Bengal’s bomb menace continues as 14 live bombs are found at a shop in Howrah District

A total of 14 live bombs were reportedly recovered from a shop in West Bengal’s Howrah district on Thursday.
Story continues below advertisementThis discovery was made by the bomb disposal squad after the shop owner named Komer Ali was injured in an explosion there on Wednesday. He as a result was admitted in a Uluberia hospital with severe burn injuries. The explosion had happened when Ali was closing shop, which is located in the Teen Kapati Pool region which falls under the under the jurisdiction of Manikpur police station.
This explosion thus had resulted in a search operation by the bomb disposal squad, the next day. With Komer being in the hospital, he hasn’t yet been interrogated by the police.
It remains to be seen of there is some form of a terror angle in the case, considering the fact that the Durga Puja is just 11 days away. In 2013 also 24 crude bombs were recovered from Kolkata, barely a week before the start of Durga Puja.
Such incidents of bombs being recovered have unfortunately become a very common occurrence in West Bengal, with some of them being even stored in establishments owned by alleged political party workers.
In May, around 70 live bombs were recovered in Chandipur village of the Birbhum district which had caused panic in the area.
We had recently reported how a house of a former Trinamool Congress worker was destroyed after 200 bombs kept there by him had accidentally exploded. This incident had happened in Demutita area of Lokpur village, which is about 50 Kms from Santiniketan. The house owner named Sheikh Samirchand was reportedly a notorious criminal who even had the backing of a Trinamool faction. Even though the party had denied any associations with him, the villagers were insistent on his links with the ruling party….

Agreed. If someone is not involved in a line of work involving excavation or demolition and is constructing devices in a populated area which endangers others, there should be plentiful suspicion and “red flags”.

The almost childish lack of suspicion shown concerning explosives is frightening. If someone possesses explosives in a residential area it requires massive concern from a mere safety standpoint alone. One of the Boston Marathon bombers assembled a device in his apartment house with his wife and infant child in the next room.
Assembling an explosive device is NOT a monkey see monkey do DIY proposition.

Whatever the Quran may say, human life is not valuable in Islam as anybody who dies in its cause even collaterally, goes straight to paradise.
One explosives expert on TV said even a little friction can set off some of the home made explosives used by terrorists.

Agreed. With a so-called “pipe bomb”, you need a pipe nipple, usually 6″ in length, and two pipe caps for either end. The friction of one tiny granule of gunpowder caught in the threads while tightening the pipe caps is sufficient for an inadvertent detonation.

I have 2 Qur`ans. One sent to me from CAIR. The other a better edition given me by a local moslem who`s tried to convert me. I`ve read enough of the Qur`an to learn of their hatred and mandate to ‘strike the necks’of anyone who is not a moslem,Jews,”people of the book”, etc. I view Islam as a political system wrapped in a religion, and want absolutely nothing to do with it or them. I refuse to patronize their buisness`s and warily avoid them when possible. Islamophobic ? That`s me. I don`t fear them,but I can`t bring myself to trust them. I take pains not to allow one to be behind me. Unfortunately,my job requires me to deliver product to some moslem owned shops. I`m very efficient when I go there.Muhammad was a pedophile,a murderer and gathered round him others of like mind.

I confess, I read 3-4 books at a time(typical),I`ve not read deeply into the larger edition that was given me by the moslem. I`m expecting it to be more thorough. I only confirmed Muhammad’s opinion that Jews were apes & pigs. He neglects to mention he was an a$$. I`m into the Durant’s “The Story of Civilization”,A bio of Simon Bolivar, & for fun, a James Bond novel, also a new release, “The Big Lie”. So many books, so little time. I have over a thou. , closer to 2 thou. .books are a passion of mine.

LOL When I have time, I like to visit the antique shops. I crawl on hands & knees searching for books that pique my interest. We go to Goodwill,or Salvation Army stores. I tell my wife”you know where I`ll be”. She buys clothes,I read all the titles on book shelves. I met a lady one evening,scanning books w/her cell ph. She was checking values of books & buying them for resale on internet.Someone gave me a bunch of boxes full. I found one worth $300. , a 1st ed. I have no plans to sell it.

Durga Pooja (lit. “Durga prayer”) is an annual 6 day long holy season devoted to worshipping the Hindu goddess Durga. It is famous for the huge crowds of celebrants it brings out onto the streets of Indian cities.
It is a worldwide event, but is nowhere bigger than in Kolkata (Calcutta), an enormous densely-populated metropolis, of which Durga is the patron deity.
