Muslim serving 25 years for jihad terror plot tries to slit throat of prison warden

43

When a Muslim enters prison, what is done to turn him away from jihad? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. On the contrary, Muslims are given the opportunity to study the Quran and pray with other inmates. And so things like this are going to happen. There needs to be a thoroughgoing overhaul of how Islam is treated in our prison system. But that is not on the horizon.

“Man serving 25 years in terrorism case pleads guilty to attempted murder of Victorville prison warden,” by Brittny Mejia, Los Angeles Times, March 13, 2018 (thanks to RN):

The prisoner had been serving a 25-year sentence in a terrorism case when he tried to slit the warden’s throat.

Story continues below advertisement

In entering a guilty plea Tuesday, Fazliddin Kurbanov admitted using a prison-made knife to attack the warden at the Federal Correctional Institution at Victorville on May 31, 2016.

At the time of the attack, the then-warden — identified only as C.J. — was standing in the dining facility near the serving line. Kurbanov, armed with an approximately 4-inch homemade shank, approached C.J. from behind, wrapped one arm around his neck and tried to slit the warden’s throat, according to a plea agreement.

When the warden raised his hand to protect his throat, Kurbanov slashed the left side of his body from armpit to hip bone. C.J. needed about 80 staples to close the wound, “resulting in a permanent disfiguring scar and sharp pains most likely caused by nerve damage.”

In a subsequent interview, in which the prisoner had been read his rights, Kurbanov admitted that he made the shank a week earlier and that he had tried to cut the main artery in C.J.’s neck.

The warden, who is now working at another facility operated by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, was seriously injured but has since recovered.

The investigation into the attack was conducted by the FBI and the case is being prosecuted by the National Security Division of the U.S. attorney’s office.

Kurbanov is scheduled for sentencing June 4. As a result of his pleading guilty to one count of attempted murder of a federal officer, Kurbanov faces a sentence of at least 15 years in federal prison to be served consecutively with the 25-year sentence imposed in 2016 by a federal judge in Idaho.

Kurbanov was sentenced in that case for conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and for procuring bomb-making materials to execute a terrorist attack on American soil, according to then Assistant Atty. Gen. for National Security John P. Carlin.

Between the summer of 2012 and Kurbanov’s arrest in May 2013, he was living in Boise, Idaho, and communicating by email and Skype with a person or persons operating a website for the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, officials said.

Kurbanov talked about his animosity toward Americans, particularly the military; his desire to build a bomb; possible targets in the U.S.; and his need for instruction on how to construct and remotely detonate a bomb.

Between at least Nov. 15, 2012, and May 16, 2013, Kurbanov possessed bomb-making components at his Boise apartment, including a hollow hand grenade, a hobby fuse, ammunition containing smokeless powder, tannerite, aluminum powder, potassium nitrate, charcoal, yellow sulfur powder and fertilizer….

In addition to more jail time, a regular flogging, no islamic paraphernalia or diet, jail is not supposed to be fun.

Too fast. Immersion in a large vat of sulfuric acid would be more appropriate; and perhaps serve as a ‘deterrent’ in the future to other mudslimes. Or, at the very least, he should be covered in gasoline and burned to death like the poor Jordianian pilot executed on camera not long ago.

I am likely in error, but I am persuaded this type of incident would never have occurred in the fifties or the decades before.

Agreed. These Muzrats who are conducting a war against the ‘unbelievers’ should be tried by a military tribunal and face execution if convicted.

What can one say, what can one think? One is left shaking one’s head in dismay and confusion. It’s just that I feel something like this would not have happened in Turkey, in Erdogan’s Turkey, you know, if the situation was reversed.
The west is soft, our laws are lax, our mindset is that of culpability pressed upon us by, well, we all know, by whom.
Disappointments day after day, everywhere one turns.
Pray the lemmings will wake up.
But who knows, perhaps this is the way it must go.
The Old Man in the cave, we should have let it be, without Him we’re not in a good place.

Unfortunately we have drifted away from God as a nation. We have more empathy for evil than good. In fact we reject good people and righteous people. Evil people get away with more. This is a timeless problem when people drift away from God.

Habakkuk.1:4

[4] Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.

Excellent, that Biblical phrase is so apropos. I shall look it up, and write it down.
I know this. That, had we not turned away from our religion, we would not have had any of this, the school shootings, the terrorist attacks, the daily over the top craziness, the open borders, the lawlessness.
Whether we believed or not, or whether our beliefs were tepid, we should have held on to them, for the sake of our children, and the sake of our country.
The divisions in all aspects of life that we now face on a daily basis, we had never confronted them previously.
Had we been of single mind, of similar purpose, had we not listened to the liberals over the decades, then we would have been closer, peaceful, bonded, happy, simple, and so forth.

The courtesies we extend to others are not extended to us in other countries. When Iran sequestered our naval vessel they forced the women officers to place coverings on their head, fully well knowing that the Americans were of different faith.
Do you see how we are disrespected, but yet we are chastised and criticized for any perceived disrespect to others.
We give, we always give, no one gives to us, and everyone else takes from us. We are considered fools, and our deference for others is seen as weakness. It is exactly like that, and everyone knows that is the truth of the matter.

In the TX prison where I worked, this guy would have been in administrative segregation, or ad seg, spending 23 hours per day in is cell and fed through the food tray slot on his cell door. Why he was in the general population, or GP, is a mystery and a security flaw.

Bring back the death penalty it makes sense saves money and more lives. I heard of a prisoner, a vicious murderer in fact who had been on death row for thirty years, kept by namby pamby judges not doubt, so also one appeal only then the needle.
When it is obvious they are guilty why keep them alive at great expense, A waste of space.

“….. Kurbanov faces a sentence of at least 15 years in federal prison to be
served consecutively with the 25-year sentence imposed in 2016 by a
federal judge in Idaho”. What the hell good is this. After this incident the 15 years should be added to the 25. Just very stupid!
