When I first heard the news that the US was conducting strikes in Syria, it made no sense to me. To what end? In my initial coverage I asked, what’s the objective? To engage Iran? It seems I may have been right.
Syria attack: ‘Huge blast’ at Iranian military base in Aleppo after ‘fighter jet attack’
A HUGE blast was heard near an Iranian military base in Syria this evening, amid unconfirmed reports it was attacked by unidentified aircraft.

The base was in the Jabal Azzan region south of Aleppo, a Syrian government-controlled rural region.
People claimed to have seen explosions at the site and there are unconfirmed reports of casualties.
Syrian media reported it was attacked by Israeli aircraft this evening.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, reported the blast but said the cause was unknown.
Media linked to Hezbollah later claimed there had been no airstrike, blaming explosives detonating in a warehouse.
Last week, Russia blamed Israel for an attack on a Syrian airbase that killed at least 12 people.
Moscow claimed morning that two Israeli fighter jets had launched the attack on the T4 base.
The Russian Defence Ministry said the F-15 planes had carried out the strikes from Lebanese air space.
And it claimed Syrian air defence systems had shot down five of eight missiles fired.
The Israeli military made no comment on the claims.
It comes after forces from the US, UK and France launched a series of strikes against alleged chemical weapons facilities in the country overnight.
The western powers said on Saturday their missile attacks struck at the heart of Syria’s chemical weapons programme.
The United States, France and Britain launched 105 missiles overnight in retaliation for a suspected poison gas attack in Syria a week ago, targeting what the Pentagon said were three chemical weapons facilities including a research and development in Damascus’ Barzeh district and two installations near Homs.
The bombing was the biggest intervention by Western countries against Assad and his superpower ally Russia, but the three countries said the strikes were limited to Syria’s chemical weapons capabilities and not aimed at toppling Assad or intervening in the civil war.

Israel admitted it struck an Iranian base in Syria in retaliation for Iran’s attack on Israel’s jet. The Iranians struck from inside Syria.

Did you notice that Russia did not shoot back at us? That’s because while you kept watching the right hand you couldn’t see what the left hand was doing. Pres.Trump coordinated with Russia and Syria. He told them days in advance of what he going to do. Meanwhile, Syrian and Russian were devastating ISIS, Iranian forces during all the flak. It was Isis that chemical bombed it’s own people, hoping to get the West to bomb Assad. President Trump bombed buildings that were vacated in advance to help Russia corral ISIS soldiers into one area and than kill them.

Any way to confirm this? If that were the case I would not be so irritated with President Trump bombing a sovereign nation — twice — that has not threatened us. I have been afraid that the Deep State got to him. You know, the “Gee, that’s a nice family you’ve got there. Be a shame if something happens to it.” sort of “persuasion” that the scumbag globalists will use against those who cannot otherwise be bought.

Agree. But syria is used as base by Iran so bombing the bases / arms factories is good thing before they become unmanageable, unstoppable.

In S. Vietnam, as in S. Korea, there were people willing to fight and die to oppose Communism (vast numbers of them had no choice but to leave S. Vietnam or they would’ve been killed by the Communist regime), in Afghanistain there were and are no muslums opposed to islum.

Good commentary. We refused to use all of the weaponry available to us when we fought the Vietnam war, and that conflict was lost. Losing the middle East to the Jihad i’s would likely be a disaster for our national security and for Israel and our allies there. Russia knows this, as does Iran. Israel cannot tolerate any Iran presence in Syria, a nation at its border. I hope that with our help we can push the Iranians out of Syria, remove Assad, and bring about a strong opposition within Syria to the Russian presence, destroy Hezbollah and take whatever steps are necessary to provide for our national security. I do not see as appropriate removing ourselves from this very significant region.

Losing the ME to jihadis means you have to build a bigger wall around them, problem is that they are already beyond the wall. The only way you are going to lose the ME to Jihadis is to keep supporting them with weapons and money. The US has no business bashing Basher, he’s bashing ISIS and AQ. Now he may not be a nice guy but sometimes it is better to sort one problem at a time and it is a whole lot easier to sort a state than a bunch of raghead nutjobs.
As soon as ISIS is sorted out Basher will start to want to unpick Iranian involvement in his country. The best thing that could happen is the yanks stop supporting the tame terrorists, let Assad steamroller them and then start with a new playbook.

Big difference in a “police action” and a “humanitarian attack”…..the people gassed by Assad were not holed up in an armed compound refusing to allow the children to be checked to see if there were abuses…… and, this is the first time Assad gassed his people…..though I did not approve of what the Clintons and Reno did at Waco……clearly excessive force for that situation….yet…you didn’t see the Left screaming to have a Special Counsel on the Clintons and Reno……

We will never know the truth of the matter because the situation is so ripe for propaganda. Israel does not shoot its mouth off in such situations and Iran and Syria would be too embarrassed to tell the truth were Israel actually to score a hit against them.
It is sort of like a rancid divorce. There is a “he said” and a “she said” and the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Just for the record that photo posted last week on the site showing an F-15 bombing Tehran was photo-shopped. however this raid in this piece did happen but did not make the pathetic, parochial, American news circuit.
The US, British and French raid on Syria has left Israel against Iran even more isolated.
