“MOAB” is a military turn for “mother of all bombs,” or more specifically, Massive Ordnance Air Blast — touted as the most powerful non-nuclear weapon in the American arsenal.

“Ye Vs. The People” was premiered on Power 106 on April 27th, 2018. The single is a back and forth, a political debate, featuring T.I., who plays the role of “The People.”

Kanye West unveiled his new single “Ye Vs. The People,” a response to his controversial week on social media, on Los Angeles’ Power 106 Friday night.

The enigmatic rapper’s conflicting ideologies may ultimately lead his fans to a fork in the road

The track pits West versus the people, with T.I. serving as the voice of the millions who questioned West’s Trump-loving, #MAGA hat-wearing tweets of the past week. “I know Obama was heaven-sent / But ever since Trump won, it proved I could be president,” the rapper declares in his opening.

“I feel an obligation to show people new ideas / And if you wanna hear them, there go two right here,” West says on the Four Tops-sampling track. “Make America Great Again had a negative reception / I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction / Added empathy, care, love and affection / And y’all simply questioning my methods.”

T.I. fires back, “What you willing to lose for the point to be proved? This shit is stubborn, selfish, bullheaded, even for you / You wore a dusty ass hat to represent the same views as white supremacy / Man, we expect better from you.” T.I. later notes of West’s Twitter feed, “Starting to make it seem like Donnie cut you a check” and wonders whether West is in “the sunken place.”

West retorts, “Y’all be leading with hate, see I just approach it different / Like a gang truce / Like the first Blood to shake the Crip’s hand.”

Hear a radio rip of “Ye Vs. The People” below:

Lyrics:

[Verse: Kanye West & T.I.]
I know Obama was Heaven-sent
But ever since Trump won, it proved that I could be President
Yeah you can, at what cost though?
Don’t that go against the teachings that Ye taught for?

Yo, Tip, I hear your side and everybody talk, though
But ain’t goin’ against the grain everything I fought for?

Prolly so, Ye, but where you tryna go with this?
It’s some shit you just don’t align with and don’t go against

You just readin’ the headlines, you don’t see the fine print
You on some choosin’-side shit, I’m on some unified shit
It’s bigger than your selfish agenda
If your election ain’t gon’ stop police from murderin’ niggas, then shit…

Bruh, I never ever stopped fightin’ for the people
Actually wearin’ the hat’ll show people that we equal
You gotta see the vantage point of the people
What makes you feel equal makes them feel evil

See that’s the problem with this damn nation
All Blacks gotta be Democrats, man, we ain’t made it off the plantation
Fuck who you choose as your political party
You representin’ dudes just seem crude and cold-hearted

With blatant disregard for the people who put you in position
Don’t you feel an obligation to them?

I feel an obligation to show people new ideas
And if you wanna hear ’em, there go two right here
Make America Great Again had a negative reception
I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction
Added empathy, care and love and affection
And y’all simply questionin’ my methods

What you willin’ to lose for the point to be proved?
This shit is stubborn, selfish, bullheaded, even for you
You wore a dusty ass hat to represent the same views
As white supremacy, man, we expect better from you

All them times you sounded crazy, we defended you, homie
Not just to be let down when we depend on you, homie
That’s why it’s important to know what direction you’re goin’ now
‘Cause everything that you built can be destroyed and torn down

You think I ain’t concerned about how I affect the past?
I mean, that hat stayed in my closet like ’bout a year and a half
Then one day I was like, “Fuck it, I’ma do me”

I was in the sunken place and then I found the new me
Not worried about some image that I gotta keep up
Lot of people agree with me, but they too scared to speak up
The greater good of the people is first
Have you considered all the damage and the people you hurt?
You had a bad idea, and you’re makin’ it worse

This shit’s just as bad as Catholic preachers rapin’ in church
Y’all been leadin’ with hate, see I just approach it different
Like a gang truce, the first Blood to shake the Crip’s hand
I know everybody emotional
Is it better if I rap about crack? Huh? ‘Cause it’s cultural?
Or how about I’ma shoot you, or fuck your bitch?
Or how about all this Gucci, ’cause I’m fuckin’ rich

You’ll deal with God for the lack of respect
Startin’ to make it seem like Donnie cut you a check
Now you toyin’ with hot lava, better be careful with that
What’s it mean to gain the world if you ain’t standin’ for shit?
Okay I gotta say it, Ye, you sound high as a bitch
Yeah, genocide and slavery, we should just try and forget
And all that free thought shit, find a better defense

But if Ye just stuck in his way, he can leave it at that
Fuck it

Alright T.I.P., we could be rappin’ about this all day, man, why don’t we just cut the beat off and let the people talk?

“I know Obama was heaven-sent / But ever since Trump won, it proved I could be president,” the rapper declares in his opening.

Huh? Obama was sent from Satan. Is this all about Kanye running for President in 2024? OMG! What a nightmare that would be. LOOK at his language…. etc….

Sent from satan, indeed. Didn’t Kanye remove certain passages from the bible and insert his name where Jesus’ name was mentioned.

Interesting how, Mr. West popped out in a big way just a few days ago on supporting Trump, etc., all before……..his album release. Is that what this is all about? Is he serious with his message, or is he just out to capitalize on some new ‘reinvented’ Kanye West image. It kind of stinks.

Dang! Did he pull a Michael Jackson and get rid of his skin pigmentation? And the Democrats are so diverse that they do not recognize white as a color.

The outrage about K. West is the outrageous demand of the Democratic Party to tell yet another black man to get back in his place and stay there. The Dems have been telling blacks to stay in their place for centuries.

Can these people not speak without referring to “bitches” or using the f-word? Is that a defining character of this generation?

who gives a damn about dumb niggas talking some garbage ? I’m more concerned about Clinton mafia.

Clinton mafia still active after Trump takeover as they kill another witness to email investigation http://tinyurl.com/y8p9cv5l

They know their hold overs in FBI / DOJ /NSC will help them out !

Unless they are totally purged including Left/Liberal judges not involved in the cases
to keep out their bias …its uphill task to prosecute them.

so called “dalits” have all kinds of privileges that many even want to become “dalits” . LoL ! Try some other stuff.

If blacks want to leave the democrat plantation what’s your problem ?
The fact that they are arguing about in a convoluted manner makes them dumb.

Try to imagine how little I care, what he does, ‘raps’, or even whether he’s still breathing tomorrow. Tired of hearing about him, sick to death of him, his ‘culture’, or any thing related.

Yes, but when I attempted to read it as a poem then it was better. Still some disconnect but then it was my first time translating rap…Yiyoya below is correct. It is the disintegration of music. It’s disquieting noise.

I don’t listen to rap much at all but I’m over 50 and that music of his ain’t bad at all. Be happy and don’t damn him and his music. He could have announced him and his girl Kim have converted to Islam so just imagine the doom that would bring on our society. It is of great significance. Kanye has millions of followers out there who love him.

Yes! You seem to be the only one of the normally “right on” opinions I usually see here who have failed to see Kanya’s HIGHLY significant message to SO MANY of his followers who cannot see the truth of the Democratic Party’s racism since befor the Civil War, to date, & TOO many people’s failure to listen to his URGENT message delivered here in a format they pay alot of attention to. My wife, of Cape Verdian decent, agrees wholeheatedly, as do I (vy incidentally, White). THANKS for your standing up!!

Who said what he says holds any weight and is supposed to be gospel for anyone? He’s an angry rapper, like all the rest of them. Just because he makes a few well choreographed and timed appearances praising Trump, does not make him a Republican, nor a conservative, nor an expert on anything political.

your ignorance and snobbery is typical of someone who thinks they are some sort of high brow music connoisseur . there are only 2 types of music : good or bad . And it is always subjective . I have listened to soul music for 40 years and rap music for almost as long . But I also have extensive collections of classical , blues , jazz , reggae and progressive rock . the same criticisms of any type of music can be levelled at any other type of music . and you are the ignorant one if you dont understand rap , because you don’t understand the language of rap . every musical genre has its own set of ideas , quirks and quarks that people who love those genres look for and appreciate . A lot of classical music is beyond dreary , repetitive , unoriginal , commercial drivel , just as any other music . and there hasn’t been a whole lot of modern repertoire that has stuck to the wall . And a large part of the classical audience does not appreciate 20th century classical , dissonance , etc . bass culture is the music of this time period . your’e just too square and too much of a snob .

At the very least, fingernails on the chalkboard does not produce multitude of the F-words

Rap is just plain boring, so boring that they need to spice the thing up with F-this, F-that, F-the-F and MF whatever, as if they don’t do the F-thing they can’t make any point out of it

That attitude is similar to that of Islam

Islam has to have violence — cut off someone’s head, burn someone alive, honor killing, bloody massacres, and so on … has become the essence of Islam because without violence, Islam is nothing

Without killing the infidels Islam is just another boring cult

Without the constant threat of violent punishment to its own believers Islam would have been disbanded a long, long time ago

Rap and Islam are two examples of destructive side of human endeavors without the support of a set of positive core values

I couldn’t take the NOISE!! It was such a cacophony that I had to READ the boring lyrics to even begin to understand what he was saying (I know the gist of it, but I definitely needed translation from rap to normal English!!!!). And they call themselves “hip hop” ARTISTS?!?

West said he was thinking about running for president. Do you suppose he is trying to change his image to pull some republicans in to his corner before the next election? Don’t be fooled by him. Doubt he is sincere.

The problem with rap is that it is not music. Fast talking without inflection, mono tone and dull. I don’t care how you wrap it, I just don’t like rap.

And the discussion has now gone to the next level….(LAUGHS). People’s heads are really turning now. While this is more performance art from Kanye, this particular curated display is proving quite entertaining. The ruffled feathers are worth the show.
