ROSEANNE Barr’s sitcom Roseanne has been cancelled over the comedian’s racist tweets despite huge ratings for the reboot.
A statement by TV network ABC Entertainment slammed the comedian’s comments.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC president Channing Dungey said in a statement.
The axe fell on Roseanne despite the reboot of the sitcom being the highest rated show in the US this season. Re-runs of the original have also been axed.
Australian networks Channel Ten and ELEVEN have cut the show effective immediately, despite not all episodes of the revival having aired yet.
Media giant Viacom is also reportedly pulling original Roseanne reruns and will no longer air episodes of the show on its Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT channels, The Wrap reported. The change will take effect tomorrow.
The fallout started after the comedian went off on a bizarre Twitter rant attacking people including Barack Obama’s former senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, who is African-American.
She said the long-time, well respected political figure was what you would get if Islamist organisation Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes “had a baby.”
“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby = vj,” she wrote.
Barr’s tweet was in response to a news article about Jarrett’s alleged involvement in helping cover up CIA spying on the President of France.
Barr has since apologised for the offensive tweet and said she was leaving Twitter (as of this morning her account is still active). She also issued an apology “to Valerie Jarrett and all Americans” for her “bad joke”.
“I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me – my joke was in bad taste,” she tweeted.
Ms Jarrett has also addressed the scandal, saying it should be a “teaching moor brain too fast for fingerment about everyday racism in America.”
“I’m fine,” she said. “I’m worried about all the people out there who don’t have a circle of friends and followers who come right to their defense.”
Barr fired off even more offensive tweets, which included a false claim that former US president Bill Clinton’s daughter Chelsea is married to billionaire George Soros’ nephew.
She repeated a false rumour that the billionaire investor, who is Jewish and survived the holocaust, is a Nazi sympathiser and assisted the organisation during World War II despite the fact he was 13.
She said he was a “Nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth”.
In response to Clinton’s rebuttal, Barr tweeted, “CORRECTION: CHELSEA CLINTON IS NOT MARRIED TO A SOROS NEPHEW. HER HUSBAND IS THE SON OF A CORRUPT SENATOR, SO SORRY!”
A spokesman for Soros responded in a statement: “George Soros survived the Nazi occupation of Hungary as a 13 year old child by going into hiding and assuming a false identity with the help of his father, who managed to save his own family and help many other Jews survive Holocaust,” the statement read.
“He did not collaborate with the Nazis. He did not help round up people. He did not confiscate anybody’s property. Such false allegations are insulting to the victims of the Holocaust, to all Jewish people, and to anyone who honors the truth.
They are an affront to Mr. Soros and his family, who against the odds managed to survive one of the darkest moments in our history.”…

It isn’t simply the double standard with which Roseanne had been treated vs. Joy Behar of “The View” (who slurred Vice President Pence and practicing Christians) and Jimmy Kimmel (who has turned his entire show into a leftist political soapbox and gets away with it). This is the same network that, last year, cancelled the Tim Allen sitcom “Last Man Standing,” in spite of its high ratings, solely because it projected a conservative message. ABC is notorious today for its hatred and contempt towards middle America, the family, and all that is decent and righteous. They have long had a symbiotic relationship with the Obama cabal of which Valerie Jarrett remains very much a part, not to mention the Clinton crime family (think George Snuffleupagus as a reporter). And besides, who did ABC think they were getting – Mary Poppins?

Norman Lear was and still is a limousine leftist who created Archie Bunker as a stereotype of blue collar Americans whom he viewed (and still views) with utter contempt. He is one of the reasons (but far from the only one) why TV “entertainment” lurched so far to the left that they’re in danger of falling off the face of the earth.

The ONLY reason why Rosanne was singled out is because SHE IS JEWISH AND A SUPPORTER OF ISRAEL Valerie Jarrett does support the Muslim Brotherhood after all she helped gain power all across North Africa. the Planet of the Apes movie was about Apes Evolving into a violent tribal society with arbitrary blasphemy laws (sound familiar) after a nuclear war to being intelligent and humans (mostly white in the movie) devolving.

Roseanne just might have LEGAL RECOURSE.
Look at others that have done FAR WORSE and months later an apology is issued and their show was not terminated.
Barr is also claiming that Michele Obama helped with the cancellation of the show. We can’t have the OBAMA’S censoring us through their filthy communist friends. I guarantee you she was cancelled not because of what she said but because she supports Trump. From what I read, she has been tweeting about the hypocrisy of her cancellation in comparison to what others did and weren’t cancelled.

The fact is that just because someone calls it “racist” doesn’t make it so. Remember, the liberals yell “racist” at the drop of a hat, even if race has nothing whatsoever to do with what was said or done. Islam is NOT A RACE, and I personally think anyone who acts like an animal – that is, without human compassion – I will describe them as an animal.

I agree about the legal recourse. I am also trying to figure out why the assumption is being made that the reference to Planet of the Apes referred to VJ’s looks? Personally I am not sure what Roseanne meant by that but I would not necessarily have assumed that she was referring to the woman’s appearance.

ABC can use the contract Roseanne Barr signed against her. I’m pretty sure that ABC’s lawyers reviewed this before the decision was made, expecting a lawsuit.

No such clause exists with them. Additionally, Kimmel is broadcast in the “safe harbor” (2200 to 0600 hours) period with looser content regulation. For Behar, the show is rated TV-14 for a reason.

Valerie Jarrett, the Obama’s handler, is a well known Chicago slum lord who has bilked American taxpayers out of hundreds of millions of dollars. She received tons of money for her several thousand section 8 housing units, but did not bother to use that money to do repairs. Rats, leaks, and caving roofs for the poor, and usually minority residents were normal. Where did all that money go? That woman should have been in prison long ago. I don’t watch TV, but it appears that Roseanne may have gotten axed for exposing Jarrett as a disgusting monster.

What is ironic is Wanda Sykes co-produces Roseanne and yet she though it was funny when she called the President an orangutan, not once but twice and when she was booed for doing so, she resorted to insulting her audience using gutter language.
What Roseanne said was offensive, but the hypocrisy of the networks is just as offensive.

The first Roseanne episode was fantastic! The writers immediately began wrecking the show and that is why the viewership was falling. Roseanne’s tweet may have been in bad taste but ABC is incredibly hypocritical in allowing the most egregious things to be said about the President without complaint. The world can live without ABC’s hypocrisy and so can Roseanne. Americans are sick of the outrageous double standard displayed by the mainstream media.

That’s not why the show was canned. She had a clause in her contract, based on her being a loose cannon in the past, specifically concerning this very issue. (So did everyone else in the cast, but you can’t have Roseanne without Roseanne.)

Racism is defined as believing your race is superior to another. For Roseanne’s tweet to be racist, she would have to put into words her belief that her (Roseanne’s) race was superior to Valerie Jarrett’s race (African American). But Roseanne has said she didn’t know that Valerie was African American!
If Roseanne made the comment and didn’t know Valerie was African American, then it can’t be racist. There was no demonstration of one race being superior to another. It was an insult, but not based on race.
Roseanne shouldn’t have made the tweet, but it wasn’t racist. I wonder if even 50% of Americans knew Valerie Jarrett was African American.
