Americans need guns: Ordinary citizens with legal guns save lives

53

Americans need guns. That is absolutely not in dispute among any sane people. If there had been armed people in the vicinity when many jihad attacks began, they would have been stopped sooner than they were.

There is one aspect of the Wall Street Journal editorial linked below, however, that warrants further comment. “Security officers in Garland, Texas, prevented mass casualties by killing two jihadists in 2015 trying to shoot up a contest featuring cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.”

“Security officers”? No. I had to hire my own SWAT team, or I (and many attendees) wouldn’t be alive today. So no, I fully support the idea that an armed citizenry can prevent crimes, but the Garland attack on my free speech event was not a good example of the value of private access to a gun.

Story continues below advertisement

What’s more, the FBI had an informant tracking these jihadis, who was in constant communication with them, and the informant didn’t take any action whatsoever to either warn me or to protect me and the other people at the event.

Why not? Did the Obama FBI want me dead as an example of what happens to those who dare to exercise their freedom of speech regarding Islam? See my Breitbart article here laying out the evidence and asking the questions that so far remain unanswered. Why is the FBI stonewalling in the face of my repeated requests for information? What do they have to hide?

I explain all this detail in my book FATWA: Hunted in America.

“A Plumber With a Rifle,” Wall Street Journal, November 6, 2017 (thanks to David):

A neighbor saves lives in Texas with a legal gun and some quick action.

The world is trying to figure out what evil, or madness, caused Devin Kelley to kill 26 people and wound 20 more at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Sunday morning. But forgive us if we focus on Stephen Willeford, the local plumber who saved lives by grabbing his rifle and firing at Kelley.

Freeman Martin, the Texas Department of Public Safety chief, said Mr. Willeford “grabbed his rifle and engaged the suspect” as he left the church….

Security officers in Garland, Texas, prevented mass casualties by killing two jihadists in 2015 trying to shoot up a contest featuring cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad….

Yes, Pamella, there are a lot of similarities between the Joker and Kelley. I’m an astrologer. both cases have Kalasarpa yoga, where the planets are “hemmed in” between Rahu and Ketu. This typically marks the individual as bipolar. Obviously both cases were mishandled by their legal/medical teams. I believe Kelley was given a light sentence for basically fracturing his stepson’s skull. Both probably would have been better off institutionalized. But political correctness, and who knows what other factors, intervened.

Ah, Americans. Perhaps that’s result of your sick culture.
What are you crying about?
You scream “foul” when you see a naked breast on the screen, but you indulge in 20 murders per minute in your movies.

You became laughing stock of the world for a reason.
By the way, this “man” looks like adolescent kid who was never spanked, never did anything useful, never worked hard, and thought only of “me, me, me”.
You reap what you sow.

In case you haven’t noticed, only foreigners are consuming the crap out of Hollyweird these days, we’re not watching them and people are disconnecting their cable in large part to the junk on t.v., in general.
But I wouldn’t expect you to know that, since you’re not American and you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.
But it’s funny to see you walk in lock step with the anti-American sentiment that the mainstream has told you is so cool.
You hate us cause you ain’t us. Free speech, firearms, have fun wherever you’re from with whatever you got.
And in American fashion, Have a good day, y’hear! 🙂

I don’t hate you. I just point to some clues.
You’re right, too many people consume garbage from Hollywood.
Problem is, your young generation is as lost as the rest of the world.
They consume Hollywood garbage just as the rest of the world.

I love the idea of US constitution.
I don’t hate Americans, I hate what you have produced now, today.

Fortunately, the up and coming generation is more conservative than they been in over 3 decades, according to studies. The vocal mush heads get more press, and we do have some work to do, but we have a good base and due to the freedoms we have, the debate here is as lively as anywhere in the world.

There are a few that are in the camp you described – refreshing when you meet one. However, those numbers are woefully small because the majority still welcome the academic brainwashing evident in almost all higher education in America.

With this, standards of morality have been abandoned.

Unfortunately it seems, USA is heading toward another civil war, no matter how many good kids there are.
1st civil war was designed to divide, it failed, but upcoming one will definitely divide this fabulous country.
There are too powerful forces behind, which none of us can control.
You let too many communists into your midst.
You had even elected one of them to be the President.

stupid reply..sorry but true.. you bit without thinking as I have also done in the past..what he said WRT the USA is true but also true of most of the west including where he is and while I see the communists as providing the organizational and muscle backbone to the Left it is a movement based upon mass programming of youth and lies from the non-communist lunatic Left who have never had to learn how hard it was to obtain what they take for granted and who beleove thei own lies about whites. (WRT the US communists: read Diana West’s “American Betrayal” to find out that the McCarthy only noticed onlythe very tip of the communist iceberg in the USA as it had totally infiltrated the WHOLE US bureaucracy as well as the ruling Democrats and who was their top man there? Read it.)

Those are good, I’ve read ‘Lone Survivor’ and ‘American Sniper’. If you haven’t seen it, ’13 Hours’, about the Benghazi attack, is a good one for the collection. Another good book is ‘Rogue Warrior’, it’s about Richard Marcinko, the man who founded SEAL Team 6.

You must be some canuck butt-sniffer or something less. The world yearns to be Americans, except your cowardly communists. The murders are from communist democrats. From the assassination of president John Kennedy, to today, the mass murderers have been communist democrats, like you. YOU cowardly foreigners begged the United States citizens to loan them guns to defend themselves in WW1 and WW2. Americans, always ready to fight for freedom, sent millions of guns and ammo to you cowardly foreigners. In both wars, America saved the world each time. I am a Viet Nam veteran, I am sure you are a p u s s y.
You keep sucking that coward communist dik and we Americans will continue to kick communism’s azz.

Please spare us the jingoist rubbish. The USA finished WW2 with most of the world’s gold and money (the UK was totally bankrupt and alone for a year after the fall of France) and still had to be forced unwillingly into both wars and it did so with minimum cost WRT casualties. The affluence in the USA that resulted created the consumer population and the current narcissistic selfish generations that typify the young now where deontology is unknown and within 20 years this had spread to the whole west. I appreciate the US and like its people but please do not believe what Hollywood tells you.

Umm while you are correct about Hollywood movies it is now common standard all over the west as far as ALL entertainment is concerned and the problem with affluence is that those with it have too much time and money and no taste. I agree that USA post WW2 has betrayed its origins in the name of the consumer “buck” but you miss the massive academic and educational lever that the Left has had in place since Stalin missed out in WW2 (he only obtained half of Europe).
All advertising, all education, all academia and all laws are now under the thumb of the Left and this is NOT only the USA but the whole west. When I see pouting, makeup strewn 14 YO faces on TV off it goes instantly and that alone is an indictment of US movies(who can actually say that the two spoilt brats in “War of the Worlds” actually helped the movie?) AND UK ones where the same leftist concept of pseudo-adult(“you can’t tell me what to do” juvenile trash is now standard and if you look further it is in ALL western movies. Spoiling a child is the most certain way to produce a selfish self centred adult and I totally agree with that. Pandering to any bully of any kind is certain way to fail and children now bully their parents.
So yes I agree but it is not just the USA and the west as now even the leftist cancer has spread to Asia and is having the same flow on and Bollywood (plus those inTokyo/Beijing/Seoul) too are fast becoming irresponsible as they cater for the emerging middle class spoilt brat market

The Oklahoma beheader Alton Nolen, self-styled “Jah’Keem Yisrael”, was taken down by a man with a gun. He had already started to attack a second victim.
The Ottawa gunman who shot and killed the unarmed soldier at the War Memorial was taken down by a guard at the Canadian Parliament.
When bikers held a “Draw Mohammed” event outside Phoenix mosque, the one the Garland jihadis attended, they encountered no opposition: they were openly carrying arms.
An upstanding citizen with a gun is a protection for his whole community.

The 2nd amendment isn’t about sport or hunting, it’s about self preservation and self defense, up to a tyrannical government. And yes, there were guns capable of amazing rates of fire when it was written. And no, gun ownership is nothing akin to driving a car, owning guns are a right, driving cars are a privilege. And don’t even try that ‘Australian gun buy-back’ that was really confiscation with a deceptive name.
I feel humbled and blessed to have had founding fathers that could outwit tyranny over 200 years after their time.

genuine soldiers who actually were involved in combat ..yes!! Those who serve in the back areas and never see a shot fired in anger ? NO way!! 70 % of our supposed “veterans” in WW2 were such as being back in a base if they scratched their backside or had a cold it went down on the record while those in the jungle often had malaria, dysentery, scrub typhus all at once(the rule was you never even admitted if unless temp was >102deg f) and it NEVER appeared on any record as usually the MO was too busy with wounds. The noncombat ‘vets” are and always have been a breeding ground for parasites and post war pacifists

Every “veteran” claims to have been on the front line, even if it was back on an airstrip in safe country. A modern army is about logistics etc. as much as those who fight (isn’t the ratio now 9 to 1?) and the “9” who really are often totally non-combatants are absolutely essential. But do have a look at veteran affairs records to see how many are on such pensions and what is the ratio there. From my experience it is >>9:1 as unless someone was badly wounded most combat veterans never bothered and have total contempt for the backroom boys, essential or not. BTW I did seem harsh as most of the 9 are decent people and good soldiers but they are virtually the 99% source of the disaffected pacifist traitors so nothing personal meant at all (obviously as you are here)

Your every statement demonstrates not just your ignorance, but your disdain and hatred for those who have served.
How much of ~your~ life has been given in service to the country, service with the possibility of injury, death, or debilitating disease that will affect the rest of your life?
Most of the veterans on Disqus have their posting history open for reading by any one at any time.
Why don’t you go find a few examples to support your assertions and then come back and present some real evidence, based on facts, not your hate filled fantasies.

1. Then why are you raging against your own family?
2. Since I don’t know you, and have no context for this statement, it comes across as complete nonsense.
3. The likelihood of encountering Combat Veterans is higher in a VA Hospital than elsewhere, simply because of the nature and context of the situation. If you can’t grasp that concept then you need to go back to square one.
4. Quite frankly, you come across as a raving nutter, so what you post can only be assumed to be the babbling of a deranged mind.

I agree that it was poorly presented by myself and I am sorry if I seemed to be smearing the majority of decent non combatants but that wa snot my aim. My point was that combat troops are extremely rare as dissenters post war. the same cannot be said for non combatants who really do gain far more than the 9×1 ratio of veteran funding (and I have stated why) as well as being the major source of dissenters and pacifists. IMHO the front line soldier is the one who deserves more but rarely asks for it and scarcely demands it. I can go into this in far larger detail but obviously I am wasting my time. The typist in Saving Private Ryan personified the view of far too many non-combatants even in WW2 and it is far worse now. As a question, how many of those armed forces “whistle-blowers or deserters were frontline combat troops? Touchy area obviously but when in uniform any person is a target. But once out there is a difference in attitudes about war.

Back in January, 1989, Patrick Purdy, a mental deficient on government-paid mind-altering drugs, purchased an AK-47 variant and shot up a school yard in Stockton, CA. That started the majority of this mess. Left out was, why was no one in the government notified and advised this nut job was trying to buy a gun? So, once again as in Texas, the government dropped the ball and people died.
Americans, assuming they have some balls and love freedom more that football and beer, will defy any order to turn in guns. In fact, if American have any guts at all, they will go to D.C., armed, and hold a people’s court, which is long over due and which is our right and duty.

“Shall not be infringed” makes all gun laws unconstitutional and illegal. So saying ‘legal’ guns is pointless. Someone who uses a firearm in the commission of a crime isn’t a criminal because he violated a gun law, according the Second Amendment.

You are right. In fact criminals have been known to kill with other weapons that are perfectly legal – until used in an illegal manner, such as a box cutter to take over an airliner. The airliner was likewise “legal” until the perpetrator took it over.

Criminals will commit crimes, and no law on earth will stop them. But a good person with a gun available when the crime starts will stop the perpetrator in his tracks every time. They may get some, but their damage will be limited.
