Counter-terrorism officers hit the streets of New York as the city ramps up security in the wake of the Syria strikes. The implied — well more than implied — understanding of this threat to the homeland threat is that Muslims will strike here in support of the jihadis abroad.

The New York Police Department is heightening security by sending out counterterrorism officers throughout the city.

However the city insists that there are no credible threats in the Big Apple.
Department spokesman Phillip Walzak announced that the counterterrorism officers have been deployed ‘out of an abundance of caution.’

The move was made ‘out of an abundance of caution’ as officials insist there is no credible threat in the city‘The NYPD is working with our intelligence bureau liaisons stationed abroad as well as our federal partners, and closely monitoring the U.S. military action in Syria,’ Walzak said in a statement.
The counterterrorism officers were announced just an hour after President Donald Trump announced the military strike in Syria on in response to a suspected chemical attack on Friday.
Trump hailed the military action in Syria as a ‘perfectly executed strike’.
‘Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!’ he wrote on Twitter.

Isn’t it lovely how every day life in the U.S. has changed due to MUSLIMS? Once upon a time, we had a common culture, love of country and we were united and cheered on our President when it came to making a statement and acting on it. We didn’t see military ready for war on the street like this. Instead it was the usual policemen in the usual uniform, with a gun and maybe a baton. The only time you’d see military garb was in a foreign country at war.
The real reason Trump went after Syria is to make a statement that our stance on an issue matters and we back it up. The message to them is don’t F with the U.S.. Yes, chemical weapons have been banned since WW1. That is respected international law till Obama came along. Obama appeasement really hurt our credibility and standing. Appeasement can not continue. When we make a statement, we must back it up or become like the joke Obama was.
I do understand the weariness of being involved in the middle east. I don’t think even a little jihadist is worth one drop of legal American blood and I want us OUT of Syria.I would guess DeBlazio orchestrated this for political theater. He despises Trump as any communist would. Russia will do nothing but get closer to Iran. Russia wants the middle east destabilized.

I sense the uneasiness and some disapproval of the Syrian strike. There is something else to consider. Below is an excerpt from an article written by Steve Hilton that sums up my view on this.
When President Obama appeased the Syrian government with his failure to back up his “red line” rhetoric in 2012 – a warning to Assad not to use chemical weapons – that didn’t just encourage Assad to use chemical weapons again.
President’s Obama’s empty threat gave the green light to Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine, knowing that the U.S. would never act. It emboldened North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to push harder for nuclear weapons and long-range missiles, believing America was weak.
And most significantly for the populist movement, President Obama’s failure to act against Syria strengthened the resolve of Chinese dictator Xi Jinping.
Xi saw that America would not confront a bully, so he stepped up his own bullying – seizing territory in the South China Sea, increasing oppression and Communist Party control at home, and developing his plans for military and economic world domination through his ‘One Belt One Road” and “Made in China 2025” programs.

Smoke rises over Damascus, Syria following US strike
If President Trump had failed to respond militarily to this latest Syrian chemical attack, dictators and bullies the world over would have gotten a simple message: do whatever you want, because America’s not going to stop you.
That wouldn’t just mean the likelihood of more chemical attacks, which could put Americans in danger around the world. It would mean that our hand would be weakened when confronting China over trade as well. A strong America is not only good for security, it’s good economics – good for American workers.
Furthermore, contrary to the nationalist and isolationist dogma, you can show strength and stand up to bullies without getting entangled in costly, lengthy and counterproductive invasions of other countries.
You can show strength like President Reagan did, with airstrikes on Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. You don’t need to follow the disastrous model of President George W. Bush that drew U.S. troops into Afghanistan and Iraq, where they remain today.
That kind of practical, balanced approach – show strength but don’t get bogged down overseas – seems to be exactly the strategy on display from President Trump and his team over Syria. Every positive populist should support it.

Trump has stabbed in the back those Christians and other minorities in Syria that had been protected from Jihadists by Assad. Trump has lost a large, significant amount of support from us, in his strongest base.

I’d say that if you don’t think he was right to show that we mean what we say instead of just saying things, then you didn’t vote for the correct person…..you should have voted for killery. Until Trump and 2 allies decided to do this, killery was all for starting another war, or didn’t you hear about that and there were a lot of others who were for it until TRUMP actually did it.

“Abundance of caution”? Hell, it should be as a matter of routine since ragheads do not need a reason to just “go off”. Their only justification is an impulse, like rental trucks to run down Innocents on a bike path or some such.
