UK: Parents Sue Government to Bring ISIS Jihadi Son Home from Syrian Prison

16

Where were Jack Lett’s parents as he “radicalized” (adopted the tenets of Koranic literalism) under their ignorant noses? He converted to Islam at 18, dropped out of school and traveled to Jordan in 2014. Leaving a life of privilege in Oxford, England, he took the name Abu Mohammed. Naturally, as the caliphate began to lose territory, the cowardly jihadi, now 21, was not willing to give his life for Allah. He was captured by Kurdish forces as he fled ISIS territory.

From The Sun, along with the requisite Muslim family attorney:

John and Sally Letts claim he is being tortured by a Kurdish militia group who captured the 21-year-old as he tried to flee the besieged ISIS capital Raqqa.

The Oxford couple said they have heard nothing from him since 8 July when he sent pained messages from prison.

Muslim-convert Jack — dubbed Jihadi Jack after he ran away to join ISIS in Syria aged 18 — claimed he was being brutally interrogated by Kurdish PYD officials who “said the questions came from England”.

Tayab Ali, a lawyer for the family, told the Mail On Sunday last night that they will sue the Foreign Office and file a complaint with PYD officials at their European HQ in Berlin.

They will claim that the British Government is allowing Jack to suffer “inhuman and degrading treatment” — and that UK agents are “complicit” in his torture.

The PYD, part of a wider pro-Western Kurdish militia force in the region, has insisted Jack’s human rights are being upheld.

Jack, who has been pictured in military fatigues in Raqqa, claims he never fought for ISIS and openly criticised them during his three years in the jihadi city.

The Foreign Office said it can do nothing while Jack is in Syria because there is no British consulate in the country.

The Geller Report has previously noted Western governments’ preference that citizens who have joined ISIS should die on the battlefield rather then return home as so many human hand grenades with the pin pulled.

The Truth Must be Told

Your contribution supports independent journalism

Please take a moment to consider this. Now, more than ever, people are reading Geller Report for news they won't get anywhere else. But advertising revenues have all but disappeared. Google Adsense is the online advertising monopoly and they have banned us. Social media giants like Facebook and Twitter have blocked and shadow-banned our accounts. But we won't put up a paywall. Because never has the free world needed independent journalism more.

Everyone who reads our reporting knows the Geller Report covers the news the media won't. We cannot do our ground-breaking report without your support. We must continue to report on the global jihad and the left's war on freedom. Our readers’ contributions make that possible.

Geller Report's independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our work is critical in the fight for freedom and because it is your fight, too.
