Awan Asks Judge To Remove GPS, Citing Possible Emergency With Kids In Pakistan

A former House of Representatives IT aide was arraigned in federal court Friday on four felony fraud charges, appearing with three attorneys including Chris Gowen, a former close aide to Hillary and Bill Clinton.
Story continues below advertisementGowen asked that Imran Awan’s GPS monitoring bracelet be removed, citing that Imran might need to attend to an emergency with his children. In a press conference outside court, Gowen admitted that the children are in Pakistan and refused to explain the discrepancy.
Prosecutors opposed the motion strongly, saying Imran is a severe flight risk who made a massive and deliberate effort to send hundreds of thousands of dollars to Pakistan before trying to board a flight to the country. The FBI arrested him at the airport. They said his wife is already in Pakistan and that authorities are sure she has no intention to return.
His wife, Hina Alvi, who also worked for House Democrats including Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has also been indicted. If she misses her arraignment — a date has not been set — she would formally become a fugitive. “She gave every impression to the government that she was leaving the country with no intention to return,” prosecutor Michael Mirando said.
Mirando said both intended to flee, even though they bought round-trip tickets. “Imran had what the government would characterize as a one-way ticket to Pakistan,” he said. From the government’s perspective, their intent was undoubtedly to make a one-way voyage, mentioning a “massive pattern of transfers to Pakistan.”
He said the money moves that led to the charges began occurring after September 2016, when the Awans learned they were under investigation. That highlights that the underlying investigation is into their work on Capitol Hill, with the current charges related to trying to flee after learning about that probe.
The prosecutors’ statements squarely rebuke claims made by Wasserman Schultz that Imran was not fleeing. She said he asked her for unpaid time off. However, records obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation show that Imran typically spends months in Pakistan most years, and his pay from Wasserman Schultz’s office has remained constant. This suggests that he has not taken unpaid time off for similar trips in the past, and it also raising questions about how he could do his job from abroad.
Four of Imran’s relatives and his best friend were also on the House payroll. Most made $165,000 a year — nearly as much as members of Congress — adding up to $6 million in pay, but there is significant evidence that most were “ghost employees.” One brother was a college student, and another was working at a car dealership. The friend worked at McDonalds.

The Awans and their associates collected more than $5 million in pay from congressional offices, often drawing chief-of-staff level pay though there is reason to believe many didn’t even show up. They are suspected of cybersecurity violations.

My bet is that every single one of these Congress Critters needs to be locked up for a long time for negligence in abetting espionage. Lock them up for life, I say, even though normally I am willing to overlook my normal objections to capital punishment for espionage, and their enablers. My guess is their slough has, and will, cost American lives. Did we shoot or hang the Rosenbergs? Neither, they fried. That works.

Negligence, my a$$. Allowing those “shadow employees” who did no work was a theft of taxpayer money by Wasserman-Shultz and other Dems who approved such payments. They must be prosecuted and forced to disgorge their wealth. The AG should take a look at all Congress-people and former President Obama and members of his administration and see what their assets are in relation to their income.
For example, I read somewhere that Susan Rice is worth $50 million even though she only had a salary of under $200,000. Did she have those assets before she became a “national security advisor”?

Wasserman Schultz’s brother Steven Wasserman is overseeing the case. He oversaw the Clinton email case. We know what happened with that. DC is an incestual swamp. Prosecutor Mike Mirando is an in law is Debbie Wasserman Schultz too. They should recuse themselves NOW!!!!!!! The FBI had Imrans wife at the airport and let her flee to Pakistan. I can’t believe the nerve of the Democrat Lawyer asking the Judge to remove the GPS angle bracelet from Imran in case there is an emergency with his kids after he already tried to leave the country once lol.
