The “Lord” Mayor of Sheffield is chosen by Sheffield Council of 84 members and is NOT directly elected by the citizens of Sheffield (575,4000, 2016). The “Lord Mayor” of a city in the U.K. has a special recognition bestowed by the sovereign (Queen). He is therefore a hypocrite in accepting the office whilst holding such views of the monarchy.
