A French manifesto calling for passages of the Koran to be deleted on the grounds of rising anti-Semitism has sparked outrage among Muslims amid claims their religion was being unfairly ‘put on trial’.
An open letter published in the French media blamed ‘Islamist radicalisation’ for a ‘quiet ethnic purging’ in the Paris region, with abuse forcing Jewish families to move out.
The manifesto, whose signatories included ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy and former PM Manuel Valls, called for verses of the Koran calling for the ‘murder and punishment of Jews, Christians and disbelievers’ to be removed on the grounds that they are ‘obsolete’.
But Muslim leaders say the nearly 300 signatories were blaming a whole religion for the actions of an extremist minority.

Days after the manifesto was released, 30 imams signed a counter-letter in French newspaper Le Monde while the Observatory for Islamophobia called its contents ‘hateful racism’.
After a series of high-profile attacks on Jews, Muslim leaders contacted by AFP acknowledged that anti-Semitism was a problem in France.
But Dalil Boubakeur, rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, said the manifesto ‘subjected French Muslims and French Islam to an unbelievable and unfair trial’.
‘It creates a clear risk of pitching religious communities against one another,’ he said in a statement.
Ahmet Ogras, head of the French Council of the Muslim Faith umbrella group, said: ‘The only thing we can agree on is that we must all unite against anti-Semitism.’

Tareq Oubrou, imam of the Grand Mosque of the southern city of the Bordeaux, pointed out that Islam was not the only religion whose ancient holy texts contain anachronistic passages.
‘Any number of holy texts are violent, even the Gospel,’ Oubrou said, adding that the signatories, who also included celebrities like actor Gerard Depardieu, had misinterpreted the Koran.
He called the characterisation of the Koran ‘nearly blasphemous’, according to The Atlantic.
The writer Pascal Bruckner, among those who signed the letter, told France Inter radio it had not been intended ‘to stigmatise but to spur on the goodwill of reformist Muslims’.
The letter, published in the Parisien newspaper on April 22, said that since 2006, ’11 Jews have been assassinated – and some tortured – by radical Islamists because they were Jewish’.
The latest attack rocked France in March when two perpetrators stabbed 85-year-old Jewish woman Mireille Knoll 11 times before setting her body on fire, in a crime treated as anti-Semitic.
Officially, the number of anti-Semitic crimes fell in France in 2017 for a third year running, according to the interior ministry, down seven percent.
But Jews are the target of about a third of France’s recorded hate crimes despite making up only about 0.7 per cent of the population.

“Islam” translates to “subjugation”….meaning to Mohammed and Allah….and if you don’t subjugate yourself to them….you are killed or used as slaves….I personally don’t really see any “peace” in that….

The opinion that islam is a religion of peace is a lie coming from islamists to
promote / forward their ¨religion¨ Everybody knows that islam
is one of the world systems to tyrannically suppress people. Remember
that you can´t trust any muslim, because of this ¨permission to
lie¨ written in their quran. No matter what they say, the will lie
for the propagation of islam. If there are any peace full muslims
that accept western way of living, the will turn to violence when
they come under pressure from their ¨fellow¨ islam followers with
less liberal views. This has been a fact throughout history,
remember, Germany under Nazi´s, Russia under Stalin, China under Mao
Zedong, Vietnam under Pholpot, South Africa under Botha, etcetera.
When did the peacefull majority of people in those countries at that
time matter? It did not! Do we think that it will be different for
devout muslim believers that say they are peace full? if you do, than
history will teach us a painful lesson again….

All of the hate passages from the qur’an should be removed. That would reduce it to a few pages. That would also eliminate islam from the planet as without hate and violence, there is no islam or muslims.

“Quran (8:55) – “Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve”
Quran (28:86) – “Never be a helper to the unbelievers.”
Quran (48:29) – Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves”.
Abu Dawud (41:4832) – The Messenger of Allah [said] “Do not keep company with anyone but a believer and do not let anyone eat your food but one who is pious.”
Ibn Kathir v.2 p.213 – No believer shall kill any believer for any non-believer. Nor shall he help any non-believer against a believer – People wonder why Muslims are not at the forefront of the fight against Islamic terror.
Those who are blessed by Allah insult Allah by giving away their “gifts” to those whom Allah has not favored:
Quran (16:71) – “Allah has bestowed His gifts of sustenance more freely on some of you than on others: those more favored are not going to throw back their gifts to those whom their right hands possess, so as to be equal in that respect. Will they then deny the favors of Allah”?

Trouble is, it’s not that simple. Removing the violent verses will mean muslims will go on a massive murderous rampage. The best thing to do is remove them from the West altogether no matter what it takes.
No, they abrogate the less violent verses. But removing them will not stop muslim aggression. Only total removal of all muslims from the West no matter what it takes, will end the violence. Remove all weapons from their countries too, and take out any nuclear sites.

Yes, interesting that nobody has yet provided a reason why these verses calling for murder of non-Muslims should remain in the Koran. They certainly serve no purpose for a peaceful religion, which Islam is still claiming to be, so who, other than the ‘few giving Islam a bad name’ would want them to remain?
I think they’ve just exposed how many ‘moderate’ Muslims there aren’t in France.
If that issue was in reverse….CAIR, SPLC, BLM, DOJ (under sissy Sessions or Obama) would have been all over that forcing Jews to take statements out of their religious materials….
