Mexico Butts into Fight Against Texas’ Sanctuary City Ban

34

Mexico’s government filed an amicus brief in America’s court system, siding with the many complainants who want to overturn the Texas ban on sanctuary cities in the state.

The question: Who cares what Mexico thinks about Texas?

Texas is a U.S. state — and the United States is a sovereign nation. What Mexico thinks of America’s politics — of Texas’s politics — is of no concern to Americans.

Story continues below advertisement
Mexico needs to keep on its side of the border, and stay out of American politics.

And yet, Mexico’s government still filed the brief.

Breitbart has the story:

The government of Mexico stepped into the fight against the State of Texas’ new anti-sanctuary city law. Mexico filed an amicus brief in support of the several Texas cities and organizations bringing suit against the state seeking to overturn the SB4 legislation on constitutional grounds.

In a statement on Mexico’s official government website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs misstates provisions of the Texas law signed by Governor Greg Abbott earlier this year. Secretary of Foreign Relations Luis Videgaray Caso wrote that the law “requires” police officers and other state officers to ask about the immigration status of anyone they stop. That statement is not correct.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart Texas immediately after signing SB4 into law, Abbott explained “allowing” police officers to inquire about the immigration status of a person legally detained is one of the key differences between the Texas law and Arizona’s law that was previously challenged in the courts.

“The so-called controversial part of this law is what some label as the ‘show your papers’ component,” the Texas governor explained. “And what everyone seems to get wrong is they think that that provision was stricken down in the Arizona law. To the contrary, the provision in the Arizona law is stricter than the Texas law. The Arizona law required that law enforcement ASK for papers. The Texas law does not require it; it allows it.”

Federal Judge Orlando Garcia confirmed Abbott’s evaluation of the law in his temporary injunction. “In sum, SB 4 gives local officers discretion to inquire and share information,” the judge wrote.

Garcia’s ruling left in place, the provision allowing police officers to make inquiries about the immigration/citizenship status of individuals they legally detain, Breitbart Texas reported.

The cities of San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas, Austin, Houston, and the small Texas border city of El Cenizo have all sued the State of Texas. The Texas governor and attorney general are also named in the lawsuit. LULAC and El Cenizo were the first to file a lawsuit and did so days after the Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 4 into law.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), LULAC, La Unión Del Pueblo Entero, the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE), and the Worker’s Defense Project (WDF) joined the cities in their effort to try to block the anti-sanctuary jurisdiction law.

In the statement obtained by Breitbart Texas, Secretary Videgaray wrote:

The purpose of the Amicus Curiae is to affirm the preliminary injunction blocking the implementation of Texas SB4 that require police and other state officers to ask about the immigration status of anyone they stop; as well as those that would require local law enforcement authorities to hold immigrants longer than would otherwise be the case to transfer them to federal authorities.

The secretary writes that the law could “undermine the rights of Mexicans that live or visit the state.”

In September, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit sided with the State of Texas on several provisions of the new law. The unanimous decision by the court allows the State of Texas to move forward with enforcing those provisions of the law including the duty of law enforcement agencies to detain illegal aliens wanted by immigration officials, Breitbart Texas reported.

“We are pleased today’s 5th Circuit ruling will allow Texas to strengthen public safety by implementing the key components of Senate Bill 4,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas following the appellate court’s ruling. “Enforcing immigration law helps prevent dangerous criminals from being released into Texas communities.”

Mexico told the court that an “escalating crackdown” on undocumented immigrants is creating “fear, panic, and uncertainty,” Bloomberg reported.

Videgaray concluded, “This [law] could undermine the rights of Mexicans that live or visit the state. Furthermore, it would have a negative impact in the relation(ship) with Texas, as well as hinder effective collaboration and trade between our country and that state.”

In June, the Trump Administration joined Texas in its fight to uphold the State’s ban on sanctuary cities.

A poll in Texas reveals that 58 percent of the State’s voters strongly support or somewhat support a requirement that local officials in Texas cooperate with federal immigration authorities. The poll also states that a majority of Texas voters believe that peace officers in the state should be able to ask residents about their immigration status.

They want to make sure America follows dumb Left/Liberal loons policies so they can send and keep their criminals in America.

That is why America needs Trump now more than ever and he is not afraid to call out the son of bitches http://bit.ly/2xuQrzi

If Left/Liberal pro-jihadi holdovers are purged from govt , judiciary things will improve and Trump can do better job to improve security.

If Mexico wants sanctuary cities , let them open their borders , treat their undocudemented immygrunts more generously than citizens of Mexico , give them an eight lane superhighway straight to citizenship . Borders are a hindrance to the free flow of humanity , the humanity that will be endlessly migrating from one low wage job to the next .

Ok, what next? Mexico go to court and have Texas made a state of Mexico. It is bad enough that islam has considerable influence on America, now the Mexicans want in on the act? Well, at least the occasional one will get a job.

Well, the mindset of Mexican leadership and groups like La Raza is that the entire American Southwest belongs to Mexico. It is a huge area. Forget the Mexican Cession, Gadsden Purchase, Republic of Texas, Santa Ana and the Alamo, the war with Mexico and of course, Pancho Villa pursued by “Black Jack” Pershing.

And wimpy, internationalist American leadership such as GHWB, Clinton, GWB and Obama allowed these groups to grow and exercise increasing pressure against American sovereignty over the Southwest.

The invasion and warfare continues …

After all, Mexico has a vested interest in sanctuary cities and California Sanctuary State — that is where they send their thieves, robbers, muggers, rapists, pedophiles etc. and save all kinds of money. Of course, if Arizona were to have the same situation, the Mexicans would actually have a point to argue considering from here west and north to Canada was apparently taken illegally by force in an illegal invasion by Texas military which started a war that the worst General in the history of generals, General Santa Ana of Mexico lost and surrendered the territory. I married a Mexican and when I recite that history that was explained to me by a US History buff, she pats me on the head and says “don’t worry gringo, we’re taking it back, haven’t you noticed?”

I live in Arizona where the hispanic population I’m guessing is now about 50 or 60% in Maricopa County — pretty heavy in Tucson area too. Fortunately most of ours seem to be hard working, family oriented good people. The Mexican Mafia and street gangs seem to gravitate to south central as in all big cities, and they don’t bother with most of the rest of us. We do have quite a few active Constitution loving “militias” so maybe we’re ok for a while. Despite the notoriety with Joe Arpaio, most of the area police are good hardworking family people too, with just a few knot heads as with any organization. Illegals are a helluva problem. I don’t care what statistic the government gives, we all know they haven’t a damn clue how many are here because 8 yrs of open border and invitations from the fraud in office have inundated us. Mexico looks like the 3rd world countries of the 50’s — Ultra Rich and damned poor — no middle class to speak of. The Cartels at least are predictable. They make sure they are behind the wheels that are greased by their drug money.

I’ve been telling La Raza for about twenty years that they may have it all back if they first pay for “Improvements”. Also pay back the 15 million that Santa Ana absconded with, with “interest”.
There, that should take care of it.

After Pearl Harbor, the Japanese were discussing attaching the 48 states. Yamamoto (their really great Admiral) told them that they’d find a rifle behind every blade of grass (he had studied in America and was one of the few who understood us). I’m assuming that your lady is joking. If not, you might advise her about rifles and blades.

Truth be told, however, slowly but surely they ARE taking it back.

Yes, she is teasing me. Like millions of legal immigrants (as I am), she has assimilated, understands the difference between a republic and a democracy and as I do, LOVES the US Constitution and Laws and how this once melting pot produced a nation of tough but caring independent souls. I’m afraid that the divisions we now see were small but grew exponentially over the last 8 years. Since I am a former armed guard and armed bodyguard, I realize the importance of the 2nd Amendment. I took my wife to a shooting range to teach her how to use the pistol. She placed a shot right next to every one of mine. She had never shot a gun in her life before that. Of course, ever since, I have been the one doing dishes.

Remember the Alamo! Mexico still believes they have rights to Texas and California, and all other states between them. I suggest that Mexico be annexed as a parish of Louisiana, just to show how ridiculous their claim is.

During Antonio Lopez De Santa Ana’s rule, he received dozens and dozens of letters from the “Missions”, from Brownsville TX to San Francisco asking Antonio to send farmers with tools as farmland was in abundance.
Over years he ignored these pleas, tossing the letters into the circular file. Finally, in exasperation ,
he released the Federal Prisoners from the Federal prison in Veracruz, giving them a shovel
or hoe and beat them North with instructions to never return. It is documented that the former Mexicans
in the Los Angeles area, now calling themselves “Californio’s”, called these new arivals, “Chollos”.

Mexicans (many of them, especially la raza) cannot get over the fact that they lost the war many moons ago. They also forget that the USA at that time could have taken their country lock, stock and barrel. Incidentally, we have a head honcho, the POTUS who has the giggleberries to stand up to mexico and nations like them, not to mention those that are enemies of America.

How is a foreign government able to violate our constitution and insert itself into an American court opinion, in an attempt to overturn our constitutional law?
It did it because the court system in our country is corrupt and a danger to law, order and our very sovereignty.
