Trump administration insiders, lawmakers slam Kerry as tool of Iran

Efforts by former Secretary of State John Kerry to conduct shadow diplomacy with Iranian officials in a bid to save the landmark nuclear deal are being met with a cool reception by the Trump administration and allies on Capitol Hill, who told the Washington Free Beacon the former Obama administration official is solidifying his reputation as a tool of the Islamic Republic.
Story continues below advertisementReports emerged late Friday indicating Kerry has been holding secret talks with top Iranian officials and others in a last minute bid to preserve the Obama administration’s chief foreign policy legacy ahead of a May 12 deadline when President Donald Trump is expected to scrap the deal. Trump said on Monday afternoon that he would announce his decision on the deal on Tuesday.
While senior White House officials scramble to convince European allies to agree to a range of fixes regarding the deal, it has become increasingly clear to insiders that Trump is not seeking a compromise that many have described as superficial tweaks to the agreement.
Kerry’s rogue diplomatic efforts are being mocked in the West Wing and on Capitol Hill among administration allies who view the former secretary of state of becoming a shill for the Iranians, who are seeking to avoid new economic sanctions that would harm its multi-billion dollar investments with Europe.
“John Kerry’s freelance diplomacy trip is ill-advised but likely won’t amount to much as there doesn’t appear to be any more concessions for him to offer — he already gave away the store to Iran,” Rep. Ron DeSantis (R., Ill.), a leading opponent of the deal, told the Free Beacon.
The White House National Security Council and the State Department declined to comment on Kerry’s diplomatic efforts, telling the Free Beacon they will not comment on dealings by private individuals.
The State Department would not answer questions as to whether Kerry coordinated his diplomacy or has been in contact with any current administration officials.
However, Trump took to his personal Twitter account to blast Kerry, hinting that his efforts may violate U.S. laws.
“The United States does not need John Kerry’s possibly illegal Shadow Diplomacy on the very badly negotiated Iran Deal,” Trump tweeted. “He was the one that created this MESS in the first place!”
Administration insiders offered similar sentiments in conversations with the Free Beacon, maintaining that Kerry is engaged in a losing bid to interfere with Trump’s foreign policy priorities.
“Kerry is setting up a one-two punch to make Trump look weak,” said one source close to the White House who advised officials on Iran policy.
“First, he’s going to brag that he outmaneuvered Trump by working with the Europeans to save the deal,” the source said. “Second, he’s going to brag that the State Department and Defense Department are going to constrain Trump in the future too, and that Iran is now open for business. The whole thing is meant to humiliate Trump politically and promote Obama’s pro-Iran policies.”
Kerry’s rogue efforts have also caused uproar in the halls of Congress, where opponents of the deal view the former secretary of state’s actions as selling out America.
“It is ridiculous that the Left has been foaming at the mouth at the thought of the Trump transition team reaching out to make diplomatic contacts for the incoming administration, yet now they are silent when John Kerry blatantly sidesteps President Trump to protect his disastrous nuclear deal,” said one senior congressional aide who works on the Iran issue. “Kerry should be meeting with American officials to try to explain why it was a good idea for America to sugar-coat the Iran deal, give up all of our leverage against an adversarial regime, and make us less safe.”

It’s so frustrating. It’s like OBAMA is running the justice department. We have endless committees and investigations that go no where!
If Holder was in charge, he’d be all over this. If we don’t enforce the rule of law…we will continue to have chaos and make a double standard a precedent.
I always find it amusing how our representatives are holier than thou when they have a TAX PAYER funded sex slush fund to shut up women who were either raped or sexually harassed. Lowly me would LOVE to see NAMES, DATES, AMOUNTS and CIRCUMSTANCES of how out TAX DOLLARS were used for hush money. Whatever happened to that?

The West abandoned God years ago and embraced ” humanism “. I believe His cup of indignation is full and His hand has pulled back. What we are seeing in Europe and the UK is evidence of this, 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 explains a lot, but I believe a faithful remnant in America has/had his attention and that is why Trump got in. He has done things through Trump that He cold not have done with anyone else in power ( Jerusalem as capital, as an example ), and His Spirit is drawing the last of America’s people to Him through a short lived window that He has provided. I think it is very possible that His final judgement may have begun. There are things to watch for to confirm this, but if it so, you are right that some very tough days are ahead.
Be well brother and remember that Christ has overcome this world. I am beginning to think that witnessing to people may be the only worthwhile thing to do, or at least should be a very big part of our fight against what is happening, because if it has been ordained, there is nothing man’s hand can do to stop it. I tell people to read the New Testament and that the Book of John is the best guide to follow – there is no need to have anyone interpret it, and it will tell you what you need to do.

That is exactly what I’ve encouraged others to do for many years, especially since the miraculous hand of God granted our nation this very brief reprieve from final judgment with the election of President Trump.
That window, however, is closing fast and most don’t realize it. So they are not repenting. But some are and others will.

I guess along the way, over the decades, the faithful, after finally achieving a ” good ” life, felt a diminishing need for prayer and began laying their faith down not realising that through faithfulness, God honoured His love for us by holding back these forces of evil. Anyone looking overseas can see the expanding darkness and even the very real threat of it here.
The Michigan congressman, Patrick Colbeck, recently gave a speech highlighting the ” America vrs. Holyland ” investigation and trial in the early 2000’s. It involved the Muslem Brotherhood’s plans to feed on any rot within America and bring her down from within. In other words a declaration of war and subversion, something most of us at least suspected, yet in spite of convictions and heavy sentences, the gravity of all that was disregarded by our defenders, and apart from a small hiccup, these plans continued on and were even abetted by those same defenders. I have thought for a while that a response to the threat to the country was late in coming but the evidence of a deeply imbedded fifth column is undeniable and alarming. We are sadly even further down the rabbit hole then I previously thought.

Kerry as usual. He got away with it in 1970 by meeting with the North Vietnamese delegation during a time of sensitive peace talks. He should have been charged with treason then, especially since he was in the US Naval Reserve at the time. I served in the Navy for 24 years and if I had done 1% of what he did, I’d still be in Leavenworth….

“mocked”? Treason is a most serious capital offense. Kerry committed treason. The usual and appropriate punishment for treason is death, traditionally by hanging. Anything less and we should all be screaming so loudly that they could hear it in Moscow! And, after we’ve finished screaming, taking whatever action is necessary to see to it that justice is done. This whole nightmarish farce begs the question: how did such a traitorous moron as Kerry ever get to have a position in our government?
