GELLER: Why the Muslim Who Plotted to Behead Me Must Get Life in Prison

By Pamela Geller, Dangerous

Daoud Wright, the Islamic jihad terrorist who plotted to murder me, is set to be sentenced on Tuesday, and he should get life in prison. I will be at the sentencing to make a victim impact statement.

It came to light in June 2015 that Wright, along with his fellow Boston jihadis Usaama Rahim and Nicholas Rovinski were plotting to behead me, along with an unnamed Muslim in North Carolina who posted online this portion of the ISIS fatwa against me: “Our aim was (Geller) and to show her that we don’t care what land she hides in or what sky shields her. We will send all our Lions to achieve her slaughter.” Wright told his fellow jihadis that I deserved to be beheaded, because I organized the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest that other jihadis attacked in Garland, Texas in May 2015.

Insulting Mohammed or Islam is a capital crime in Islamic law. Wright and his fellow jihadis wanted to make an example of me. They wanted to prove by killing me that they can and will act with impunity in the U.S., and that Americans must submit to sharia blasphemy laws — or else.

Wright is lethal and dangerous. His mother, Shahidah J. Muhammad, declared that she was “devastated” when she heard her son talk about murdering police officers. She said: “The words enraged and disgusted me and couldn’t understand how this was coming from the mouth of David.”

His mother added: “He in turn became an idiot to the teachings of an idiotic spiteful terrorist group of individuals.” Did she think he was an idiot before he was apprehended? When did she decide he was an idiot? Shahidah J. Muhammad is a devout Muslim. Did she and her son discuss Islam? Did he say things that contravened Islamic teachings? Or are we to believe they were both devout Muslims and lived in the same house, but they never discussed Islam, the very thing that defined them?

It was even worse than that. Prosecutors wrote that Wright didn’t just want to behead me; he wanted “to conduct attacks in ten states because in his words the harm caused by the Boston Marathon bombings were not ‘sufficient.’”

Acting U.S. Attorney William D. Weinreb says that this jihadi savage should get life in prison. Prosecutors stated: “The sentence…should send a clear and unequivocal message: if you plot to kill Americans and provide material support to ISIS, you will receive the maximum sentence available under the law.”

Exactly. Not only did he target me for a brutal, cruel and violent death, this will not even be over with his sentencing. Daoud Wright wanted to kill me over my First Amendment right, free speech – speech he was indoctrinated to think was an immense evil by his violent and absolutist belief system and ideology. There has been no indication that he has given up these beliefs. If he says he has, his sincerity cannot be taken for granted, as deception is part of his twisted beliefs. Thus there is no assurance that anyone can possibly give me that if he is released from prison at any time in the future, that he would not resume his quest to kill me.

Therefore Daoud Wright should be given the sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. This is because he plotted to kill me for daring to stand up for the freedom of speech against violent intimidation. I urge the court to do the same thing: to show that the court is aware that the freedom of speech is the foundation of every free society, and that we take violent acts intended to suppress speech not just as the crime of one or two or three individuals, but as a challenge to the very foundations of our society and to basic principles of human rights.

Daoud Wright

Giving a lighter sentence to Daoud Wright would send the message to thousands of others like them that they can plot freely to murder those who say things that offend their evil ideology, and the consequences will be slight.

When Wright was found guilty in November, Massachusetts’s WBUR said: “Wright may be an emblem of the new normal.” The new normal? Really? Muslims plotting to behead people for violating sharia blasphemy laws is the new normal? Only if our capitulation to sharia continues and becomes complete. This is just the kind of thinking that must be rejected, and rejected firmly, by giving Wright a life sentence. Wright and those who think like him must see and understand from his life sentence that if they plot to kill Americans for the crime of speaking out against injustice, we will just speak out all the more – and they will pay the full price for their crimes.

The enemedia set all this in motion in the wake of the Danish cartoons controversy, when instead of standing for the freedom of speech and reprinting the Mohammed cartoons over which Muslims were rioting and killing, they surrendered, and submitted to jihadi intimidation.

Then they did it again in the wake of my Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest in Garland, Texas. After jihadis attacked the event, they blamed me, as if the jihad attack, the first ISIS attack on American soil, was my fault, for drawing Mohammed and angering Muslims. Even conservatives who should have known better, including Bill O’Reilly, joined in the chorus of condemnation.

And now we hear that Muslim plots to behead those who stand for free speech are the “new normal.” If the enemies of freedom on the left get to implement the policies they want to implement, it will be. Find out more about this in my book Fatwa: Hunted in America.

This will never end for me, nor for any other American who stands in defense of free speech, and so it should never end for Daoud Wright. If he gets out, I will be in new danger, as will my colleagues. Wright plotted to kill police officers as well. We must send a very clear message to jihadis who plot against this country and try to kill Americans for the crime of speaking out against injustice. They must pay the full price for their crimes.
