Of course the UN opposes it. The UN is driven by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). If the Muslim world opposes it, the UN opposes it.
The Kurds have for years deserved autonomy and self-determination. Bush should have given it to them, but he didn’t have the stones. Bush made bold moves, but halfheartedly and without the courage of his convictions.

The caliph of Turkey, Erdogan, threatens severe retribution. Iraqi Kurds must give up on independence or go hungry, Erdogan said.
Tillerson’s remarks are what you expect from an Arabist: “The US State Department has said that despite being ‘deeply disappointed’ by the Kurdish independence referendum, its relations with the Kurdish people ‘will not change.’…’The United States opposes violence and unilateral moves by any party to alter boundaries,’ the statement read.”
I am thrilled for the Kurds and I stand with them.

UNITED NATIONS – The U.N. says Secretary-General Antonio Guterres opposes the Sept. 25 independence referendum planned by Iraq’s Kurds for the enclave in the country’s north.
Story continues below advertisementU.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Sunday that Guterres believes any unilateral decision to hold a referendum now would detract from the need to defeat the Islamic State extremist group.
He says the U.N. chief believes the referendum would also detract from reconstruction of regained territories and the safe return of over 3 million people displaced by IS.
Dujarric says Guterres respects Iraq’s “sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity” and believes all issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan regional government should be resolved through dialogue and compromise….

Of course the new Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres would oppose an independent Kurdistan, he and his cohorts oppose an independent Catalonia too, anything that the voters want that conflicts with the globalist’s agenda is a no no, whatever next, LOCAL democracy ?
For those who don’t know what’s going on and who he is, he’s a Blair – one – world – government clone, a Socialist former PM of Portugal who is insisting that mass immigration of essentially useless Africans, Berbers and Arabs/South Asians into ALL of Europe is not a problem but the answer to one, he’s on record insisting that all 27 EU countries must be forced to take them and that public objections OR concerns must be ignored by the EU and national governments.
I hope these facts are born in mind on this forum, because national governments across Europe have ignored legitimate concerns or lied to their electorates over what powers were surrendered under the “shared Sovereignty” scam practiced by the big wigs in Brussels {and Berlin} for more than 50 years.
Just research the UN Habitat 3 Conference last October in Quito Ecuador, UN goes all in for migration. The paper refers to immigration from Africa and Arabia into America, small town “white” America.

Why the UN should be “respectful” of the territorial integrity of an Arab nation created by Winston Churchill is quite beyond me. Iraq is an entirely artificial country. Allow me to remind Mr Guterres of something:
When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
How about you, and the slimy organization over which you preside, respect that, Mr Guterres?
Oh yes, and by the way, you seem very concerned about the sovereignty of another “nation” with far less claim to being a separate and distinct people than the Kurds. I believe you call them “Palestinians”.
Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

Turn Kurdistan into a vast, hi-tech, anti-missile defense zone, as protection against Iranian missiles. That will also make it harder for any enemy to invade, as the anti-missile system can shoot down enemy planes as well as missiles.
