What really ticks me off is the spineless politicians who refuse to call a spade a spade. 99% of them are all spineless not wanting to offend anyone unless it is politically correct. Trump on the other hand has gone further in trying to pass laws to break this reign of terror even though he is met with tremendous opposition by the liberal media and our republican and liberal democratic representatives… He is climbing an uphill battle but is still marching forward with sound legislation . Mr. Tyranny, you still haven’t addressed my point that I’m the one agreeing with Ms. Geller, while you are taking Geraldo’s side. The view that everybody here is calling idiotic. Not that I’m saying it is idiotic; but, don’t you think it’s painting with an awfully broad brush?

And, no, I’m not suffering from “faux moral outrage.” I’m just being practical. Muslims make up about a quarter of the world population, and 1.6 billion of them are not going away. Unless you want to maintain a constant state of total war with a population that, frankly, seems to be far more ENTHUSIASTIC about their way of life than most of the bored, valueless, clueless West seems to be, which means the barbarians are likely to WIN, then we need to be smart about targeting what we REALLY find intolerable about SOME of them, and help convince the rest of them that THEIR OWN interests are better served by cooperating in suppression of the most violent, radical, authoritarian versions of their own philosophy, and promotion of genuine co-existence, even with a social system completely at odds with theirs.

I do agree that if Muslims, or anyone else, are going to come into a modern, multi-ethnic, open and democratic society as immigrants, they need to respect the rights of OTHERS to live lives very different from their own, and so I totally agree with Ms. Geller’s campaign to raise awareness that Western courts and legislatures and opinion leaders should not kowtow to Sharia-like demands that restrict freedom of expression, or that excuse bad behavior on grounds of “cultural differences.” That’s just suicidal. But the problem there is in the idiotic responses of Western authorities, NOT in the fact that such cultural differences exist in the first place. The US had “cultural differences” with Mormonism in the 19th century which drew a line in the sand and said no, your Utah settlement cannot become a US state unless you give up polygamy. They did, and they assimilated to the dominant values to a great extent. Muslims can do the same — but only if we draw the line in the sand about what BEHAVIOR our governments consider unacceptable, and which we will not tolerate within our territory, regardless of what they do “back home.”
Support for terrorism, as well as active participation in terrorism, is unacceptable. Both are serious crimes.
FGM is unacceptable.
Rape and sexual assault on “slutty” Western women is absolutely not acceptable and inexcusable by pleading different “cultural” norms.
Honor killings and other assaults on independent-minded relatives who reject Islam, or even just reject their parents’ choice of a mate or a career or a lifestyle for them, are unacceptable.
Gay-bashing and assault are unacceptable.
Oppression of women is unacceptable. If a woman WANTS to wear modest clothing, fine — so do Orthodox Jewish women. But no one should be FORCED by men to do so.
Jew-hatred, Christian-bashing, and preaching of murder or assault against any other ethnic group or religion is unacceptable.

I think you get the picture.
Now, your opinion may be that there will be “nothing left” of Islam after we ban all those behaviors that our society deems unacceptable. The thing is, I disagree. And so do many Muslims. But they are unable to get any traction because OUR OWN Western leaders are too busy kowtowing to the demands of the most extreme and violent among politically-outspoken Muslims. This is what is wrong. This is what needs to be fixed. Thank you for listening.
