Judicial Watch Sues For FBI Docs on Comey Book Deal, Coordination on Comey Testimony before Senate Intelligence Committee

JudicialWatch, February 11, 2018:

(Washington, DC) — Judicial Watch announced today it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Justice Department for FBI records about former Director James Comey’s book, which he signed to write in August 2017 and is set for publication in April 2018 (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice, (No. 1:18-cv-00220)).  The suit also seeks records of communications between Comey and the FBI prior to and regarding Comey’s controversial June 2017 testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Judicial Watch filed suit on January 31 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the Justice Department failed to respond to an August 14, 2017 FOIA request for:

  • All records of communications between the FBI and Comey prior to and regarding Comey’s testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on June 8, 2017.
  • All records of communications between the FBI and Comey relating to an upcoming book to be authored by Comey and published.
  • All records, including but not limited to forms completed by Comey, relating to the requirement for prepublication review by the FBI of any book to be authored by Comey with the intent to be published or otherwise publicly available.

Comey reportedly received an advance in excess of $2 million for his book, Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership, reportedly set for publication on April 17th. Former FBI agents and officials intending to write books concerning their tenure are customarily required to submit the entire transcript for pre-publication review.

A month after President Trump fired Comey on May 9, 2017, the former FBI director provided highly controversial testimony before the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about the circumstances that led to his dismissal, the ongoing investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and his handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s illicit email server.  During that testimony, Comey admitted he leaked information about his conversations with President Donald Trump in order to get a special prosecutor appointed.  In November, Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit against the Justice Department for its records about Comey’s testimony (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:17-cv-02316)).

“Mr. Comey seems to have protected status for any misconduct and we want to know if he had a special deal for his book from his friends in the FBI,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “The Deep State is in cover-up mode. The FBI, DOJ, and the Special Counsel are stonewalling our requests for Comey documents.”

Judicial Watch has several other lawsuits pending for Comey-related records:

On January 11, U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg ordered the FBI to turn over the “Comey memos” for in camera review by the court.  In doing so, the court rejected arguments by the Sessions Justice Department to dismiss the lawsuits seeking the Comey information.

On February 2, Boasberg ruled that the “Comey memos” would not be made public.  Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation are appealing the ruling.

Huge benefits too
– if we make sure this never happens again
– Patriot Act and other laws must be changed
– step 1: Make sure that all presidential candidates
– actually have a valid birth certificate
– so that Presidents are loyal to the USA
– Obama wasn’t

Quit it man. I am trying to keep myself from imagining that this end is possible, until it clearly becomes possible and tangible. This makes me visualize the JUST end of this whole sordid affair, and it seduces me to let go of my self control.

Plus, I like to visualize a hanging instead of a prison sentence….the remainder of his life behind bars with frequent sex just doesn’t seem like enough. But, I already have a harmonica chosen to send him as a welcome to your forever home present, just in case.

I agree. Empty threats and saber rattling isn’t causing any of the criminals to shake in their boots. The problem as I see it at least, is two fold. First, the Deep State is so entrenched, any attempt to prosecute will never go anywhere, and two, the Republicans are supposed to be the opposition, but are in fact, cowards of the highest order. RINO’s are as much the enemy as the Democrats are.

Congress can already do some things now
– for example, Comey initiated surveillance against Trump
– without telling the Congress
– that ‘s illegal
– and it is contempt of Congress
– by unlawfully concealing FBI surveillance activities

Give it all to a citizen’s grand jury and let the indictments come. It’s our government and we should be sitting on grand juries issuing indictments instead of a political class controlled special counsel deciding who can be prosecuted and who will be protected.

Simple answer:
– he does not want to appear partisan
– and when he drops the hammer
– he needs to have all the evidence in hand
– but it seems to me that Steele is a slam-dunk
– and he could be indicted now

But after Obama and all the crap pulled with this last election, I will NEVER vote for another Dem. Oh,,,and BTW…when I lived in NY, I did vote for Hillary for Senator. (Believe it or not, she was the lesser of two evils….) Didn’t vote for her for President, however and feel that she now needs to go away.

How many pieces of evidence is needed before the charges are actually FILED? The facts that are available seem to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that certain DNC personnel need to be in jail, along with some people in the FBI, DOJ and State Department.

You ought to know the Negro is FOOL of lies. You tell one lie (and he has told many) and you cannot trust a guy EVER again.

You elected an unstable Negro. He was a racist, a sodomite, a liar, a communist and Moslem who married a transgender.

But somehow the left managed to dupe you, innocently enough, by calling the Negro just a “community organizer”. Oh, just a harmless Negro.

Comey is such a stupid F-.

I think Sessions needs the Mueller witch hunt to further implode in order to really step in and take action. If Sessions acts too quickly, the DemoRats, and MSM are going to lead a tidal wave of all kinds of BS starting with obstruction of justice. After what, 1.5 years since “Trump, Russian collusion”, not a single individual has stepped up with any supporting evidence. We know how everyone is out to remove Trump from office, sending Mueller home right now still, UNFORTUNATELY, looks like it would be too soon. If I have to wait even longer before we are able to send a lot of DemoRats and conspiring S-heads to prison, I’ll wait. Believe me, I’d love to see HRC and BHO sent to Gitmo.

Special counsels NYAAH!! Grand juries — YES. Stop the lawyers from controlling investigations. They can’t be trusted. In times gone by citizen grand juries indicted politicians all of the time. It ‘s time for the people to take over and begin issuing indictments. If instead of Ken Starr a citizens grand jury had investigated Clinton he would have been indicted.

Special counsels are politically motivated and highly subject to political class intervention. Grand juries with outside the beltway prosecutors brought in could clean up the mess quickly and that’s what the political class controlling D.C. is scared to death of.

We need a constitutional Sheriff (look it up) to head up this investigation and prosecution of High Crimes and Misdemeanors. I am not sure who to have protect them, as the current crop of criminals and treasonists have shown themselves willing to kill any who get close enough to the truth to own it. I do not remember a time in our history as a sovereign country, when the inmates have been allowed such latitude in running the asylum.

Much as I hate to say it, Sessions might’ve done the right thing in recusing himself, so that others like Rod Rosenstein, and Robert Mueller, could dig their own graves, the further this investigation goes on.

It’s just that the wheels of justice are turning incredibly slow, so slow that if the Democrats happen to regain the Senate this year, Trump will never get to the bottom of just how corrupt DC is.

Even Watergate took 2 years to transpire before Nixon resigned, and that was child’s play compared to the tangled web of deception the Democrats have woven.

I don’t think it’ll be long before a 2nd prosecutor is appointed to investigate the above-mentioned names, among others.
