We are constantly admonished that Indonesia is an example of how a Muslim country can be modern, moderate, pluralistic, tolerant, and democratic. But the Indonesian government has implemented sharia in an entire province, Aceh, and it is just as brutal, draconian, and inhumane there as it has been everywhere else it has been implemented. The non-Muslims are violently oppressed and made to conform to sharia norms, as we see here with Jono Simbolon. He is not a Muslim, so why is he bound to obey Islam’s rules regarding alcohol? Because Islamic law claims authority over non-Muslims.

A MAN was flogged in a brutal public punishment for selling alchohol [sic] in violation of Sharia law in Indonesia as he was whipped 36 times.
Story continues below advertisementJono Simbolon, an Indonesian Christian was sentenced to 36 lashes with a rattan stick.
The punishment was so brutal that a doctor checked his health after 10 stokes, before allowing the flogging to continue.
Simbolon was arrested in October, in the northern Indonesian province of Aceh, for selling alcohol, in violation of Islamic law. He is only the third non-Muslim to suffer a public whipping.
Despite being a part of the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country, Aceh is Indonesia’s only province that implements Islamic law.
Simbolon was one of 10 people, including eight men and two women, convicted after Friday prayers.
He was sentenced alongside people accused of crimes that included pimping, prostitution and gambling.
Chief prosecutor Erwin Desman said Simbolon may have chosen caning in order to avoid lengthy criminal prosecution.
Aceh, located on Sumatra island, is 98 percent Muslim and enforces Islamic law known locally as Qanun….

I do not care for this pope. He involves himself too much in political matters and his ideology does not seem balanced or just to me.
MSM will never cover stories such as these. They only cover “mass crowds” of women and others, protesting their plight in N. America, and complaining about the President. Some seem to have lost the sense they were born with.

I am so sad for these people in that country. They are adults and this IS the 21st century. Savagery, barbarism and the world looks the other way. At least one can get some truth on this site. How demeaning, how demoralizing it is to be publically whipped, not to mention the severe health implications. This culture, it is evident there is no freedom, and they treat adults like mindless creatures.

Every time there is a public presentation of what islam is all about, many more people realize that it is at best, inhuman, to be avoided. That is what is happening. What is needed is more sharia in western countries to inoculate them against what islam is all about, violence, repression and death.

I don’t know about that. Spoke with my wife, just this morning .. tomorrow she and some of her sisters are off for a holiday, in Vietnam … I asked her if she had seen any moslems, while in Japan … She told me, “Thank G-d. No, I haven’t” So, the poison hasn’t reached quite that far east, as of yet.

Pisslamic law known as “Qanun”? Yet another version of pisslam? How us this a religion, this is twisted to conform to the liking of anyone with the desire to do as they please. How many forms of Christianity are there, how many are there that allow for punishment like this? Can anyone say that some day these qaNUTS won’t eventually fight against the sunnis, or their enemies, the shiTs? Pisslam eventually brings nothing but war, death and destruction.
