Canada’s Prime Minister Trudeau instructed the Canadian ambassador to Israel to boycott the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem

Under former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Israel would have called Canada a staunch ally. The mayor of Jerusalem referred to Harper as Israel’s “best friend.” Harper proudly addressed the Knesset in 2014. Like President Trump, Stephen Harper is revered in Israel. Stephen Harper’s support for Israel was particularly invaluable during the nightmarish Obama years. Under Harper, Canada blocked the Obama administration from attacking Israel through the G8. Prime Minister Harper also provided rock solid support for Israel during their military conflicts with Hezbollah in 2006, and later with Hamas in 2009, 2012, and 2014. Stephen Harper continues to be a huge advocate for Israel. Just last week Stephen Harper publicly supported President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Iran Nuclear Deal.

A mere three years later, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has turned Canada into a fake friend of Israel, so that he can appease his large Muslim voting base. Just a few weeks ago, Prime Minister Trudeau welcomed “Palestinian” Canadians to their Israel-hating event in Ottawa.  Justin Trudeau’s insane immigration policies from Muslim countries have contributed to skyrocketing incidents of anti-Semitism in Canada as well. Trudeau’s government is also working vigorously to normalize relations with the Israel-hating Islamic Republic of Iran. Not surprisingly, Justin Trudeau decided to boycott the ceremony that honoured the opening of the new U.S embassy in Jerusalem.

Canadians who love Israel can only hope that the Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer can pull off a win in 2019.

Thirty-three ambassadors and chargés d’affaires confirmed their participation in the Foreign Ministry’s event Sunday evening to celebrate the US embassy’s relocation from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The Foreign Ministry had invited 86 foreign envoys to the reception, which will be attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a delegation of top US officials.

Twelve envoys hail from African countries: Angola, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Zambia and Tanzania.

Seven ambassadors from Latin America RSVP’d: Paraguay, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Peru and Panama. (Guatemala and Paraguay have announced they will relocate their own embassies to Jerusalem later this month.)

A number of Central and Eastern European countries are expected to be represented as well: Albania, Georgia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and Serbia.

The Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania are members of the European Union, which adamantly rejects any change to the status quo regarding Jerusalem before an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal is reached. Serbia, Macedonia and Albania are EU candidate countries.

Austria is the only Western European nation slated to send its ambassador, Martin Weiss, to the event.

The remaining ambassadors hail from Asia: Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

The US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, will attend the event as well.

Notably absent from the list are some of Israel’s allies and staunchest friends, such as Canada, Australia and Germany. Other important countries with which Israel has good ties — such as China, Russia, Argentina and India — are also boycotting the event….
