim countries refuse to play Israel in qualifying games.

World Cup fever grips Egypt but Christians BANNED from playing football by ‘extremists’

WORLD Cup fever has spread across the globe, and Egypt is no exception having qualified for the first time since 1990.

By Joey Millar, The Express, Jun 23, 2018:

With Liverpool FC’s star man Mo Salah helping to boost interest in the game and Egypt making the group stages, the beautiful game has the country gripped.

But while Egyptians have cheered on their team with gusto during the opening two fixtures, which they lost to Uruguay and hosts Russia, not everyone in the country can get behind ‘the Pharaohs’ in the same way.

Coptic Christians are all-but banned from taking part in organised sport in Egypt, anti-persecution charity Open Doors revealed this week, due to “extremist” coaches at every level – especially in football.

One Copt told Open Doors football coaches at clubs of all sizes were extremist and anti-Christian when it came to hiring players.

He said: “We face discrimination on all levels. Football is a popular game and it is widely believed that Copts should not get the fame and wealth that comes with being a successful player.

“We are always confronted with coaches who are extremists. This is not just limited to small clubs, big clubs do the same, too.”

Another said the only avenue free of discrimination was leagues organised by the Christian church in Egypt, which were not of a high enough profile to attract the attention of foreign, lucrative leagues.

He said: “I completely lost hope of playing in any of the mainstream sports clubs in Egypt. If I want to play, there is no option but the church’s sporting activities, which rarely attracts media attention.”

The situation in the country’s football system was particularly bad compared to other sports, with the Coptic Christian community only producing one famous footballer, who Open Doors claimed was “mentioned whenever there is a complaint of discrimination against Copts”.

The success of Hany Ramzy, who played 124 matches for Egypt, was an exception to the rampant anti-Christian discrimination in Egyptian sport rather than proof of inclusivity, they said.

Open Doors said: “In Egypt, discrimination against Christians extends even as far as sports, it seems.

Tell me why I should feel any more for this traitor and liar and ‘virtue signaler’ than I would for a WWII Nazi collaborator who gets killed by a Nazi.

All muslims are extremist since they follow the teachings of Moohamad. There is no such thing as a moderate muslim.

I’m of the opinion that difference between “moderate” muslums and “radical” scuzzlums is nothing more than tactics.

Absolute bollocks!
It’s a mans game and the best ever invented. That girls game of yours where they’re so scared of getting hurt they wear armour and crash helmets is boring. If you want a game where the ball is shaped like an egg but is played by real men with No crash helmets try watching Rugby.

Both of my daughters, when little girls, played soccer. Soccer is a wonderful sport for little girls. I’m not that much of a fan of US football, either. In the past, I had some friends that played Rugby. Now, that’s a sport for men.

Well said Michael.
And the World Cup means it’s a game played by countries taking part from throughout the world unlike the World Series Baseball which is played in one or maybe two countries.
It’s a crime that the Egyptians are discriminating against the Coptic Christians and should be taken up by the football governing body FIFA but they’re so corrupted by personal gain that they’ve sold the next World Cup to Qatar even though they have no football culture and it’s too hot to play.

FIFA historically will not interfere in member federations unless government is doing so. Now, interesting will be: if Israel somehow pulls an Iceland and qualifies (Israel has not qualified since 1970, it’s only appearance; Iceland had never qualified before for the World Cup prior to this year)…would Qatar let them in since Israel and Qatar have no bilateral relations?

Qatar would have to as they really do not need anymore bad press than they’ve already got.
It’s a crime that they are allowed to hold the finals and sends out the message that bribery and corruption pays.

Exactly David. Did you know that FIFA has more representative countries than the UN. 211 V 195. More nations prefer to join a body that is corrupt than one which is downright evil. I guess I’m operating on the maxim that once you get over a dozen members of anything, you are gonna get corruption.

Australia were in the running for the 2022 WC and would have put on a good show. I went to 15 Olympic events in Sydney 2000. That was easy as the main venue was 10 k’s down the road. We could have put on a very good World Cup.More Aussies play football each weekend that all other codes combined. including Rugby League, Australian Rules, Rugby Union and Netball.

Youth development is improving as is the coaching and our A League is flourishing.I love it.
Australia holds the World Record for most goals scored in a World Cup Qualifier. 31-0 against Tonga. I’d settle for 3-0 tonight over Peru. France to beat Denmark and we’re through. OIOIOI

Who cares about “communist football”? Let’s put on the pads and see what happens. Oh, wait, then they’ll start kneeling during the National Anthem of countries they hate, just like the NFL, a.k.a. “No Fans Left”.

Association Football was like most of the popular games of the world a British invention.
Sounds like a wild statement and
I’m curious to know why you think it’s communist. ?????

The Jewish state is consistently kept out of World Cup, since neighboring Muslim countries refuse to play Israel in qualifying games.

Since 1974, Israel has been in UEFA, and there are no countries in UEFA with whom Israel has no bilateral relations. So that’s a false claim. It’s merely a victim of being in a confederation with some of the strongest clubs. In 2018 qualifying, it ended up in the same draw (Group G) as Spain and Italy. (That Iceland qualified is a true miracle; it had never qualified for the World Cup before.)

Now, as for the base issue of this, that would be an issue on the club levels, but can government really intervene without facing sanctions there? FIFA rules discourage government intervention.

FIFA should be disbanded and a new governing body brought about.
They have a disgusting history of corruption that can never be lived down. The first Two subjects investigated should be Egypt’s treatment of Christian players and muslim nations refusal to play Israel which would surely be classed as racism. If it was the other way around………….
As it is FIFA haven’t got the heart or the integrity for such an investigation.

No jurisdiction since that treatment isn’t an official governmental decision.

muslim nations refusal to play Israel which would surely be classed as racism. If it was the other way around…

Does not apply since Israel isn’t in a confederation with countries with whom it has no bilateral relations. It actually left the AFC over that decades ago, too long ago to matter in 2018, and is now part of the UEFA confederation. So that’s out too!

Corruption is a separate issue from this.
