As you can see from this picture of the mosque, there is nothing remotely Jewish about it — unless, that is, you’re a Jew-hater, and immediately label as “Jewish” anything you don’t like. That is not unexpected coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The mullahs regularly repeat their hatred of the Jewish state and determination to destroy it. So it is not surprising that Iran’s media would call an unpopular mosque design “Jewish.” And it’s also not surprising that AP would completely ignore that aspect of the story.

This Iranian mosque design is angering hardliners for being ‘too Jewish’
A new “controversial” minimalist mosque, which departs from traditional early Islamic architecture is being condemned for ignoring tradition and subtly pushing ‘secular and Jewish influence’ into the country….
The new Mosque has angered hard-liners, who see it as part of a creeping secular onslaught on the Islamic republic. An editorial posted on the Mashregh news website compared the curvature to that of a Jewish yarmulke, accusing authorities of “treason” for approving it. The “completely neutral” design betrays an “atheistic approach,” it said.
Interestingly (or perhaps predictably), AP’s headline for this story sanitizes the controversy, leaving out the whole pesky antisemitism thing.

Well we finally have original islamic architecture as all previous claims to that title (including the Taj Mahal) are profoundly Byzantine. I guess the designer saw a flattened beehive and it inspired him. I miss the Jewish connection though. Is that because it looks like a nuclear blast shelter?

The architect’s firm is called “Fluid Motion” so you are right about that reference to water, the ocean, etc. I think what is important here is that the architect got approval from the neighborhood where this mosque was built, and that the Iranian people are looking to the future. They don’t want the traditional Islam of the mullahs.

It can and is neither.
I would call the style amateurish.
But we can’t blame the architects.
They have never had any time to practice in the past.
It is far superior to those thousand year old style constructions surrounded with monstrous penises.
Perhaps it was designed for the annoying sound of the Mullah to reverberate inside and not escape annoyingly outside to agonize the neighbours. That would, indeed, be progress.
Look up the art of KIRIGAMI for a perfect fit.

If the Imam could arrange to have a snow machine installed he could convert that uhh thing into a ski and toboggan hill.
That would be a real COOL and profitable mosque.
They wouldn’t even need those phallic symbols, that attract men to the old style mosques, to draw a crowd.

In my town the town leaders want to build the library in a parking structure instead of renovating the existing building. Mixed use benefits: if they added a movie screen they could make money as a drive in. Add a concession stand with delivery to you car even better. LOL.

Nice touch with the Park Your Goat area though. I Think the row of goat holder cement block bondage parking should perhaps be a tad more private also and not so crowded together and even include a manger for fresh grass for the lovers to chew during sex.
It also needs signage designating exactly where the a pig race track is and pointing out the pedo cult’s day care approved play area for goats and 6 year old future brides/rape victims.
