Cutting U.S. Funding to the United Nations: A Plan

55

The United Nations, just recently, convened its eleventh so-called “emergency” session on Israel since 1997. But the real tone of the meeting was to bash the Jewish state.

And that’s how these “emergency” sessions always go.

But as President Donald Trump has made clear: There’s a new White House sheriff in town and the United Nations ought to take note.

Story continues below advertisement

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has been pretty bold on the president’s plans to trim back the global body’s wings and reel in its anti-Israel rhetoric. Just look at her most recent speech to the United Nations, this month:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvqX4vauIJ8

And now?

Now there could be real teeth to that U.S. plan to control the United Nations. Now the United States could consider options to cut U.N. funding, as well.

Here’s an analysis from Anne Bayefsky in Breitbart that explains more:

For decades, the United Nations has spit in the face of the United States. The demonization of the Jewish state – modern antisemitism – has been one of many UN policy priorities totally antithetical to American values and interests.

The General Assembly vote on December 21 condemning President Donald Trump’s implementation of American law recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel ought to be the last time America takes it lying down.

Let’s be clear about how we got here. Thursday’s meeting was the seventeenth time the UN General Assembly has convened the so-called “tenth” emergency special session on Israel since 1997. That’s because the “tenth” session is effectively permanent. At the end of the meeting, the President of the General Assembly stressed that the session was merely “adjourned.”

What such UN-eze means for real people is this: There has never been an emergency special session of the General Assembly on anything but Israel-bashing in twenty years. 500,000-plus dead and seven million displaced in Syria over seven years – and not one emergency special session. Neither a million dead in Rwanda, nor two million dead over two decades in Sudan, ever prompted a single emergency special session.

The issue Thursday was not about Jerusalem. It was about Jew-hatred. The resolution is the General Assembly’s twenty-first resolution in 2017 slamming Israel for violating “rights” and “law.” There was one resolution on North Korea. One on Iran. And one on the United States – criticizing U.S. Cuba policy. Altogether, there were nine resolutions critical of human rights records in specific states in the rest of the world combined.

The game is Jerusalem and 1967 borders. But the endgame is the 1948 borders and the legitimacy of a Jewish state.

The issue today was also not simply about President Trump. The State Department produces an annual report computing “coincidence of voting” in the General Assembly – or how often other countries vote the same way as the United States. In 2016, counting all the final draft resolutions of the full plenary of the General Assembly – that were adopted by a vote and on which the U.S. voted yes or no – “coincidence of voting” with the United States was a mere 37 percent.

U.S. UN Ambassador Nikki Haley cut to the chase: dollars and cents. On today’s “attack,” she pointed out to the General Assembly that the United States is “asked to pay more than anyone else” for “the ‘privilege’ of being disrespected.”

But she and the President went further. They’ve promised that this time the United States will not be cowering in submission while the UN majority chants “UN multilateralism” because back home these states are too busy unilaterally oppressing their own people.

Speaking in advance of the vote at a Cabinet meeting, President Trump said: “We’re not going to be taken advantage of any longer.” And Haley spelled it out: “The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation. We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations.”

Today’s vote – 128 for, 9 against, 35 abstentions, and 21 sitting on their hands — means a few more “no-shows” got the administration’s memo that freedom isn’t free.

But the numbers tell the UN story: whatever the organization was meant to be in the 20th century, in the 21st century American taxpayers are paying for an institution owned and operated by anti-American non-democracies.

There is no time like the present to put an end to this travesty.

It so happens that today and tomorrow the United States will be asked to make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations. The General Assembly budget committee is meeting today to take a decision on funding the UN Human Rights Council – a “human rights” body composed of the likes of Qatar, China, Cuba, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela. Funding will include paying for a UN blacklist of American companies doing business with Israel, along with a whole host of “trash America first” programs.

The Trump administration should vote against funding the Human Rights Council at the committee level. When the resolution passes anyway – and circles back around, bundled together with all the other anti-American and anti-Israel goings-on from across the General Assembly – the Trump administration should vote against the entire UN 2018-2019 biennium budget.

This move has clear precedent. On December 22, 2007, the Bush administration voted against the whole 2008–2009 UN budget after the General Assembly decided to pay for yet another antisemitic hatefest modeled on the infamous Durban racism conference of 2001.

Here’s a roadmap after the vote: Place a temporary hold on U.S. funding for the United Nations except in the case of urgent humanitarian relief. Set up a committee to review all U.S. UN contributions – now approximately 10 billion a year from all government sources – and decide what truly fits American values and interests. Move commitments from the “regular” budget category to “voluntary” contributions, where we can keep a much closer eye on accountability.

And last, but not least, move the embassy to Jerusalem tomorrow by changing a sign on a building in Jerusalem that the United States already owns.

The time for following through on promises, Mr. President, was never more ripe.

$10 billion a year is a lot of money to shell out to a bloated organization that DAILY criticizes the U.S. on U.S. soil, from blow hards who couldn’t do a real job if their lives depended on it. What if, Trump said, that money is contingent upon U.N. staffers going out, on a daily basis, and ACTING LIKE THE AMBASSADORS they are by committing random acts of kindness to all Americans, or they can go back home.
And just what benefit is the average American citizen getting back for this “investment.” Oh, that’s right, more global hatred.

Like the commentary of Nikky Haley at the U.N., this was an excellent article. If America is a leading free society nation, whose values are considered sacrosanct, and whose conduct is consistent with a country who can be recognized as sincerely humanitarian, then I also fully agree with this articles commentary. We should recognize that the U.N. is being overwhelmed by the antiquated and inhuman countries who often are dictatorial in nature and do not treat there people with due process or provide them with equal protection. Their failure to do so is clearly contrary to everything we consider right about our free society. Yet, these countries, especially the Arab/Islamic ones have essentially taken over the U.N. The anti-Semitic conduct that they consistently direct at the state of Israel is overwhelming evidence that those countries do not act or represent themselves as we here in America think is appropriate. Yes, the U.N. can and should be used to help those people who are in need of humanitarian help, something I note that the U.S. and Israel do on a regular basis whenever and wherever it is needed, but beyond that why are we supporting this gang of unreasonable countries who use the U.N. as their playing field where they act out conduct that is nowhere near being neighborly and of good moral character. We need to close or tighten the money spigot and simply state we will take it no more! While I know there will be “politically correct” media pundits who will bad mouth that approach, once again I believe that kind of thinking plays into the hands of those who continue to laugh at us for being so continually sucked in by those within the U.N. who are jealous of where this country is, and will do anything they choose as long as it is essentially anti-American. They need to know that conduct must end.

Enough talk, the united nations has become a tool of islam, it was supposed to be non denominational, but, the only religion with a facility in it is islam, with prayer rooms. Where are the churches and synagogues, Buddhist or Hindu temples? It is time for all decent nations that believe in freedom and human rights, to pull out of the united nations, disband it and work independently, joining only on occasion for projects. The united nations as it is, is a useless abomination.

When my daughter was in law school (being indoctrinated by the left wing nuts) she spent a summer working at the UN in Botswana. She became more conservative upon observing that no one did any work. There was always an excuse for closing for a day, leaving early, starting late to hold meeting after meeting, lasting hours, to discuss trivial issues that could have been discussed on 5 or 10 minutes. We went to visit her there and the building is beautiful and far more elaborate and costly than anything else in Africa. The US really needs to just get out of the UN and boot the UN out of NYC. It is an outrageous waste of taxpayer dollars that we never voted on.

I’m South African and can assure you that what you saw in Botswana is mostly the way black Africa functions – and yet Botswana functions better than most African countries! There are exceptions regarding working hard, but not many. Notions of keeping to a schedule or doing things on the time decided, are foreign. Any excuse to avoid work and strike are common. They’d rather toy-toy! My late-wife and I once attended a funeral for a dear old black lady who worked for us. The service was supposed to begin at 2,00 p.m., but at 2.00 p.m., apart from an elderly deacon we were the only one’s in the church. After some time he came up, put his hand on my shoulder and with a smile said: “You know us Africans”. I did and just took it as it came, but the fact is that it exemplified the reality and tells you why both South Africa and Rhodesia, when run by whites, became the most advanced countries on the continent and why under black rule Zimbabwe is a mess and South Africa rapidly deteriorating into a mess.

Thanks for your reply. The same daughter spent another summer in Petermaritzberg. Before she went she received info on staying at the Y. I just about died and could not convince her that SA was dangerous for a White girl alone. My husband and I told her that we wanted her to stay with a family in a house surrounded by walls and that we would pay whatever sum was requested. She found a place meeting those specs and with 2 SA Boarboels in the yard, each weighing 130 to 150 pounds.

When I went to visit I saw that most residential homes were surrounded by barbed wire fencing and guarded by boerboels. It really is sad because it was obvious that SA was far better off under white rule. You are correct. Botswana was better but noting seemed to run smoothly and just crossing a street was scary.

Thus far I have been to four African countries run by Blacks and the only one that comes close to my standard of living is Rwanda but of course that high standard of living in the capital has not made it to the countryside.

There is a serious problem with self rule in Africa and those of us who have been there know that is unlikely to ever improve as long as there is a lack of work ethic and willingness to cheat and steal from your fellow man.

Right now I’m resident in Canada where many years back I worked and then did university studies, then returned to South Africa that was still under white rule.

Before we left SA, for me the second occasion, when evident the ANC would in the not too distant future rule the country, we lived pretty normal lives. Yes, we had a fence round the property, but it was low and mainly to keep our dogs in and other people’s dog out.
Years later when I returned to see family, I was amazed and not a little shocked to see that homes had been turned into fortresses – to keep the robbers and murderers out. After years of Mandela’s presidency crime and corruption were rampant. Little has changed. It has the highest rape rate in the world, one of the highest murder rates, standards have fallen drastically and black racism is rampant. Some achievement!

And yet note how the left-wing/liberal American media detests and denounces Donald Trump’s position. Many of the statements being made by member of the mentally deranged left are just so infantile and devoid of truth. As if he didn’t anticipate how the UN majority would respond! But no, to the deranged left he, not Barack Obama’s actions in December, 2016, caused this whole problem.
In fact Trump’s position and the statements made by Niki Haley in the UN have given me more pleasure than I can remember for a long time. And in response Muslim UN members squeal like pigs – ‘How dare you not obey what we crappy Muslims want?’ At the very least the U.S. has got to bring the Islam nations-dominated UN to heal and make the bastards grovel.

My only reason to disagree on with you would that the UN is probably a treasure trove of foreign Intel without having to place operatives all across the globe. In that way, the UN is useful to the US. We should definitely reduce our expenditures to the UN to match that of any other country.

The Department of the Interior is boosting responsible oil and gas development on Federal lands.

According to NERA Economic Consulting, the CPP would have increased electricity rates by as much as 14 percent, costing American households up to $79 billion.
The EPA is reconsidering an onerous Obama-era rule on methane emissions that would cost American energy developers an estimated $530 million annually.
PROTECTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THE HOMELAND: President Trump is enforcing our immigration laws, protecting American communities and American jobs.
President Trump has laid out his principles for reforming our immigration system to serve hard-working Americans instead of harming them. In particular, President Trump has called on Congress to fund a wall along the Southern border, close legal loopholes that enable illegal immigration, end Chain Migration, and eliminate the Visa Lottery program.
President Trump pulled the United States out of negotiations for a “Global Compact on Migration,” a plan for global governance of immigration and refugee policy that would have had far-reaching implications for U.S. sovereignty.
Under President Trump’s leadership, the Department of Homeland Security took action to wind down the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in an orderly fashion, following the assessment of the Department of Justice (DOJ) that DACA lacks legal authorization.
This action gives Congress the opportunity to consider appropriate legislative solutions, as required by our Constitution.

The number of counties participating in the 287(g) program, which gives state and local law enforcement entities delegated authority by ICE to enforce immigration in their jurisdiction, has doubled.

But the numbers tell the UN story: whatever the organization was meant to be in the 20th century, in the 21st century American taxpayers are paying for an institution owned and operated by anti-American non-democracies.
So now remove the funds from all these countries which are against us and from the UN too.

Evict the UN. Let them move to one of those islamic countries and see how long they last. They are worthless, useless and biased, not democratic, but sharia compliant.

The UN is made up of mostly Muslim terrorist countries that their bible instructs them to kill the infidel, that’s us. So why do we allow any Muslims into our country? Freedom of religion does not mean freedom for terrorists because they clam to be a region. We The People want all Muslims out of the US and the US out of UN, the UN out of America..!

This message says: “No More!”, and that’s a good thing for the entire free world.

Because hey: you can say about America what you like, but at least in America you can say about America what you like…

The U.N. allows North Korea to have a seat at its table, and millions of its people are probably starving every day. How does it expect anyone to take it seriously anymore?

The US should have gotten out of the traitorous UN decades ago.
And, the nasty UN should have removed from America decades ago.
They are a cancer on free society, just like Islam.
