Florida man sentenced to 25 years for attempt to blow up synagogue

(Reuters) – A Florida man with anti-Semitic views was sentenced by a U.S. judge on Tuesday to 25 years in prison for trying to blow up a synagogue in the state last year during a Jewish holiday, court officials said.
James Medina, 41, will first be treated at a U.S. prison medical facility for a brain cyst and mental illness before being moved into the general prison population, U.S. District Judge Robert Scola in Miami ruled.
Medina, who faced up to life in prison, had pleaded guilty in August 2017 to charges of an attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and an attempted religious hate crime, court documents showed.
“This is a very, very serious offense,” Judge Scola was quoted as saying in court by the Miami Herald.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation began watching Medina, who had converted to Islam, after he began expressing anti-Semitic views and a wish to attack a synagogue. They launched an investigation in late March 2016, court documents showed.
Medina met with an FBI-affiliated confidential informant and explained his plan to attack a synagogue in Aventura, Florida, near Miami, the documents showed.
“Medina wanted to witness the explosion, hearing and feeling the blast from (a) nearby car,” the informant cited Medina as saying, according to the documents.
Asked why he wanted to do it, Medina said he wanted to kill Jews, adding: “It’s my call of duty.”
Medina was supplied with what he thought was an explosive device by federal law enforcement. The device was inert and posed no danger to the public, federal law enforcement said in court filings.
He was taken into custody as he approached the synagogue with the inert device and later admitted to his crimes, they said. No one was hurt.

let me guess…he was a quiet, respectful guy, and his neighbors couldn’t believe he was capable of this. this is why we cannot tolerate muslims in the US….it’s like importing hand grenades that have a small chance of going off and sprinkling them all over the country

You echo my own sentiments about this very dangerous belief system. Not only is this belief system hate oriented, but it is also unable to assimilate into free societies while abandoning the promoted hate that its believers accept as their duty. I totally agree that it is dangerous and foolhardy to allow them into our free world societies. That is the reality.

Either give them death or deport them for life after 1 year jail . if he tries to return send him to firing squad. do it for few dozens then watch how this menace begins to pipe down.

How about stripping him of HIS citizenship if he is a legal citizen? We don’t need this here. When he gets out, he’ll do it again and recruit others in prison to do this.

The brain tumor, is a result of ingesting too much donkey and goat spunk. After absorbing so much, the kidneys simply cant process it anymore, so it backs up to the brain and this sort of thing happens. Really quite common among koran readers.

Low quality Muslims outnumber people of quality by more than 100 to 1. That is the Muslim trick, sending scumbags to kill good people, until there are no good people left able to resist. If a few or a great many Muslim scumbags are killed, no matter to them, they have plenty more to use as cannon fodder.

And for a bat or a cattle prod or live wire or whatever when justice would prevail, one cannot feel guilty for wanting for a second to remove that maniac smile from that thug who uses the tool that in turn uses him to enable both of their crimes. Perhaps there needs to be a “greatest suckers award” for these chumps I would say for the year but they are so common that a week works.
