Abbas asks world leaders to prevent Trump’s plan

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas contacted the Pope and a series of other world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, in order to request that they intervene and prevent the US from transferring its embassy to Jerusalem. Meanwhile, the King of Morocco sent a letter to Trump signed by 57 Arab and Muslim countries warning of the move’s consequences.

Statements by the King of Jordan, the Palestinian leadership, and Arab leaders that recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital or locating the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem will endanger the peace process and bring a wave of violence, are nothing but empty threats and unfortunate attempts to threaten a sovereign government and incite. Surrendering to such threats of violence and terrorism would be a dangerous precedent and a sign of weakness. MOVE THE EMBASSY NOW!!

I believe that we all are forgetting the obvious faults in the Arab viewpoint about the issue of Jerusalem and Israel. The Arab world, especially the Palestinians and their Hamas brothers, have steadfastly claimed “death to the Jews (Israeli’s) and that Israel is an “occupier” of falsely claimed Palestinian land. As long as they continue with that refrain and incorporate those intentions into their charters, there can be no chance for peace between these peoples. The Arab’s were given the chance from Israel’s inception to live peaceably within the then borders of Israel. They said no, and they went to war and lost. That was followed by terror and again wars that they lost. Yet, the Arab’s continued their refrain of “death” and “occupiers” to date. Knowing all this, our present administration recognizes that the Arabs need to accept what is, and that is that Israel is a sovereign state, with its own government and a capitol city. By simply recognizing that city as the capitol our President is sending a very direct statement to the Arab world, and that is the nonsense of death to the Jews and claims of occupiers are ludicrous and false and we will no longer countenance those unreasonable positions, so the Arab world needs to accept Israel, guarantee borders that Israel can defend, and stop all the kill the Jews rhetoric. That is how I see this announcement by our President. Hopefully, the Arab world will also come to that conclusion and start real progressive negotiations that will help all of the middle east escape from its quagmire.

Excellent note, Dennis. I think it will reveal the entire Muslim world’s absolute hatred for Israel. They will never negotiate with Israel. They cannot. Now the sides will be much more clearly drawn. None of it bodes well for peace. But then the Muslims are at war with all the rest of the world, as they have been since their inception.

You’d have thought that, after getting their arses handed to them on more than one occasion, and by a notoriously outnumbered military, that any Muslim with half of a brain cell would get it: Allah was NOT bestowing his blessings on them.
If on anyone, it would have been the Jews.

I remember the scene but there was no ketchup bottle involved. Angela had put her diltzy husband, played by James Gregory, up to disrupting a Senate hearing by lying about the number of Communists in the State Department. Kurds always lived in the area you call Kurdistan. Palestinians never lived in a land called Palestine. The so-called “palestinians” were the outcasts of the neighboring Arab countries which were all actually be’douin. Meaning, they were nomads and were constantly traveling throughout the entire Middle East with their herds. They had no “settled” areas of note. Which is why you cannot find ANY historic archaeology or artifacts to support their contentions.
Maybe they’ll find some fossilized camel or goat poop their ancestors left behind, but it’ll never be centralized in an area.
Incidentally, the earliest known mention of anything remotely resembling “palestine” was from 5th century BC Ancient Greece, when Herodotus wrote of a “district of Syria, called Palaistinê” in The Histories. You will note it was nothing more than a “district” or part of something known and recognizable. The Syrians, notably, were very much in that “arab” mode as well.

I think anything that is, or can be construed as being, pro-Israel, is absolute anathema to the Muslims. Anything pro-anything or pro-anybody who is not Muslim, is anathema to Muslims. That we exist is anathema to Muslims!!!

May 14, 1948, almost seventy years ago, was the rebirth of Israel. The conditions surrounding Israel’s re-birth was anything but simple. In fact, it was hard. Israel’s journey from her early beginnings to the present has been fraught with great suffering. It is a tribute to the indomitable will and spirit of the Jewish people that they persisted in their valiant struggle to re-gather again in the land of their birth.
In ancient days, a noble and just Persian king, Cyrus the Great, rescued tens of thousands of Jewish people from captivity in a foreign land and empowered them to return home and rebuild their sacred temple. By his action of freeing an entire people from captivity and restoring their rightful dignity and place in history, Cyrus the Great, the author of the first code of Human Rights, cemented a bond of friendship between the Jews and the Persians.
Next year in Jerusalem was the wish of diaspora Jews, dispersed from their homeland yet acknowledging their spiritual and historical home to Israel, specifically, Jerusalem. Psalm 137 referred to as the well-known lament of the Babylonian Jews who wept ‘by the rivers of Babylon’ and declared, ‘If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither.” The perennial prayer, “Next Year in Jerusalem” has finally been answered.
We, the spiritual children of Cyrus the Great commend President Trump’s foresight and courage to declare that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s eternal capital. And, we pray that Israel succeeds in taking the steps necessary for making the New Jerusalem a place of hope and lasting safety for the Jewish people as well as people of all religions and for those with no religion at all.
Israel is a sovereign state but hardly safe. She is surrounded by nations and peoples who are bent on her destruction. It is tragic that her neighbors and she have not been able to find an equitable way of living side-by-side with mutual respect and in peace. I earnestly hope that ways can be found for a peaceful resolution to this destructive impasse.
Today, Israel has reunited Jerusalem and provided unrestricted freedom of religion. Access of all faiths to the Holy places in the unified city of peace is assured. The story of the rebirth of Israel is truly a miracle, yet challenges have remained, challenges that threaten the existence of this ancient country filled with so rich a culture.
As we watch, we pray for Israel and the Jewish people, for an everlasting peace and prosperity.

Erdogan best tiptoe lightly. If he brings violence into the Jerusalem equation it might well spread to Mecca, Medina, and also the places in Istanbul and Ankara with their holies.
Cruise missles are notoriously religion neutral.
