Supreme Court allows FULL TRAVEL BAN

And the news just gets better and better.

Supreme Court allows full enforcement of Trump travel ban

AP, December 4, 2017:

Story continues below advertisement

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to fully enforce a ban on travel to the United States by residents of six mostly Muslim countries.

This is not a final ruling on the travel ban: Challenges to the policy are winding through the federal courts, and the justices themselves ultimately are expected to rule on its legality.

But the action indicates that the high court might eventually approve the latest version of the ban, announced by President Donald Trump in September. Lower courts have continued to find problems with the policy.

Opponents of this and previous versions of the ban say they show a bias against Muslims. They say that was reinforced most recently by Trump’s retweets of anti-Muslim videos.

“President Trump’s anti-Muslim prejudice is no secret. He has repeatedly confirmed it, including just last week on Twitter. It’s unfortunate that the full ban can move forward for now, but this order does not address the merits of our claims,” said Omar Jadwat, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants’ Rights Project. The ACLU is representing some opponents of the ban.

Just two justices, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, noted their disagreement with court orders allowing the latest policy to take full effect.

The new policy is not expected to cause the chaos that ensued at airports when Trump rolled out his first ban without warning in January.

The ban applies to travelers from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. Lower courts had said people from those nations with a claim of a “bona fide” relationship with someone in the United States could not be kept out of the country. Grandparents, cousins and other relatives were among those courts said could not be excluded.

The courts were borrowing language the Supreme Court itself came up with last summer to allow partial enforcement of an earlier version of the ban.

Now, those relationships will no longer provide a blanket exemption from the ban, although visa officials can make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

The justices offered no explanation for their order, but the administration had said that blocking the full ban was causing “irreparable harm” because the policy is based on legitimate national security and foreign policy concerns.

In lawsuits filed in Hawaii and Maryland, federal courts said the updated travel ban violated federal immigration law. The travel policy also applies to travelers from North Korea and to some Venezuelan government officials and their families, but the lawsuits did not challenge those restrictions. Also unaffected are refugees. A temporary ban on refugees expired in October.

All the rulings so far have been on a preliminary basis. The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, will be holding arguments on the legality of the ban this week.

Both courts are dealing with the issue on an accelerated basis, and the Supreme Court noted it expects those courts to reach decisions “with appropriate dispatch.”

Quick resolution by appellate courts would allow the Supreme Court to hear and decide the issue this term, by the end of June.

Has it ever occurred to the clouded minds of the supreme court that muslims have a bias that is actually murderous hatred against Americans? Ir is that too complicated a concept for these debatably senile old people?

Their majority are in their late 80’s- the beginning and the advanced dementia. I’m sure we need some law, which is politically corrected enough to send them home for the well deserved retirement. Ruth Shmayer Ginsburg mostly sleeping on the Court sessions. But awaken enough to make the disgusting and ridiculous statements against the Conservatives

It’s good that the court approved the ban. Now Trump needs to write an EO for a real ban. Then, he needs to write another one deporting all non-citizens currently in the USA, except for a very few who are making exceptional contributions to our country that no citizen can provide. All can be done with the power he legally has; he can cite national security as the reason and utilize the military to carry it out, ignoring every protest, lawsuit and whine from the leftist traitors. No, Muztard is not a religion – it’s a totalitarian ideology intent on world domination.

And me thinking it was just senility/illness. She was drunk! What a disgusting disrespectful display which should be reason enough for her to be removed from the bench forever. Someone should have shouted, “Wake the cow up, please!”

SUPREME COURT does NOT need to hear the stupid challenges from the liberal lower courts.

When the President issues a new travel ban, all the SC has to do is issue
their own order upholding the ban IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE the lower court
judges can issue their orders blocking the ban.

(This will beat the lower courts to the punch and put them in their place. And the SC does not have to set any precedent law on travel bans. it would be a win win
for the president and SC).

But I wonder if the SC has the imagination to do that?

The scotus does not have to do anything about a lawful presidential order, they really do not have the authority under the constitution or US law. jeez people need to learn more about how things are supposed to work not how they think they should work. all of the bans should have been ignored by the president and enforced by all law enforcement agencies and all bureaucracies. the law is very, very clear.

Yes … but law enforcement has to wait and see what the Left will do.

The right never goes back and destroys anyone for ‘following orders’ – but the Left will destroy a cop for doing his job.

Although, to be honest, a terrorist could probably come from any of the Muslim countries, not just the six or seven banned.

yes, this is true, other muslim countries are not included in the ban and, much worse, many are already inside the US and Canada and have US / Canadian citizenship. Let’s hope forf the best…

The lefties can sue their heads off and it will not matter one whit. As with the same provisions contained in 8 US Code Section 1182 entitled “Inadmissible Aliens”, the Constitution gives the President sole discretionary power to decide who comes and who not in order to protect the citizenry.

Two important things to remember:
1. People in foreign lands do NOT have a constitutional right to come here.
2. Those calling it a “muslime ban” conveniently overlook the fact that the countries involved are failed states.

If president Trump’s travel ban for certain muslim countries prevents only the death of one person killed in a terror attack, then it was worthwhile and the right thing to do. No matter what the left thinks of it!

The supreme court doesn’t have the power to ‘allow’ a law. It’s only power is to determine if a law is constitutional. And it doesn’t have the last word! Legislators can disagree and essentially ignore the court when it is wrong. The other two branches can also petition to have judges impeached or removed, as can the people. The three branches were created so none would hold more power than the other two, with the supreme court holding the least power, as it poses the most threat to our republic if it goes rogue. We must force our government to stop ignoring the constitution, or use our constitutional powers to dismantle and replace it.

Too bad it is only 6 moslem countries. The ban should be for all moslem countries.

Good news … but …

Why are we celebrating that 7 black robed ‘gods’ decided the President can do what every other president could have done …

This decision was simple, obvious, and consistent with what every other president has done over the years –

Only a Leftist -terrified that we will not have enough racist bigots dedicated to an ideology of hate and supremacism to diversify us – would object to measures to stop Islamists from entering the country.

Good news as far as it goes, but too few countries and even if that was corrected a ban while stopping those coming in does nothing to take on the left wing students, ANTIFA, the Universities, Press and the muzz already in place knawing away at everything you believe and value.

The internal struggle is going to be MUCH longer and harder to win. Plan accordingly.
