Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so

Refusing service because of political affiliation is no different than refusing service based on race, creed or color. The Democrats, the party of slavery and Jim Crow, never change. They just get better at exploiting their victims. And they applaud their bigotry, hate and oppression. They crow and strut with a godless self-righteousness, While Trump supporters, patriots and vocal Republicans risk their livelihoods, social standing and good name if they speak candidly.

Shortly after, hundreds of reviews started flooding into The Red Hen’s Yelp and Facebook pages from both Democrats and Republicans, ranging from one star to five stars. Most reviewers thanked the restaurant for taking a moral stand.
“Cant wait to visit this establishment when I pass thru in July. From what I hear they have great food standards morals and respect for human decency. This is my type of place,” Mashay Clart wrote, alongside a five-star review.
Michelle Miller commented: “Thank you for doing the right thing. This administration deserves to be shamed and shunned everywhere they go.”
“I cannot thank you enough for what you did. We have little power as consumers to send a political message. You took the opportunity to let Sarah Huckabee Sanders know that her lies and lack of moral courage will not be tolerated by ordinary people,” Annalise Rickman added. “Thank you again for taking a stand. I hope the blowback won’t be too bad for you.”
However, some reviewers criticized the establishment for mistreating Sanders and her family.
“I saw the owner refuse Sarah Huckabee Sanders service, because he is a Democrat and can’t be a decent human being. What an idiot,” Solomon Sanchez wrote, alongside a one-star review.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Saturday responded to being kicked out of a Virginia restaurant after a server’s post about the incident went viral.Sanders confirmed the incident in a tweet, and said that she always treats those she disagrees with “respectfully.”
“Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for [President Trump] and I politely left,” Sanders tweeted. “Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”
Jaike Foley-Schultz, a waiter at the restaurant, posted on Facebook that he served Sanders and her family “for a total of 2 minutes” before the owner asked the press secretary’s party to leave.

Trump critics and supporters alike took to the restaurant’s Facebook and Yelp pages to leave one- or five-star reviews responding to the incident.
“If you are a whining liberal feel free to eat here, if you are a TRUE AMERICAN stay away,” one Facebook user wrote.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, a five-star Yelp review read: “The best. I’ve heard that they serve crow to those deserving of it.”
Sanders is the third Trump administration official to be recently targeted at a restaurant, in addition to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and White House senior adviser Stephen Miller.

I really do think that avenue should be explored. To me , this is worse than asking a Christian baker to do something against his conscience and then being sued for standing his ground ( thankfully he won his case ). But if that was a discrimination based law suit, than why would not this be as well, only more so. I hope she doesn’t let it go because you are right, they will only feel even more emboldened to commit more of this, and that could lead to someone getting killed by one of these nut-jobs.

I don’t believe that political affiliation is listed as a protected class in the 1964 Civil Rights Act or its many subsequent additions. Sex, color, religion, age, etc are listed but if this is not listed then there may not be clear legal grounds upon which to base a suit.

I think there was more to think thru when I made my previous comment. I still believe that the Left is undisciplined and therefore dangerous, and that, like as a fire builds with the more fuel that is added, these incidents, if left inadequately challenged, are going to lead to mayhem and death. On the other hand, in a free market system, owners of any establishment should be able to exercise their conscience within the boundaries of the law. This facility has made a choice within a free America, they have rolled their own dice, and now it shall be seen if it was a wise business move or not. I’m not in a position geographically to eat there, but were I, I would choose not to, and that is what they have invited the American public to do. Were it not for the obvious escalation of Left hatred, this would be a wonderful story of the American enterprise system at work (except that I like Sarah and don’t think she in any way deserved this ).

You have raised some good points, but there would be a cowardly bent to the Hen’s motivation if these were the concerns. Management is responsible for its staff and the law is available to contain unhinged patrons – there is always a risk operating a public service. Please see my response to CreoleGumbo above.

Thanks for the post. The Associated press article continued the deception by claiming it was the Presidents policy – yeah Bill Clinton’s, and enforced by every President since, although the law does have merit to it as a way of addressing child trafficking. But why let the facts spoil a good story, even though they are likely going to be exposed as liars and fake news, again. They can just issue an apology on the back pages of a distant edition that nobody will see or bother to read. They know the first impression is what counts. You are right, this could well end up with someone being killed by some misled loon, or worse.

Agreed. Earlier this week, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh expressed a sentiment I have been feeling for quite some time and that is that the political climate has deteriorated to such a point that overt and intentional violence is a distinct possibility. If someone is subjected to physical assault, they have the right to defend themselves.
I pray every night I never have to use my concealed carry weapon but the tide is turning, all because the left was traumatized by Trump’s election to office.

I was going to ask: What if a conservative restaurant turned away, say, Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch during the Obama regime, both would accuse the restaurant of being “racist.” And if conservatives targeted the homes of key Obama flunkies and lackeys, those demonstrators would not only have been arrested for trespassing and such, you wouldn’t even hear from them again.

Biden was going to make a political visit, complete with photos. His team called in advance to ask permission. Hardly the same thing. If the owner had gone along with the official visit, he would have been agreeing with policy. Huckabee was simply going out to dinner with her family. No press, no fanfare.

STAY AWAY! I’m very afraid of eating at restaurants that employ gay people, as they can carry deadly diseases. Many have mental illness.
Not to pick on them as I wouldn’t eat at restaurants that is operated by prostitutes either.
One time I ordered at a fast food restaurant and notice a very effeminate man (think gay) making my sandmwich.
I got a little worried about eating it and didn’t feel comfortable. I never went back. The other time I ate a sandmwich from that SW restaurant given to me by my brother and got sores on my body.
I was really worried. It went away and I hope I didn’t catch anything.
BLESS YOU SARAH, because now that I found out it was FOOL of Trump haters and gay people they might have SPIT in your food or messed it up in some way. I mean you are talking about something you put in your body.

How is this different from a bakery refusing to bake a wedding cake for gays? How is it different from people refusing to serve Jews or refusing to patronise Jewish business? As in Nazi Germany and present day BDS?
The owner actually shot herself in the foot for her principles, a meal with drinks plus tips for eight in her ‘bijou’ restaurant would bring in over a $1000 at least, plus loss of business. I hope they soon go out of business and their excessively liberal staff lose their jobs. The job is to prepare and serve food not play politics.
The way that people are supporting them says a lot about US today

This is basically fake news. The reason for this fatuous incident was that virtually all the staff at this dump are gay and they objected to several of the party who apparently they considered to be anti-gays.
She was in charge as the booking was in Sarah’s name.

I sent off a blistering email to a very long-time friend – one of my best friends through the years – who, sadly, has long ago gone over to the dark side (libtard & regressive), expressing my anger about the Sarah Sanders incident. But because my friend is also very diplomatic and normally NOT petty, she agreed that customers should be allowed to dine in a restaurant no matter what their political leanings. I told her I appreciated her response – and then we returned to what we do best in our nearly daily email communications: Namely, we talk about everything EXCEPT politics! And it’s mostly worked out well, but underneath I have mixed feelings about all this: I’m furious with her foolish and hateful Marxism, but – so far, anyway – I have refrained from telling her to go to hell! So, we go back to talking about people we used to know and places we used to live, plus music, art and various species of birds that she follows – along with thousands of others around the world – on a stationary bird-cam!! Thank God for the Ospreys and the Eagles!! (I guess she’s into raptors!!)

A long time friend of mine went on an anti-Trump and anti-NRA tirade recently. I should have terminated the conversation but out of politeness I did not.
The hatred and animosity was incredible. I think back to that conversation in April and I am still troubled by it.
I decided never to speak to him again because I do not need that ugliness in my life. It seemed like the hatred lingered like a heavy fog.

At this stage in my life, I can’t let the bastards get me down. “Find a new friend” may be easy for you, but you may not have had the history that I’ve had with my very long-time friend. (E.g., we traveled “for adventure” more than once to the big, bad USSR – and it was a bonding for LIFE, let me tell you!!) I think it’s easier to have a divorce than cut off a friend just ’cause she’s lost! Actually, a person who I THOUGHT was “a friend” (but not a long-standing friend), kicked me out of HIS life because he was so pissed off at me for supporting Trump! And although we’ve always led our separate lives, he went through a very rough patch personally a few years ago, and I was happy to be his PLP (Public Listening Post). And even though we are on opposite sides of the fence politically, we still enjoyed a good laugh together from time to time. But his angry cut-off really surprised – and, I must confess, actually shocked! – me a great deal. I didn’t cry over his total childishness, and I don’t miss him at all. And, to be frank, if my long-time lib friend had done the same thing, I would have been VERY surprised – no, shocked! Because she has a far more even temper and better personal qualities that the libtoid who cut off our friendship!

This looks very intentional and pre-planned. The restaurant’s website says they require credit cards for parties of five or more, so they likely knew this was Sanders. (There’s photo of a whiteboard note saying “x86 Sarah Huckabee Sanders.) They seated the whole party and allowed them to order the entire meal, then asked them to leave two minutes after the appetizers were served. Hard to imagine a better way to hugely inconvenience a party of eight in prime time on a Friday night,

Sarah-and Kirsten for that matter-should have told the proprietor of these restaurants, to “get bent”. Politely of course.
Until and unless the WH employee stands up to these tyrants, this will continue. In fact Sanders and Nielsen are teaching these lowlives exactly HOW to treat them, and others.

I am NOT in favor of banning anybody from a public accommodation because of their political affiliation. But it should be noted that this is NOT ILLEGAL because “political affiliation” is not one of the listed “protected classifications” in federal, and most state and local, civil rights laws, which are the usual litany of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, alienage, sexual orientation, etc.
Maybe it should be. A good argument could be made to that effect. But glossing over the present state of the law by saying there’s “no difference” between that and, say, racial discrimination, is simply false.
